Alter ego · 2021-04-16 23:03
How to create an alterego? The word alter, which comes from Latin, means another, and the word ego, means personality, that is, another personality! We all have an Alter ego, whether at school, at work, with family or friends, we always change persona when we move from certain social circles, however, some of our alter egos do not last long. For example, I worked in a musical instrument store, my boss and salesman was someone else with customers, he spoke louder, puffed out his chest, made jokes, sometimes even forced an accent, but when a customer was thick or rude with him, his alter ego was destroyed, his mind was in conflict between his true ego and his other persona, and he returned to who he truly was, surly and shy. However, if he managed to improve his alter ego, not letting himself fall so easily, he could be a great salesman, that goes for artists too, do you think Kurt Cobain, or Freddie Mercury were the same people offstage? Of course not, they created very strong alter egos to face their crowd, the same goes for speakers, musicians, comedians, and the list goes on ... The problem of the alter ego is to get carried away, which is why in the middle of this process it is dangerous to use psychedelic drugs or rites from religions like Ayahuasca, since it can trigger a psychotic break. From that moment on, I will do meditations, try to have dreams about this alter ego of mine, I will project on him everything I wanted to be, and get to know him better, know his name, how he is, how he acts, and how to approach him , I’ll try to talk to him, or make appointments a few times, and I’m going to report here what I can learn from that, and if it’s going to work. Sorry my bad english, im brazillian kek.

>>25344 Sopa anão. :) I just think that if you force the alter ego for long enough, your brain could be tricked into thinking the alter ego is who you really are ( and at this point it is by an extent ). I think the trick is to improve yourself and become this wanted personality. As for meditating and such, that's a bit too much /x/ for me lol. But if you document your progress I will stick around, and maybe try for myself...? This thread would go well on /hum/ I think, but the jannies don't complain... As an addendum: Seu inglês é bom anão

>>25346 I moved from school to school, city to city and even between states a lot throughout my life. After some moves I took those opportunity to become a new version of myself. After some self-inspection I found the aspects in which I wish to improve and kept them in mind at all times that I was not alone. Eventually I naturally started acting upon the desired traits without thinking about it. When I got older my social circles expanded. I found myself in more groups of different people, and in which group I changed something about myself. For example, when I was on the sports team I acted more relaxed, not giving much attention to anything and not stressing out; At the same time, on highschool I got more energetic, affectionate and inconsequent. I took my time to focus in how I would act on the presence of that group before getting there and then acted. After some time I was conditioned to act a certain way in the presence of certain people and in certain places. Não tem muitos, mas eventualmente aparece algum. Procure aqui >>>/r/24929

It's interesting that many of your examples involve performers. I think performance has a way of reducing the ego. I have some experience playing live music and teaching, and when I am on stage or in the classroom my body and voice do not feel like extensions of what I am. Rather, they become tools of expression just like my guitar. In this alienated state it is easy to let the ego slip away, and then potentially to replace it with an alter ego.

What are your problems lainon? If your problems are small it's a waste of effort to try to create a whole new persona, it's much easier to merge this traits on yourself. And people that perform good on public but are afraid of personal interactions not necessarily have a alterego, that's my case, I can speak extremely well at public because I explain the topic for myself, I don't feel like I'm talking to a crowd when I'm doing this. >>25344 Instead of trying to perform another personality, why don't you just try to improve who you really are? Talk to yourself and stuff. No presente e nesse instante! Hahahahaha

>>25378 Sometimes you need another perspective to resolve some problems, and have an alter ego can help while everything is under control, at least. Que bom que temos bons lainons por aqui.

i am currently living as an alter ego. one could also call it a just a big lie. if u want ppl to think ur something ur not, first convince urself that u are that thing. i genuinely identify w/ the lies i tell ppl around me. i dont even think about it anymore. its easy for someone to believe u when u give off none of the typical lying signals and everyone else takes ur word as fact. go over your fake life story in intriquite detail, multiple times a week until u have it down and wont forget. practice telling stories that u made up. purposely change ur speech patterns until u talk that way. change the way u dress until u do it cause u like how u look. everyone just believes that i am this person. ive even quizzed ppl over why they think im like this, and they couldnt bring up a single piece of evidence. did this make their belief in this story wain? no. they've believed it for years now. it cant be a lie. i literally stole my personality from a small creator on the internet. ive ripped content from this person verbatim. the only thing preventing the complete collapse of my empire of dirt is the ignorance of my peers. will someone i encounter recognize the words that arent my own? at this point, i doubt it. thousands have bore witness to it. ig this can be an ama if anyone's interested lol

>>25783 I regret not ever having done this, i had so many chances of coming out as interesting and exciting, instead i remained my loser boring self when in truth other aspects of me have so much more depth. Now with social life on permanent lockdown and sure fire on all interpersonal interactions now traceable and verifyable and just so goddamn technological that its all pointless anyhow even meeting an interesting stranger, which still happens. You can convince almost anyone of anything really if you show the proper reactions, which first of all needs your own belief. Who knows what sort of interesting connections and experiences i could have had if i had only taken the risk of being called out and saying i had some sort of delusional episode and being sick in the head and all.

>>25344 >the word ego, means personality The word ego, which comes from Latin, means "I", so technically "alter ego" means "another I", i.e. "another me". Are you asking how to change yourself, how to develop new behaviors, or how to maintain two different sets of behavior?
Erik Johansson · 2021-05-14 14:11
>>25783 do you ever think what will happen when your irl friends find this small creator? how did this whole thing start? what was the first lie?

>>25783 >>25784 >lying instead of just becoming what you want people to think you are. The lengths people will go to just to be a lazy, waste of oxygen is pretty much exactly what I expected.
AnPsi · 2021-05-16 01:07
>>25793 >do you ever think what will happen when your irl friends find this small creator? i think about it every couple of months, and its probably one of my biggest fears. some would definitely reject me, since i was lying to them. i would hope that my closer friends would stick w/ me tho. making new friends would be hard, cause i doubt many ppl would volunteer to become friends w/ a known liar and fake person. i could maybe move to a different city or something. i hear thats what psychopaths do when they've taken advantage of enough ppl that word gets around about them. >how did this whole thing start? what was the first lie? i was a weirdo, i had very few friends, i was not in the "cool" crowd, and i was annoyingly talkative. i wished that i was born someone else for my whole life up until probably 5 years ago. i had just switched schools. i think i lied to my new friends about tagging some bridge. i just wanted to seem cool to them. but then i had to fabricate details like who i did it w/, how i did it, whether i do this regularly, etc. They believed me. I then realized that i was at a point in my life where i could throw away my old personality and way of life and just be who i really wanted to be. Who cares if i didnt really grow up where i said i did? Who cares if I didn't really have the skills i said i did? its not like anyone would care enough to find out whether i was lying or not. So i created this persona and started to force myself to become this person. this creator i ended up plagarizing actually came after i had already idealized my new personality, they just fit perfectly into it. >>25797 >lying instead of just becoming what you want people to think you are. ive actually mostly become the personality that i used to lie about. its more that the stories i tell and skills i boast are not always true. and actually ive picked up some skills just by familiarizing myself w/ them so that i wouldn't get caught in a lie. >>25784 >Now with social life on permanent lockdown and sure fire on all interpersonal interactions now traceable and verifyable and just so goddamn technological that its all pointless anyhow anyone can change who they appear to be, anytime. u might have to make some sacrifices, but its definitely possible. u could move to a new city, or even a different part of town.

One interesting thing ive had to do is compartmentalize my life. obviously, i cant have someone under the impression that i grew up a certain way talking to my parents. so ive had to keep my entire social life a secret from family. they've never met anyone ive dated, and barely met any friends of mine. they've sometimes worried that i had no friends, but i would go out regularly, so they eventually believed me. i was very nervous about the few friends i have introduced to them, but they didnt say anything that gave it away. I always stayed in the conversation b/t my parents and them just in case someone started contradicting the other's knowledge of me. im not sure how ill manage finding a spouse and keeping them from learning the truth. maybe ill just try to explain why i did it and theyll be able to understand. but thats a problem for future me lol

>>25939 simple social status. ppl look up to others for stupid reasons, like the rules they've broken and their aesthetic. i dont think anyone who has a soykafty persona in school will tell u that its fun, so i changed my persona in a drastic way.

>>25344 You may be interested in tulpas. Either way, seriously consider what dealing with multiple, disparate identities really means in practice. What situation justifies multiplicity over pursuing growth and self-actualization as a single, whole person? 'We' are on the other side of this and wouldn't wish it on anyone, though 'our' situation is involuntary and 'we' have little control over it. Granted, what you're getting at is presumably not pathological/disruptive, whereas it is in 'our' case, but still. Be careful what you wish for.

>>26015 >What situation justifies multiplicity over pursuing growth and self-actualization as a single, whole person? As in, in what way would multiplicity serve you that acting as a single person cannot, and how can you be sure that multiplicity isn't a double-edged sword in some respect?

>>25344 Hello Lain, regarding your question I have searched for some meaningful answers to give to you, However, all I found is one single result which is related to all the "Alter" communities. You will not gain any more attention than you already do if you fake D.I.D. You will only gain distrust from others, and people will laugh at you. That is my answer to your first question, now while I have looked and read your second paragraph, I see that you are over-analyzing a simple change in behavioral attitudes towards people who might be in a lower or higher hierarchy than you, which is totally fine. A person can only contain one personality, unless he has had enough misfortune to witness a life-changing event. Back to the topic on hand, it seems that you are not trying to create an alter-ego, but trying to change your general attitude towards others, this is your own decision to make. Many people will say that you should stay as yourself, and that you don't have to change anything. I personally believe, that if you believe that your general attitude towards other people is relatively negative, and leads to consequences, you should change it. However, this is also your own matter to decide on. Have a good one, Lain. - Lain.
