I used to solve the sudoku that came in my hometown newspaper and about once every 3 months I'd get stuck, check the solution in the next issue of the paper, and see that they had a line or two that doubled up on a number. Pretty funny.

Not that lain but you can solve them more efficiently using the pigeonhole principle. Sudoku people have a special name for it and for the patterns that happen often in sudoku that let you quickly apply it, but I don't remember the terminology anymore. There are some puzzles where you will always reach a point with two or more possible options and you do have to do some guessing and hoping, but that should be a rare part of your solve.

Honestly I got awfully stuck with it at some point and had to bruteforce it, Ihad to comb all rows and columns until I found the sneaky little number. It got easier when I got past it.
I solved it and tried to post it but lainchan being a bitch it didn't let me and I deleted it.
