thanks:)

Surprised no one mentioned Darknet Diaries by Jack Rhysider.
Top notch content about technology. hacking, secret government operations, OSINT, social engineering, etc.
I'm enjoying this one a lot rn.

>Top notch content
Absolutely not. As much as I would want to like this podcast, I don't. He explains everything as if he is talking to a child, asks stupid questions and tells cringy "nerd jokes" all the time. Some guests are interesting , which is why I occasionally listen to the show, but every time I am annoyed by the host. All the technical details are skipped over, and instead you get another bad explanation of what bitcoin or what tor is in every episode. It would be nice if anyone could recommend a podcast like that, but with a target audience of somewhat tech savvy people.

Not really podcast, but I found introductory college courses pretty neat. I just yt-dlp them from YouTube and then listen to them on the go.
Though I tend prefer listening to history or some easy philosophy, because technical topics are 1. more difficulty 2. better explained with visual aid.

I actually find history more tedious. Not boring, I actually do love history, but I find it hard to stay focused, and then you have all these names and places and stuff.
Technical topics on the other hand I find easier to follow, even if I'm not closely following the math, I can picture the concepts in my mind and follow along.
Funny how we are all different.

For a long time I thought it was Jackery Cider.

>He explains everything as if he is talking to a child
I don't think so. It's literally 5 seconds to explain something like what is a DDOS and then right back into the content. Remember the point is the stories of what happened not the technical details.

>I really enjoy some tech related episodes of the lex Fridman podcast
Only 10% of his episodes are tech related. The others are very hit and miss like asking a professional poker player "what is love?". Or he'll have on a free market economist and nod along like a dog, then next week have on a marxist scholar and again nod along like a dog. Not even Lex himself learns anything from these interviews. I think he completely lost credibility when he did the Kanye West interview though.

>Honestly can't come up with a single podcast that is worthwhile.
Many podcasts are basically just friend simulators. Especially when there are multiple hosts.

I'm not familiar with him but when I notice other podcasters doing this I try to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are just giving air to a variety of viewpoints rather than constantly forcing their own. Just last night I listened to some show where the host three different times in one interview kept pressing the guest on one "controversial" topic which he has never expressed an interest in and he kept saying how he wanted to stick to what he knew. It was tedious.

I hate this, especially when they do have interesting topics or guests but you have to keep skipping ahead, skipping ahead, to get past their stupid jokes and anecdotes of the previous week, not to mention lengthy shoutouts to people in their patreon jerkoff circle. Shut up already.

>give them the benefit of the doubt that they are just giving air to a variety of viewpoints rather than constantly forcing their own
That's true. I find the best interviews are where the host just lets the guest talk. When they say something you don't agree with you don't have to fight them on it or disown the point, just let it hang for a moment and quietly move on to the next topic.
I guess what I mean is I find it annoying when the host completely changes their personality depending on who they're talking to. They have a pro-Trump guest and they're all go MAGA build the wall and then they have an anti-Trumper on and they're fuarrrk that guy worst president ever. Like dude what are you doing.
In Lex's case it's also about delivering better content. If 2 guests completely contradict each other how can you not bring it up. "Marx says that capitalism always tends towards monopoly but last week Dr. Murphy made the case that monopolies are the product of government interventions what would you say to that?" It's not about being on one side or the other it's about digging deeper into the arguments.
>the host three different times in one interview kept pressing the guest on one "controversial" topic
hehe. Say the line so we can cancel you and get 10k downloads.

No Agenda in a nutshell. The hosts are not even friends so the banter is double annoying and pointless. And they literally spend an hour every episode reading out donations and notes from donors. Jerkoff circle is exactly what it is.

Tales from the Afternow, more of an audiodrama than a podcast, but a very interesting cyberpunk/horror narrative.

Ambient Reports : 2087, written and read by the same guy as above. This is an audiobook, but it reads like a podcast in that it is a bunch of short stories, in the same world but most not following each other.

The Fourth Ambit, similar kinda 2000s radio play. Very interesting!
The above are all more radio plays than actually informative podcasts, but I can't really think of anything else of than just audiobooks of nonfiction..
