I fuarrrked up. I could have been who I wanted but the time has passed. Sure, I can still be a better version of myself or whatever if I wanted, but its now too late to be who I really wanted to be. Its hard to get over it

Sometimes we only realize it truly after a long time, it is because our wisdom increased but our memories remained the same. Are you sure the you from the past would have enough wisdom to follow through? Are you sure have changed the past experiences would leave you to a wisdom level enough not to throw it away? Maybe you are the best version of yourself and are just being harsh on yourself. Maybe many years from now you will look back and be glad of your bad choices leading you to clarity of mind enough to pursue your dreams. Better late than never.

>>30572 I appreciate your words. It probably is the case that it did not happen because it couldn't have happened; I was too stupid back then. Perhaps it is more of a "wish I realized sooner" situation. I know I will need to be my best self moving forward, but it still hurts. I return to it often in my head. And no, its not a single missed opportunity I regret, it is rather who I could have been that I regret not being.

>>30573 lainon, I think even this is incorrect. If you'd just happened to do whatever you wanted to at the time, who's to say you wouldn't have made the same mistakes later? And then the consequences would have been much greater; greater the height farther the fall and all that. Right now, though, you've learned about the importance of commitment and how far you can (could have) get yourself, and you did it when consequences were minimal, so you've got the best opportunity to accomplish things moving forward. Wisdom always costs baggage, so if you've happened to minimize it you've come out on top. Do a rare few manage to accomplish without making any mistakes? Sure, but I'd argue only by luck. Without the wisdom of experience, they more happen into decisions than truly make them; we all know not to worry about people who are lucky or unlucky in small ways, so just practice applying that to the big ways as well and don't worry about them. You've learned what to do, so just go do it and don't waste time wishing you were lucky enough to do it without knowing to, because only a vanishingly small number of people are, in the long run.

You're exactly where you're supposed to be. Focusing on the past is still a step forward.

>>30570 if you couldn't be that person then maybe you were never meant to be that person. you can only really be you.

You have passed on countless opportunities in the past, the only thing that ever mattered is what you can make of yourself in the present.
