double job

Faye Valentine · 2021-12-10 17:55
Okay I currently have a work from home job that is stupidly easy, I can do all the work in 3 hours but get payed for 7. I know the company is still hiring for the same position - could I get a friend to apply, get the job, then just give me all the work they are assigned and send me the paycheck? Minus a little something for the hassle. This is just outsourcing right? Can somebody explain why this wouldn't work? I'm being completely serious by the way >inb4 get a promotion, ask for a payrise no chance I'm going to get a 100% payrise

Potential problems should be obvious - getting 2nd job on paper could threaten friends primary job / unemployment status. Corps dont like you to cheat on them cause it threatens your productivity in your main job. Lastly you have to figure out taxes.

>>29192 >getting 2nd job on paper could threaten friends primary job / unemployment status But how would they know? My friend walked into a job straight out of college, he could very easily just say they aren't currently working and there wouldn't be a very big gap on his CV

corpo will demand your friend be in meetings and soykaf too, and if he literally doesn't know what's going on he'll get fired. It's still a time commitment for him which might conflict with his real job.

>>29195 You're underestimating what a joke this job is. Its admin work for the government, our meetings are on zoom and 90% of the people don't have a camera, 80% don't speak. Plus even if he got fired what would it matter? Just never mention it on future resumes. Unless there is some sort of secret employee database that he could be blacklisted on

>>29194 taxation. There are special rules for running 2 jobs. If 2nd job doesnt know they are 2nd job they will pay wrong taxes and then gov will notify them.

>>29198 that's probably not how it works I've never heard of having special rules for a 2nd job, usually it's about informing them for taxation reasons, so you aren't under taxed, but you also have to inform both jobs of that, so the first job doesn't under tax you as well. but let's say you don't inform? the government will just ask for the money during tax season and you'll have to pay out of pocket. So in the end there is no problem, and you still made more money than you would have otherwise. and the proper term is called tax withholding. >>29192 this is probably considered fraud even though tax is still being paid on it, it could be that less tax is paid or more depending on your friends income. an alternative would be to negotiate a new salary with your employer and do it all. from their perspective though, they will resist doubling the wage, because they won't believe you are working 16 hour days, and instead believe they don't give you enough work and will just increase your work load anyways. And companies like back up for when someone goes on vacation. another alternative would be to form a company and convince them to out source all that work to you, and then they don't know if you have employees at all, then you pocket it all.

>>29201 Might be different country, here 2nd job gets taxed different to 1st. If its a minijob it can be up to entirely taxfree but if its a real job you can be taxed above 1st and you can decide which you set as first and second to reduce taxes depending on your situation. >usually it's about informing them for taxation reasons, so you aren't under taxed Thats the point, if OP wants to do it stealth second job he wont inform them and then they will get gov knocking because they will pay wrong tax for him.

>>29201 >instead believe they don't give you enough work and will just increase your work load anyways. This is precisely why I would keep it secret. Even if they offered me a promotion it would not increase my salary anywhere near the amount that a second job would, and the increase in workload from a basic admin position (which I do now) to a managerial one would be way worse than just doing twice as much of the admin work. I live in the UK btw if that helps for tax purposes. I scoured my contract and didn't see anything about outsourcing or subcontracting, but I don't imagine they would be happy if I did it and they found out. fuarrrk man I just want a decent wage without having to kill my soul and body at some consultancy firm.
