I used to use it when I was trying to learn Japanese. Quit just because I was doing nothing but kanji/vocab flashcards and not trying to read manga or something. Then I realized I wasn't all that motivated to learn it to begin with, there's barely any Japanese media I'm into that hasn't already been translated.

>>28356 Using it daily to learn kanji with an RTK deck. I am also using it to memorize keywords for tarot cards, one card per day. I used it for Japanese vocab with core 6k in the past, but I'm giving it a break until I finish RTK. I also used it to memorize the answers to the FCC amateur radio exam questions. Core 6k with audio I found on daily Japanese thread website, other decks I downloaded from anki website except for RTK, which I made a custom deck to have both keywords in my native language and English. It is very easy to automate deck creation with csv files. You can parse data from tables you find online using regexp (for ex. with perl) and generate a simple csv file and directly import it to anki.

I'm using it to lean Japanese. I started with the 2k deck but I got burned out by the volume, and because a lot of the vocabulary was "boring". Now I'm building my own deck by reading a few pages of manga every morning, and adding whatever vocabulary I find interesting. That's a much better approach imo. A bit slower, but more immediately useful, as you learn words directly related to your interests. >>28357 >there's barely any Japanese media I'm into that hasn't already been translated Unironically, once you start reading the raws, your realize how much is missing from the translations.

>>28360 is there a way to get 2-way cards from CSV ? I mean one line creating both answer->question and question->answer cards
Lord Nikon · 2021-09-16 14:07
>>28363 Yes, it has nothing to do with importing but with your note types. Once you import, go to note types, select the same note type as the imported cards, then cards and on top right options button, finally add card type. Edit it as needed.

>>28356 Anki is amazing, just don't be a Anki Drone, I suggest making your own decks instead of using pre-builts it works for retention by a landslide.

>>28366 for language learning yeah making your own decks is better, but for stuff like geography public decks are very fine

Anki really feels to me like a complication instead of a solution. And it's boring. I have no time for mere memorization drills. That said, I did try anki for a while, and it kind of worked. I was trying to memorize cangjie codes. But as I said, it's kind of boring. I had tried other flashcard systems in the past, for vocab building. Still didn't see the point to it. Didn't really work int the long run.

It's good to learn purely theoretical BS. It's useless for anything which needs actual thinking like math.
