soykaf is fuсkеd, lain it feels like the world is collapsing in slow motion and sure, it's fun - but then you have to sleep in it and then you wake up to the smell of decay the worst kind, produced by rotting humanity every day my dad died last year my grandfather last month the rest are putting on a brave face, but they will be gone in a couple of years i always wanted to be alone but not like this every time i go down the subway the facereco system there gets a little better soon enough it will be good enough to charge the fare from a single shot brick and mortar retail is in agony, and cash along with it buying cryptocurrency is becoming a problem, unless you have it in the first place the DPI around here is being slowly adapted to ban all anonymous traffic with the possible exception of tor bridges my poorly camouflaged vpn server is still reachable, but for how long the public, finally, sees computation as a source of power - and so it will be restricted to those who have it this isn't hard - as the general purpose compute moves to the cloud, you could simply limit availability to individuals and let the plebs use their phones the surveillance economy already implicitly penalizes you for privacy by pushing the alternatives to expensive and time consuming fringe soon, they will penalize you directly - by making decreasing the credit rating for every extra bit of anonymous uncertainty all of this can be addressed, I know there are ways to fool this things and to sidestep them you can even fight them you can also fight an avalanche with a shovel i'm going to bed now good night

>>28747 >I'm just gonna prep as much as possible Imagine thinking you can prep for the collapse of society. When the climate wars start, the food runs out, animals die out and the soil becomes unfit to grow anything, your camping gear wont be of any help. We will live to see the apocalypse, and all we can do until then is rides earth's burning carousel.

>>28265 >all of this can be addressed, I know imagine how great it would be to live in a functioning democracy, informed educated people could like "vote" for things, and then competent politicians would do act on that, and do whatever is best for everyone. Crazy utopian nonsense, amirite?
Nanashi No Gombe · 2021-10-25 16:31
>>28754 If the implicative speech act of this specific avatar of Lain is that the contemporary emanation of the idea of democratic governance is "functioning" in the verisimilitude of this idea's ideal portrayal which acts here as an extension of this avatar's psychogenic silhouette of headspace, I think the avatar is gravely falling into incomprehensibility pertaining to this particular extended product, for it seems so, that the reference of the expressed sentence does neither comply nor conform with the matters of actual fact that comprise the meatspace. Alas, there might be a factor or two here, I suppose, upon which the products of the avatar's extended mind depend - at least to an extent - and which we are compelled to take into account, namely 1) around where in the meatspace the avatar's physical presence has been made manifest, and 2) where it is currently subsisting at. It might be congruent to hold that one emanation of the specific idea being considered here has established an agreeable connection between the ideal portrayal and the contingent matters of actual fact, whereas another emanation, preemptively undone by discordant truth-values of these sentence elements, has not been able to establish this homomorphic relation by the reason of logical interruption between the ideations of the headspace and the actualities of the meatspace.

Hacker · 2021-10-25 23:03
>>28754 >Crazy utopian nonsense Yes. >democracy >informed educated people First of all, this is insanity. You are only allowing "informed" and "educated", whatever those words even mean, to vote. This is going to give the illusion of democracy. You are also only allowing a certain class of people, a superior people, to vote. Well, you actually just described an aristocracy. . >competent politicians would do act on that "that" being "what the aforementioned aristocrats voted for". >do whatever is best for everyone What is best for everyone is rarely what people vote for, both aristocrats and a true "democracy". So, these contradict. Basically, yes it is crazy liberal utopian nonsense.

>>28762 >I bet you couldn't survive a week in the forest. It's rather hard to find food out in the wild unless you know the area+season and worked whatever method out there before hand. The difficulty for surviving a week depends on the area, weather, experience, and gear you bring. If I had my pick of my gear then sitting on my ass and eating oatmeal and peanut butter for a week is not that hard if anything it would be extremely boring. Cleaning water isn't too bad as long as you pack some basic stuff like filters, purification tabs, and a camping stove (last resort). Also, bold of you to assume I have bears in my area. >You profoundly misunderstand the kind of "collapse" were talking about Climate change won't end the world anon, it won't be fun but you overestimate it.

Depends *which* forest. I recently moved so if I got stuck out in the woods here I would surely die, yes. Back home I could probably make do if I really had to. >You would be incapable of finding anything to eat This is the big one. I used to know the local edible/poisonous plants and some medicinal herbs but none of them grow here. Hunting with bow and arrow or spear is similarly not that hard. >get sick from drink tainted water this one's easy if you have any kind of water bottle and know how to start a fire, just pasteurize it. >and then get mauled by a bear. bears are surprisingly easy to deal with, except mama bears, then you're pretty much fuarrrked.

Am i supposed to find this hopeful? The frequency and gravity of such events is not reassuring. Sure seems like the future has very little to offer >I read a survival booklet once, all you gotta do is not encounter bears. Are you sure you're not overconfident in your survival skills, rambo? My post wasn't supposed to be taken that literally, most people you could survive a week, most people would certianly be dead within a year. To think that living in the woods is even an option is childish and delusional, if it gets to the point that reverting back to hunter-gatherer is the best option then the game is over and we have lost. >>28778 >as long as you pack some basic stuff >as long as you pack some basic stuff >as long as you pack some basic stuff when you run out of said basic stuff, i give you 7~14 days >Climate change won't end the world anon It will most definitely end the world --> as we know it >you overestimate it You say that with alot of certainty, perhaps we are using different datasets. From where im standing studies have been underestimating the scale of climate change for decades. Things are worse and happening much faster than predicted, the feedback loops are starting to kick in, with is no end in sight.

>>28265 >my dad died last year my grandfather last month Should have gotten the Putin vaccine. I don't see anything wrong with what you're describing. You hate social control but probably don't even do drugs, go to parties or ever vandalize anything kek. You occupy your mind with non-problems because being a paranoid loser is a cope against taking risks and doing whatever you want in whatever conditions you find yourself in. Just get a drug addiction and do whatever you want, and if you go to jail, fuarrrk it. The worst they can do to you is put you in jail, which isn't even that bad

I've taken the cyberpunk approach as a traveller of sorts. I know I'm at the bottom, but I pick up the scraps, tech or otherwise. I'm all about anything that doesn't funnel the fruits of my labor back up to the top (amazon, google, facebook, etc). It's getting harder as OP stated though - car insurance is more expensive if you don't install the GPS tracker, the busiest corners of the internet (where all family, friends, and coworkers are) are selling our data (and getting breached all the time), and the crackdown on coin exchanges and DeFi means free travel between platforms (and some privacy) will be a thing of the past. I think the realization that any one person is irrelevant and can't do anything to stop this hit me harder than I wanted to admit.

Now days if I got locked up it would just be annoying that I had to figure out a new place to live and wageslave position when I get out. Plus drugs stopped being fun and started being sad years ago. Against overwhelming odds the best thing to do is prioritize your own comfyness to spite the headman's axe. >>33160 The best I feel I can do in the face of what you described is just make it as annoyingly difficult for them to monetize my attention as possible. Pirate everything I can. As advanced as their systems for surveillance get just remember that police hardly even respond to most calls in major cities. They don't have the manpower or competence to justify frying peasants who are just rattling their cages a bit. I also feel that the more measures you take to anonymize your traffic you're essentially flagging it as suspicious behavior. It's less likely that the Wolf Brigade is going to kick down my door for streaming free movies and playing hentai games than some economic catastrophe causing us to start eating each other.

WEF already envisioned a parallel society developing. Though, I think of Palestinians and other oppressed/3rd world populations, and shudder at what may be planned. That said, any dependence on the technocratic infrastructure will further divorce you of any chance to be a part of any parallel society. Joining the Freedom Cells network is a good start: support those businesses and make connections there. Make your place of living as resilient as possible. Solar panels, rain catchment systems, grow food, use predominantly local media for entertainment, etc. Try to situate yourself outside of cities, particularly to avoid being a victim of crime, and have a bugout plan ready to go on a minute's notice. Make sure to save your money in resilient and multiple forms -- silver and gold are good but may become subject to confiscation, Monero is good but is subject to crypto market manipulation which could force it to 0... Point being to make sure to diversify. If this road continues fiat will be worthless, but make sure to have a bit for quick access in emergency. Have not just guns but pepper spray, tasers, and protective equipment as well. Meditate, get spiritual, and prepare for a war of attrition against evil. Do any one thing on this list and you'll be better equipped than most for the storm coming in.
