Old internet horror

I love horror that's uncanny and weird more than outright scary. Ten years ago the internet was full of this stuff and I ate it up. RPGmaker horror games with ominous music and bizarre writing to make up for soykaf gameplay and graphics. /x/ greentexts and /r/nosleep stories that were original instead of all starting with ">be innawoods" or "my dead dog is messaging me on facebook [part 53]". Ted the Caver and even early Slenderman stuff was alright. Also movies like Coraline which I think was for kids but got creepier and creepier the more you thought about it. I'm asking Lainchan if they know of any websites with a similar feel to this early 2010s internet horror (or older). This website and the people on it are the best thing I found on the internet in years. Feels like the internet I remember before smartphones.

Have you watched the youtube series Petscop? I’d highly recommend it, and it might be similar to the uncanny sort of horror you’re looking for.

>>33124 Not OP, but I started watching it because of your post and I'm really liking it so far. It's very unsettling. I've had an idea floating in my head of making a homebrew for an older console and giving it a fake backstory as some nearly lost media for a while now and it's very cool to see someone else do it and do it so well.

>>33124 what's funny was that when MatPat was theorizing it and was making parallels between that series and a case of an actual kid being murdered and using cutesey sprites. I saw people soykafting on him for it and then the actual creator said it used that child murder story in their series and was seriously regretting it.

>>33123 Ted the Caver was such an interesting pasta due to the pictures. If I were to reread I would probably find it very soykafty but man, the pictures. To answer your question, definiely check random neocities sites, it's almost like traveling back in time to late 90s to early 2000s internet, and you can find some eerie and slightly disturbing but silly things in there.

>>36961 Reading ted the caver for the first time was my favorite internet experience ever. Still chasing that high

>>36963 Yeah that waa pretty awesome. I remember that back in the day I would believe in about half of the creepypastas I read tho. Ted the caver was among the most believable ones. The gaming ones, like the Lavender music one and Ben Drowned were my favourites. Scared the soykaf out of me for a few good years... felt bad when I found out that the lavender one got debunked, I really wanted it to be real at least partially.

Posting my favorite creepypasta of all time. I have some deep fascination in the idea of the true deep web. Do you know any other stories/media with a similar vibe?
