I just left the very small group I've talked to on Discord for over a year. I feel really sad and empty now, but I know it's for the best. I was starting to feel like I didnt fit in and just always seemed to piss people off. Post stuff that has this feel

All my work friends hang out with each other outside of work, but I never get invited. When we're at work they seem like my best buds, but never include me in social events. I wonder if they dislike me, or if I'm just forgettable.

>>30472 you should organise a social gathering and invite them, they will probably include you in the rotation after that - i doubt they don't like you or whatever they just haven't pictured you in that kind of social setting before.

>>30473 >>30472 This. Most of times it's just that you showed yourself as a loner or someone who doesn't want to hang out with them, which is why they stopped or didn't invite you in the first place. Clear signs of being a loner or showing disinterest: >not being reciprocal in social situations (talking for example both the topic and amount, or inviting to social events) >declining social events multiple times >not opening up to them when they open up to you My gf for example 10+ times declined her coworkers for meetup cuz [depressed, no money, stressed out, no time]. Then all of the sudden she got sad cuz they aren't calling her anymore? I explained it simply to her. Being socially invested in a group of people isn't simply "I am feeling sad and lonely, entertain me you monkeys", it's a give and take. Especially in these noncommittal low stakes exchanges like friends and coworkers. If they don't fulfill your heart you don't HAVE to give them another chance. And that's what happens 9/10 times. For example. I know this guy from highschool, he is working couple of meters where I live, we're okay buds but it is plainly seen on his face that he is a lonely sad guy. Not only that but he won't call me over to coffee, but will always 100% go when I call him over. This is just a pathetic type of behavior in my opinion. I don't want to surround myself with a guy like that, he will be a downer. So I drop him and find myself a better friend. A guy that is on the rise in career and personal life. A guy that has a positive outlook on life, that likes to fuarrrk around and joke all the time. The fella that calls me and I call him. Now that is the fella that I like to surround myself with.

Two of my coworkers at an old job were discussing going to the gun range once, I asked if I could come and the one planning it said he didn't have enough guns. I have my own, thank you very much, but point taken. The other one (actually our boss, assistant manager) didn't say anything and I went back to my work. Not sure what I did to piss the guy off, he seemed to think he was better than everyone. Most of my other coworkers talked soykaf about him. Anyway, these people come and go. A while after he quit, another guy was hired and invited me to go shooting with him, we hung out a few times and still see each other around, being a small town. Enough of my lame stories. I'm having a similar situation with a group on IRC I've talked to for multiple years, going on four or five now. It's more of a reflection of my current state, I think the post above me is very true. However, we don't mean to come off as loners or anti-social, do we? We just do. For me, I think it's because I don't have anything to talk about any more, and that's why I don't think I can find a group to fit into very well. What do you talk about with this Discord group? Do they just not interest you any more? That doesn't mean you aren't cool or whatever, just that it isn't your group. Take some time to worry about yourself, not your internet friends. Do things you enjoy and talk to people about that. Try to remember that the approval we seek (otherwise we wouldn't be upset about our groups rejecting us, would we?) from others must come from within yourself first. Why doesn't his coffee friend invite him over, but jumps at the opportunity when invited? Because he doesn't think lainon wants to hang out with him, doesn't want to "annoy" him, then as you see this thought becomes reality. You have to like yourself for other people to like you.

Reminds me how whenever i say something on discord, people just completely ignore it. Even on really small servers, people will just continue their conversation as if my internet was not sending the messages.

>>30471 I've joined and abandoned a soykafton of online groups over the years, and I'll tell you that every online group has its day, and it's up to you to leave when the good times are over. You can't let yourself get dragged down by the fear of losing those friendships and that community—you have to accept that you're no longer getting what you once were out of it, and, on the other hand, you're not contributing to it in the way that you had hoped to. In that context, a divorce becomes necessary and even helpful. As you go through life and connect and disconnect with more people, that process becomes easier and easier. Sometimes, your relationships with others become infinitely more valuable when you accept the "now" of the connection and its finite nature instead of wedding yourself to the idea of a lifelong bond. Maybe that ideal could still come true in your life, but I don't think it can be forced. Just live life looking forward and making the best of wherever you end up, even if you find yourself looking back fondly on those memories.
