you do too much school literature analysis, first of people want the situation not the identity so personal flaws dont apply since you stay yourself. Friends? You made friends, you can do it again. Nonissue. But look at her room, especially while a kid yourself you get jelly how she has a room full of pc's and parents that let her be which is again appealing when you suffer helicopter parenting. She literally got what you want. How could you not to be in her place? That's the appeal.

Lain(Latent Artificial Intelligence Network) is a ribosome expressed computer program that was intentionally made to be cross compatible between Neumann and non-Neumann(DNA) computer architectures. They literally say it in the show. It's just another way of imagining cyber-brains like ghost in the shell, but instead of a digital interface, coding in DNA to therein make a brain able to interface digitally.

>>30909 theres a sense of "omg theyre literally me" for people who suffer from mental illness and loneliness, and maybe also are autistic or an interest in tech. for instance, look at mr robot, or drive and bladerunner 2049, they heavily lean into those themes of being lonely and isolated, struggling to connect with others, which is something nerds, autistic and genderqueer people also tend to struggle with as well. plus people may desire to immerse themselves in engaging stories that they see as more exciting than their own. (mr robot spoiler) an episode in season 4 of mr robot talks about this exact thing but i dont remember the exact episode. i dont think its something to be shamed, but people who tend to be emotionally struggling can struggle setting that boudary between entertainment they consume and their sense of self and thats something that shouldnt be allowed to get out of hand (source: literally me lul but im working on it)
