How do you "Just do it?"
n · 2023-03-09 15:23
I guess all people struggle with laziness and a lethargic kind of depression. I yearn to break out of it and achieve my goals, and I have come to understand that there is no magic cure, no little cookie or trick that will do it, but only your own will.
Doing the "right thing" and marching towards your goal no matter how you feel or what comes your way seems obvious, but I don't always understand how to even make that first step to begin with. Most of the time I don't have the discipline or inner virility to just do what needs to be done no matter what.
Any tips or personal stories would be welcome, as I feel like I need some advice on this.

You just do it. You just take the first step

You can do some chem-work to make it a bit easier on yourself, and you should, because you have a lot of work ahead of you.
Eat more red meat, for more iron, for more baseline dopamine. You won't be as attracted to the compulsive behaviors you are (probably) involved in.

>I don't understand---
No. You don't because you are thinking. That is your first mistake. Thinking is for successful people. Stop it right now. Just do. "but I nee-" no. You don't. Why are you still reading this? All this is going to do is give you the sensation of improving without doing anything, thats all the plannign does, that is all the asking these frivolous questions. You just need to do it.

Also I feel like I need to clarify, I am not a neet, this thread is more general and not dramatic at all. I am successful in the things that I do and aspire to be good at, but having discipline in more menial and lifestyle-related like sleep and exercise is hard. I've made it better, but I'd like to be more on "schedule"and less controlled by my feels, which is why I posted.
One of the anons said to eat more red meat, and, generally, I've been realising just how important diet is, so I'll be paying way more attention to that.

enjoying the process is much more rewarding than being goal oriented
maybe you don't like the process of what you want to do?

Nah as i said above, this is about lifestyle. I study game design and I absolutely enjoy every creative process I engage in, and I stay at the top of my game too (lol)

I guess you could say I don't enjoy sleeping (I have some kind of odd phobia of falling asleep from childhood, I get fixated on the moment of falling asleep and snap out of it when I just begin to drift off), same can be said for working out. I do work out, but its inconsistent, for example I don't think I have worked out 3 times in a week in a while, while including all the essential exercises. I used to do it, but slowly the passion faded and what now? I still want to be in peak condition, but not enjoying the process as much mustn't discourage me from the sole goal, right?

its all about recognizing your needs entirely. sometimes you gotta take a break, sometimes you gotta work, or eat or sleep etc.
the important thing is to take time for all the things you need to do without neglecting your own motivation, dig?

Yeah I guess so
One thing that helps me massively is talking to people. It's the most important thing. If I myself were to give advice, it is to meet up with somebody at least once every two days. Keeps every negative thing swelling inside of you at bay.
