Eastern European Fashion
fsociety · 2021-07-23 12:50
Since English culture revolves around Blacks, and I do not like Blacks nor their style at all, I would like to branch out a little from my Asian style, and dress like an Eastern European Male. The local mall has a Uniqlo and a Muji (very expensive), and I typically go to Uniqlo for my clothes, maybe H&M, so I am wondering if there are any clothing stores which are popular in Eastern Europe, made by Eastern Europeans, that which I can also order from in the West for a reasonable price.
Also a place that specializes in clothing that makes you look like an actual human being and not a man child would be nice.

It's not black people themselves, but it's the African American fetishistic youth style which just looks trashy to me.

It's a joke. I know about that track suit meme, but I'm pretty sure that's an exaggeration.

Something that a normal young adult would wear for casual purposes. A store which I can look through would be enough, but it's really hard to find this online because of Advertisements.
>try looking at 4/fa/ for fashion advice
I'll probably look there.

Uhh, jeans, t-shirt, hoodie? If you mean all those fashion types, Russia (and basically all other Eastern bloc countries) are westernised in that aspect. They basically have everything we have over in the west, so nothing really special in that regard. I think things like Gucci are less prevalent there, or at least more restricted to big cities like Moscow.
And now, for some specifics:
The clothing is kinda special in some areas. A good example are old people in rural areas. Old men in villages and small towns often wear camo clothes or military surplus clothes, because of the practicality, and also because they often are veterans, which means they are familiar with military clothes and appreciate their quality. Teens and young adults, as far as I've seen it, are prone to wearing track pants for comfort, but you won't really see that on millennials or their parents (dunno the term), as track pants were seen as shabby and uncool back in the 90s/00s. Tracksuits and generally loose clothes on youngsters were also commonly associated with questionable social background, because they were often worn by gopniks (basically street gangsters, who mostly worked minimally and often went with petty crime to get what they wanted.
Basically, people are not that different in eastern Europe. Mostly minor, specific differences that are not that important in this context.

Eastern European "fashion" and available clothing choices are globalized. People buy same mass market clothes here too.
Young males wear sports/streetwear either purposefully or ironically, there are even multi-level ironic quasinostalgic sportswear brands with USSR/Abibas/FILA and 80's aesthetics originating in Russia and Ukraine. They are ridiculously overpriced and worn by extreme attentionwhores. IIRC, these brands are popular in Japan and Korea, they are a Far East version of Supreme.
Most people outside capital regions are poor, they can't afford H&M, so they have to resort to cheaper Chinese and Turkish copies. There are specialty casualwear chain stores that sell cheap clothes, jeans and shoes. It's a blessing to find a cheap second hand shop that sells old American clothes, they are virtually indestructible.
Women aged 15-25 dress mostly elegantly, but I can't comment on where and what they buy, I like "momjeans" style, it accentuates thighs, buttocks and waist, makes legs visually longer. Back in the 2000's women's jeans were degenerately low and sprayed with ugly flower patters/fake tear spots.
Older women overwhelmingly dress more like Northern European women, but they still apply makeup every time they go out to buy bread (been like this since 16th century, I checked). For example they often wear tiny backpacks instead of voluminous shoulder-bags. Babushkas are babushkas, they still wear same dress patterns that were popular in 1930's USSR.
In summer men over 30 dress like Brazilian favelado: shorts, sandals and tank top, sometimes bare chest or mesh-shirt. It's been like this since 90's, and not going away since summers are getting hotter.
In colder seasons they just add plastic or leather jacket, in winter it's parka-style coat. Sometimes they wear Russian/made in China milsurp and outdoors brands.
More sophisticated males follow western patterns of fashion and wear whatever is memed on Instagram, /fa/.
In some remote villages you probably can still be beaten for wearing Aliexpress copy of sneakers or North Face jacket.
If you seek "traditional" mens look, as in early 20th century Austria Hungary/Russian Empire urban working class, you can do this: English wool jacket, wide (salavari) trousers, laceless high boot (worn with footwraps), cab driver cap, pullover worker/peasant shirt. Difference between western style pullover shirt and Eastern European is that Russian pattern shirt has side-button arrangement to keep the cross from hanging out, and Western Slav/Baltic shirt sports ornamental embroidery (although I'm not sure whether ornaments were genuinely used on daily shirts or were part of festive shirts, or were made up in early XX century as part of nationalist LARP). I have never seen practical modern reproduction of such shirt, they are mostly souvenir garbage for tradlarpers. If it were possible I'd buy merino wool fabric and give it to a tailor. This costume is suitable for ~10 degrees Celsius weather, anything hotter, and you move into shorts + slippers territory.
