Mentall instability in kids
Marly Krushkhova · 2021-08-08 15:00
What will quarantine kids, and kids in general last few years be like when they grow up? This is for real. Remember that what they are watching, and now with quarantine even more, are these mindless "BOSS BABY GETS ELSA PREGNANT NO WAY PRANK 2018" videos. Last two years they didn't even go outside. Call me too worried, but they should be sheltered from this, I can already imagine their attention spans being lower than today. It scares me.
Chani · 2021-08-08 15:06
If it makes you feel any better OP they would be doing this regardless of quarantine.

Some will be super obedient, some will be super rebellious. Which way the ratio skews will be interesting though.
Netrunner · 2021-08-08 15:20
Oh, it's actually more than just the videos they consume, it's the fact that parents nowadays leave them alone too much, and don't put much effort into parenting, and when the soykaf starts spilling, they wonder why their kids are so uncontrollable, have no attention span, are easily irritated, spend much of their time behind the screen and have biiig problems learning. I've seen it all, and it's all a result of children being raised by tablets and smartphones. I myself was predominantly raised by the computer, but I luckily got into imageboards, and was gradually redpilled into excercising and reading more scientific literature. But for those who are bound by the shackles of simple minded entertainment, I only see the path into slavery.

It's easy to burn dopamine receptors with low hanging attention grabbers, it's hard to regain them while just being bored.

I know. I think I played games and browser the internet since I was like 4. Might have fuarrrked me up cause I couldn't read longer than a page book and always was the slowest in school. At least it went away with time. But jeez, if that was me in a time when internet and games weren't engineered Skinner boxes I weep for kids today.

Funny you mention that. I was pretty good in school until grade 4, when I started playing computer games. Then my grades started becoming worse, and then took a dive when I started playing an MMORPG. I pretty much am lucky to have been able to get through college.
Vasya Pupkin · 2021-08-09 12:24
I went to school in 95-05, it was bad back then, real bad, now its just a disaster.
Even back then videogames and tv were a thing, sure we didnt have smartphones but gameboys and stuff.
The "plague" itself isnt so damaging, i mean most kids already were smartphone/sugar/cigarette addicted even before this whole ordeal started.
I dont think it will get much worse, because it cant be much worse, rather the consequences will kick in.
"Attention-span" is already near its lowest, even among adults, most cant function without looking at their phones.
Lots of children being totally disconnected from "the real world" is not new, but it goes into extreme ways.
Needless to say we live in a literally more than just one way sick society and this will only get worse until it gets better.
That being said there are also lots of young people who do not engage in those things and prefer to spend time in nature and such, so its not all so bad.

If they were really left alone they'd be fine. They'd probably go out and poke a frog with a stick or skip stones off the settlement ponds. That's how kids learn.
But they're never truly alone. They may not be getting social interaction but Alexa & co are always watching and they'll hear it from their parents if they engage in any unapproved learning.

parents not knowing what their kids get taught would be the primary issue. lockdown ironically pushed against that with many getting outraged and pushing back after hearing what the teachers taught their kids on zoom.

I partly agree but I don't think you can directly compare 4chan and discord like that. I imagine most kids never venture out of small private servers with their irl friends, but for the ones that fall through the cracks its hard to say how they'll turn out. There are many self destructive and/or malicious communities out there for them where they can't just spectate like on an imageboard.

I've been on 4chan since I was 12-13, but that was a result of being a social outcast, not the cause. I had no friends and my parents were terrible at teaching me anything, so I decided to search for answers myself, in the worst fuarrrking place on the internet.
How did I end up? Well, severe social anxiety. Also, I spend 90% of my time lying in bed and scrolling imageboards/social media. The only time when I feel truly alive is when I can ignore my body, my life and friends, so I spend a lot of time during night working on random stuff. Also, I might have gender dysphoria, but here's the problem: What if I fuarrrked myself into thinking I'd be better of as the opposite gender by spending too much time on that hellhole? I've signed up for an appointment with a therapist to find out why am I so fuarrrked up, so I'm on the right path to get out of my personal hell.

I think what will fuarrrk young people up is the ease of access to big Discord servers. Those things are giant echo chambers and often times filled with fuarrrked up people. I think it's safer for teenagers to join small communities rather than some server with 100+ people in it, power tripping admins, extremely strict rules, and people who spend way too much time chatting. I've been in those sorts of servers to see what they're like and I genuinely cannot stand them for any longer than a few minutes. Must be terrible for a young persons mind.

No matter if you want to call it "real" or not, it is a mental illness. It's kinda like depression or schizophrenia. Actually it might be a form of schizophrenia. However I don't think that medication is the best way to cure this. I think the best way would be to drop these kids in a middle of large forest and let them stay there all alone for few days in order to activate their survival instincts. They would be forced to grow some balls or die. When their brain detects that they are in a "life-and-death" situation, their survival instinct would take over and it would erase all the homo conditioning they have been exposed to.

Yeah ive spent a lot of time in those servers looking for people to talk with. Im 24 but i have no idea what people my age actually do.
The only time i really spend in person with people is when i chill with coworkers after getting out of work. I dont really have anyone my age to hangout with or spend time with, all my friends fuarrrked off to college while i didnt so ive kinda been alone since highschool and i spend most of my time working and im not really even sure how or where i would go to meet new people other than maybe some kind of hobby but i dont really have time to take up new hobbies and i dont know of any social hobbies, i get the impression from social media that most people just want to be left alone in public when shopping or at the gym so i think it would be weird walking up to people and just talking to them without some kind of reason or mutual friend.
The only time i talk to people my age is when i talk to them online and its always the same people or just silly conversations about nothing. I just want to have good discussions and communicate with people i feel so isolated. Idk i get the impression that people my age just work 90% of the time and they hookup on tinder the other 10%
I feel like this must just be a me problem like everyone i would like to talk to and interact with all went on the same vacation to some party and im just feeding the cats waiting for someone to come home. I guess its cause i stopped using social media i cut myself off from the rest of society so im just living alone in the 90s while everyone else is in the future idk i feel like an old man always bitching about progress.

Well if you want to get historical "travel quarantines" were used to prevent disease from spreading with those who "traveled" aka a ship would quarantine for two weeks to prevent spreading a disease to another port.
That would be like you want to take a plane to london so they book you and make you show up two weeks early so you can stay in isolation at the airport and recover from an illness before continuing on with your journey to london, this is more like everyone everywhere is put under house arrest indefinitely where "travel" no longer means going from one port to another, from one state to another, from on country to another, now travel means leaving your house to take the dog for a walk, leaving your house to buy food, leaving your house to go anywhere at all.
Not to mention the ban on peaceful assembly which is literally unconstitutional, they can ban me from having more than 10 people at a social gather while they praise the hundreds of thousands looting and burning down cities to demonstrate the value of black lives this was never about quarantine or science or medicine it was always about politics and power.
We have never ever ever in the western world had a "quarantine" like this and the only time i can imagine it actually being justified was during the black death, almost half a millennia ago. But the way our government functions you might be forgiven for thinking the year is 1600 still.

Parents don't even parent their kids nowadays. They can barely spend time with them in the first place since they're working 40+ hours just to get by. Nowadays, they just throw a tablet at their kid and let them have unrestricted access to the internet, and let the public schools and universities do the parenting instead. Whenever I hear about people whining about 'why schools don't teach x and y', I get aggravated because it's not the schools responsiblity to teach life skills - they are centers to indoctrinate your kids into becoming proper functioning wageslaves. It's the parents responsibility to teach their children the skills needed for life. The disconnect between children and their parents, and even other life connections (since newer generations are increasingly akward, especially in the social sense) as well as children's time being spent prevalently on the internet unsupervised, are some of the biggest reasons as to why kids have short attention spans, seem so dysfunctional, and have a tendency to be suffering from mental illness.

Maybe the real problem is kids aren't allowed outside anymore? There are laws in many jurisdictions that make everything I used to when I was a in grade school illegal unless there is an adult supervisor, including walking down the street to the park by myself. I was in the US a few years ago and in one city I learned there is an under 18 curfew of 9:00 PM. What the actual hell?

Hmmm, honestly thought youtube put an end to these clickbait pedo primers after 4chan actually did something for once and exposed them to the news (It was sensational for all of an hour)
On the thread topic, the effects are disastrous. Being around teenagers and early 20s for the past few years, I can tell you that there is already something wrong. People can't interact outside the wired. They think relationships are like what they see in their tv shows and pornos because they spent years having no other social examples. I think it had a huge impact on sexual promiscuity. People are afraid to actually talk to one another, but have no problem having unsafe sex with strangers.
Parents are meaningless, because being home schooled, parents are just the food givers while you get told what to do by your digital masters over zoom.
>>27812
This honestly scares me more than anything, as I'm basically beyond having relationships at any point in the next decade. Women my age already have children and assorted combinations of ex or current partners, or are childless medicated and depressed whores.
I've already lost touch with my younger peers, as their lives are so black-boxed by whatever the trend app of the week is instead of using foolproof an simpler technology. Imagine having to download an app, add a social media account, and then loging in just to accomplish the same thing as raising a hand or writing on a paper.

I really wish I could have gone outside as a kid. Even something as fundamental to humans/animals as unstructured playtime was compartmentalized in the form of 'playdates', of which I think I only got to interact with friends outside of elementary school about 20-30 times. Through junior high I played too many video games, and it's not like I ever had the freedom to (or even knew it would be a good idea to, or how to) roam around town for no reason. Got depressed and suicidal for all of high school, never interacting with anyone outside of school of my own volition, and only after taking a gap year before college did I begin to comprehend the social experiences I had missed, things like listening to music, how to talk to people, getting to enjoy any of the world. I realized that a big factor in that depression was the almost total lack of social interaction, which my brain unfortunately seems to crave for some reason.
Parents who do this are terrible, it really hurt and I'm surprised I'm even alive today.

Sounds like society needs to drop you in the middle of the forest and leave. You're so fuarrrking stupid don't have kids kys.

Children are second class citizens at this point. They have so many rights stripped away from them in the name of "safety" it's ridiculous. The government should not be involved in child-rearing and whoever thinks that's a good idea needs to be hanged from their pearls. The parents need to take responsibility not the state. There's such a low bar of acceptability for parents I'm surprised society still functions. literally all my parents ever did for me was give me food and shelter the rest was handed off tot he state. I didn't get any emotional support or proper guidance on life its disgusting that people think my parents are alright.

children have always been second class citizens. What is different here is that the parents and the family have become second class caretakers, subject to the ultimate authority of papa government.

Its actually a lot higher than it used to be. People get accused of child abuse for not constantly surveilling their children.
When you consider that average family working hours are way up (mostly because the wife is expected to work) and community cohesion is way down, its no surprise that parents come to lean on the state. If they're expected to have their kid watched 24/7 and can't afford private daycare then they have to put the kid in state-funded daycare all day.

Originally 80s kids would walk as 6 year old to school alone. There were always some helicopter parents but evidently not enough backlash as otherwise that wouldn't have been normal.
Right now i wouldn't dare to do this since pedos went up with the agenda to enrich europe while ignoring crime perpetuated. One london report i saw had a girl getting raped by 4 different groups before she finally made it home. Tried to get taxi after getting raped to drive home but driver drove her to his friends instead and they did it again. Would be pure neglect to let your kids still walk alone home.

I would say its higher for all the wrong reasons. Because its less about fostering a child's development and more about buying this or that for them or making sure they don't die from this very rare event. its to foster fear in people make them sick and deformed.

Crime was way higher in the 80s than it is now its just that you hear a lot of soykaf from the media about horrible stuff AND you hear a lot of soykaf from the Internet about horrible stuff. Nothing else makes headlines because its normal.

Yes. You should know that Google does lower the weight of things, if not outright removes them, if they do not follow whatever the narrative is.

Only 2 issues for kids is kidnapped or/and raped.
Amount of stores robbed aint your problem as a kid for example. That's why i was talking about that solely from the start.

you could prove me wrong looking yourself but nah just bicker contrarian
As for my actual problem with google data - every hit is only for ~5-10 year span and nothing longterm which makes it worthless for this. And the US link is funny enough from same search, they literally pushed the US report before any useful EU data in a search for EU crime statistic. Offtopic but my general impression is that google turned complete trash over the last decade. I remember getting good hits in first 3 links way back.

You missed the whole point, not surprisingly. You will link to data if it proves you right. If the data proves otherwise, why of course it's a conspiracy. I didn't have an opinion on this issue, just enjoy pointing out people's inadequacies.

this at least I agree with. I think it's because SEO became a thing, and also most of the first hits on google are ads.

It was 8chan until like 2019 lain, and it does not inherent;y make people extremist, in fact there was a counterpoint somewhere along the way where image boards were an avenue to free speech, everyone was a user of some kind, racism and sexism was joked about, but for the memes, and not because people genuinely believed that racism and sexism was a good thing. A bunch of normal people flooded to those sites in 2016 because it was where the "alt-right" hung out, and so more extremists gravitated towards those sites and started unironically posting.
