I have become traumatized by hospitals. A total of 3 months in psych wards and residential treatment centers for mental illness has broken me. I haven't been to a nedicak facility since my most recent hospitalization for "mental illness". I'm telling you, anyone kept somewhere in a place they don't want to be and constantly monitor them looking for "discrepancies" in "normal" behavior, they'll be seen as abnormal or in this case, mentally ill. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder for the hell of it. No symptoms, no nothing. Just stories made up for reasons people want me away from them. I was raped once in a residential treatment center and groped in multiple psych wards. Nobody did anything, even with my constant persistence.
I don't know where else to post this or vent my feelings. Sorry if I'm soykafting up the board.

>I was raped once in a residential treatment center and groped in multiple psych wards. Nobody did anything, even with my constant persistence.
Sorry that happened. When I was in a psych ward, there was a woman who was a compulsive masturbator and had to be separated from our ward after she got caught sexually harassing the rest of us multiple times. Crazy that she wasn't separated out after the first time since it's a fuarrrking psych ward so it had a number of mentally unwell people who were victims of sexual abuse in their past.
There was also a guy who would walk up and down the hallway all day long and then one day started whipping his dick out at the women and sing at them. A vet who voluntarily committed himself and a couple of guys who were just in for a psych evaluation before a transfer to prison wanted to jump him over it, but the women involved told them not to. Eventually the staff transferred him to a different unit.
I don't think people would be so quick to send their friends and family to psych wards if they understood how awful those places are. You're stuck in a crappy building with no privacy, nothing to do but a limited selection of books or movies that have been curated to be so banal they couldn't possibly upset anyone, and every couple of days you spend 15-30 minutes talking to an overworked psychiatrist who isn't invested in his job at all, asks you some questions from a form and sends you off with whatever prescription his form tells him to. And the whole time, half of people you're surrounded with are genuinely suffering from debilitating mental disorders and having heartbreaking breakdowns or delusions.
Then you get a bill for thousands of dollars for each day you were forced to be there.

There is a vent thread in /hum/ but I will say that your post hit way too close to home as I have some friends going through the same thing you are and I understand your trouble with going to a hospital.
The problems with a lot of psych wards are that many of them are underfunded and filled with poor quality workers trying to make a quota. For decades there have been issues where doctors look at a patient's life as a result of their condition, instead of their condition as a result of their lives and environment. If you have to talk to a doctor, please try to discuss this point with them.
Don't discount medical doctors just because some of them don't care about their patients.
I feel terrible for what happened to you, and know that there are people who care and will be here to support you. Make sure that if you have to talk to someone you clarify that you don't want your life to be interpreted as the state of your mind and you are there to get better.
If any Lains are in trouble or want to talk, please do so freely.
I also want to leave this guide here for those who know victims of rape, as it explains a lot of things that might be hard to handle for those around the victim. Please help people, as you can make a difference in someones life. No matter how small of one you think you are making, it could mean the world to them.

wait, in which soykafhole of a country do you live?
we had psych wards in Italy, and so far they have been all shut down due to their inefficacy. I have met people that ended up there, those places where basically an hypocritical cage for society to lock people in and wash their hands away.
The most heartbreaking case I met was this guy, partially deaf, but undiagnosed, since he was born from a poor family in the neapolitan slums. Ended up not learning official sign language, grew up like a dog, and was locked up in the Psych ward around the eighties. The things he told us they did to him there, fuarrrk me. Everyone knew his condition, but staff took the easy way out, constrained him and locked him up for days rather than properly addressing his inability to communicate. They put him on opioids too if I am not mistaken

Psychiatry is just thought policing, all the stuff is not there to help people but to shut em up and put em away so normal people dont need to live with the guilt of looking away.
People with mental problems have almost always been the most vulnerable and abused, this has been since psychiatry was first invented and this has not changed.
I had seen which tricks they use to fuarrrk you over, lucky i got out of that death trap.
Not to mention the fortunes shrinks and the pharma mafia make with their poisons and lies.
And because "youre ill" nobody will take any of your word for anything.
All of it is just a socially acceptable way to do away with individuals who are not liked by society.
fuarrrk the whole lot of it, id say the normal people ought to be locked up and the nuts let out, that would make for a much better world.

I don't want to sound dismissive, but the best thing to do is probably just move on and get over it emotionally. Don't think of it as traumatising. It is a clarification of who your enemies are, and what they want to do to you.

I have also been traumatized by psych wards, but also have mixed experiences in them such as sex and finding friends and relationships. Traumatized so bad that every time I was sent to be examined for possible psychosis or got an order to be sent to psych ward I fled. Once I was able to flee the examination and once even the order by driving around and sleeping in my car avoiding police until the order expired.
Coming to the mixed experiences, I have been to wards where you couldn't leave your room in the night even if you had a real urge to smoke and the personnel was very hostile to everybody, always yelling from top of their lungs. They apparently used to allow laptops, but not while I was there. However in the other unit you could just watch tv the whole night if you wanted, though they would consider it ill of course. Having laptops was also allowed and it allowed me and my new friend with a laptop have a LAN party there. I became friends with that guy and we have talked almost every day after that. Also found a woman I had a short relationship with, however he was soon sent to an another unit after they found out there is something between us. She left me month after we left the hospital since apparently she wanted to be with me just because she was more sociable in the mental condition and after that ended she found out I am boring and unable to be interesting on my own. In the better ward I was thrown into isolation damn many times for really stupid reasons. I mean really stupid reasons. Gladly they usually drugged me to sleep but it could take more than 24 hours even if I was calm there. Of course it is hard to stay calm when you are locked up and the doctor comes to tell you that you won't be released for no fuarrking reason. I also lost my job because of the absence and apparent mental illness.
