Are we winning the culture war?

Miho Iwakura · 2021-08-15 21:08
Moe, the most frowned upon genre of anime, is becoming essentially mainstream among today's youth. Memes originating from 4chan are spread all about the internet and exploits of that website from years past are still discussed by many while most websites from that era are long forgotten. It is no longer the case that only fat neckbeards have anime profile pictures, I know several attractive women who post their pictures with edited in characters from Highschool DxD, Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh. Am I living in a bubble? Is my vision of the past or present skewed? Or is it the case that we are winning the culture war?

Anime got more important because it offers an alternative to the calii sjw cult but because it got important and is killing in profit while their own products make losses it also became a target for subversion. They are now trying to push their ideology into anything jp produces. The success in the west is essentially a risk for its continued existence because it now jp might start caring more about what western consultants tell them and they will wage slave their sjw soykaf as it turned into a battlefield for the public minds.

>>27862 >Am I living in a bubble? Is my vision of the past or present skewed? Or is it the case that we are winning the culture war? What the fvck are you on about? Which culture war? The one waged by rightoids against leftists, the one by leftists against rightoids or the the one by corporations againts basically everyone? I mean, ffs... in the 80's and 90's it was an escapist medium for the westerner nerds from the corporate dystopia that they were basically living until after the 90's it was turned into a massive consumerist festival, if not even a little bit earlier than that. Let me put it in terms you can understand, my lainon. There is no culture war to be won, as long as capital is the prime motive of social life. When in the olden' times the jig was about being most attuned to the "inside culture" of anime, now it's about having the most expensive of figurines, collectibles and whatnot, that you could ever hope to purchasing. Don't you get it that it's all just the Spectacle talking?! So for the love of Lain, in the name of everything that is holy about her, stop with this nonsense before it is too late! >>27864 >sjw You pathetic piece of soykaf, don't you get it?! It's a lot worse than that!! Oh my goodness, you just don't get it, do you?!
Dozer · 2021-08-16 04:44
Netflix and the other services overfed their customers, and now the bored youth turned to anime which they knew from random childhood stuff like DBZ, Doraemon or whatever. If you want to see that as a culture war win then sure.

>>27865 > You pathetic piece of soykaf, don't you get it?! It's a lot worse than that!! Oh my goodness, you just don't get it, do you?! Instead of just spewing meaningless noise, just come out and say what you mean.

>>27862 The popularity of anime does seem to keep increasing, for better or worse...

>>27862 Define "we". (This stuff in parentheses is is empty meaningless text to pad out the length of this comment so it makes it past the filter.)

>>27862 If by "winning" you include horribly exploited. I'm not one of those users that want to try and gate keep anime, but they've already ruined most western media. The absolute state of the anime industry is no better than western cartoons so what does it even matter? What would have been a true "win" is if western cartoons stuck to traditions ''while'' also changing more like anime. Things like Teen Titans, Batman, Transformers, classic Disney. The anime style was originally based off old Disney movies anyway. >>27865 Communist spotted. Nuclear warheads activated. Thread derailment inbound. >You pathetic piece of soykaf, don't you get it?! It's a lot worse than that!! Oh my goodness, you just don't get it, do you?! sneed and dilate tranny. You're part of the problem.
Junichi Fujiwara · 2021-08-18 02:44
Anime is more widely accepted. Dumb people will like trash anime because they don't get or can't appreciate the good ones. In any medium there are good ones and trash ones. Dumb people continue to be the problem.
Koos van der Merwe · 2021-08-18 03:30
>>27862 No, how many youngoids do you think have actually watched Lucky Star or Azumanga Daioh? It's just mid-2010s memery that assumed a life of its own, basically irony culture and humour based in self deprecation collided to bring anime aesthetics into the mainstream ("oh haha, anime is for losers so wouldn't it be funny if I used an anime pfp?"). Being an ironic weeb won't be in the vogue forever.
William Holtzer · 2021-08-18 10:45
>>27864 >Anime got more important because it offers an alternative to the calii sjw cult Ironically a lot of those people are the biggest weebs you'll ever meet.
Nanashi No Gombe · 2021-08-18 23:36
>>27905 Which is part of the problem. Some of those expat to jp actively try to push their ideology there with a lobby group they created. The real irony is people screeching diversity dedicate their life to erasing a different culture.

speaking from experience as a zumer, this is not the case at all people either watch soykafty anime semi-ironically or they just completely ignore it, i have only met a few people with actually good taste it's an obsession with 2000's internet culture, and with that comes soykaf like moe and whatnot
Hong, Guil Dong · 2021-12-06 16:12
normal people adopting jp culture is a bad thing, it created an incentive to subvert jp culture to regain control of the peoples mindset. Now all the western trash pushes their ideological garbage in jp.
Jens Hansen · 2021-12-06 18:29
fuarrrk this board is soykaf these days
