It's not supposed to be fast.
Back in the day before Applemanchild bought the site, kalyx had this saying about how it should work: you go out into the world, you see and do soykaf, and when that's done, you have something to post about on lainchan (if it's relevant). People who never go out into the world have nothing to say, so their posts will be meaningless and bad.
Most users still understand this, and they don't say things when they have nothing to say. There is always a few occasional wanderers who spew politics or such, but they are eventually singled out for their behavior and leave in rage. Don't be like them, be cool like lurkers who do.

Lainchan has always been slow, but the content is better than most other chans. Once in a while there are influxes of crap but it gets shut down pretty quickly. 4skin still has a few decent boards if you ignore the 12yo's trying to sound edgy. I've been using Lainchan longer than I've been posting on 4chan, but broke a streak lasting several years and resumed posting on /mlp/ this year. I really like Tor posting, but decided I was getting too far lost if I was unable to post about ponies on 4chan with my real IP address. It's the only imageboard I use without Tor.
I can't help that /mlp/ is still the best place for discussing ponies, and it's interesting to see just how much the rest of 4chan has changed, whereas /mlp/ just seems better now that the show is over and the people remaining are more comfortable rejecting what they don't like. It's amazing how many artwork, stories, crossovers jokes like this image, and everything else are still going strong after longer than a decade.
I come here everyday, and eventually there's nothing more to post, because either every relevant thread has been posted in, or there's nothing to post about, and both cases are good times to stop until there's another reason to post.
My favorite board is /lambda/, but I can only discuss programming so much before it actively draws away from more programming. Of course, that's nothing more programming can't solve, and then I'll have more things to discuss there.

It's most fun to create things. I write stories, although I don't think anyone here would want to read them. If you can draw, there's a constant draw thread just for that, as an example. It's fun to be creative, and having a partially-filled-in canvas like this makes it even easier.

That's just it, you said it yourself even if you didn't realize it. Unlike other internet cults, the horse fcukers didn't see getting their own board as a containment measure but as a gift. They were told to post all ponies all the time but only in one place and they listened. Course... it WAS a containment board but it worked for once. Usually these things backfire when they turn into staging grounds for malicious activity, something I understand is antithetical to being a pony crony, correct me if I'm wrong.

All this talk of ponies reminds me of a hilarious... or something I consider hilarious encounter.
I knew a guy at a job site I was at for a few months some time back. He was balls-deep in ponies, literally. He seemed like an ok guy, and I'm not terribly concerned with people's hobbies or interests. But man... this guy. He invited me over to his flat for some drinks, and the first thing I saw in his rented room was a truly obscene number of ponies. Dolls, plushies, models, figurines, pictures, drawings. Every horizontal surface was a shelf to his collection. Every vertical surface was wallpapered with his collection. In the center of the spacious room was a, what I can only guess since I don't have any sense of proportion for make believe things, life-sized pink pony. He moved it into the corner, facing into the center of the room when we entered and apologized. I couldn't help but chuckle. If anything, it was endearing and amusing. He clearly was very fond of this franchise (I've seen this level of extreme attachment to things like lolis or various anime and tv shows before in other friends' and acquaintances' residences. It doesn't really phase me anymore). So we get drinking and talking. He kept bringing the topic back to ponies. Over and over. He went pony riding last weekend. He regularly went to the local ranch to feed horses apples and take photos. He went over his top 10 favorite pony episodes in painfully explicit detail, even quoting them word for word (as far as I can tell without looking them up to check, it seemed convincing enough). Once he was good and hammered (it takes a bit more for me, but I was working on it), he began playing songs from the show (I think? He said some were remixes explicitly, but I couldn't tell the difference) and doing karaoke. Ok, I don't mind that. Drinking, listening to music I wouldn't normally be exposed to, having general fun. No big deal. He even wrote some lyrics out for me and I sung a few for kicks. Once I was out of beers and we started into a 40 of whiskey we'd gone in half on, things started getting a little more... intense. He showed me some fanfics and chats he had with people. It was clear to me there was a strong sexual component to these people's experience of the show. Again though, I didn't let my own discomfort make a problem, people are into whatever they're into, and clearly he felt comfortable and relaxed enough around me to open up. He eventually summoned enough courage to show me his own writing. It wasn't as polished as some he'd shown me, but what stood out to me was the detached manchild interpretation of sexual encounters and "romantic" involvement. Some of it ventured close to sadistic, but the characters would always forgive and even beg for more. This for me was something of a red flag. I knew a girl at the workplace he'd been low-key hitting on, and she'd been warming up to him. She also was into the whole pony thing, but she clearly had a much more mature attitude to things like dating. I was getting concerned he would try to live out his distorted fantasies on her. Maybe she could help him smarten up, and he'd be better for it, but then I shook it off and decided I should just mind my own fuarrrking business and stop trying to psychoanalyze him from his bad writing. Then, there was a rather dramatic change in the tone of the conversation. He started asking me questions. I'm not one to talk about myself much with new people, so I started off dodging some of the more personal ones politely. But you know what whiskey does. He got his foot in the door, and began to pry it open. We got to talking about everything from my family and kids to my sex life. He confessed he never had even dated a girl, kissed one, or anything. I was pretty confused and asked him how old he was. 27. Ok, not really the weirdest or most surprising thing in the world. I asked him why he didn't just go to a bar and meet some girls. He indicated that he didn't like women much. Ok, something of a red flag for me personally, since I'm not gay and I was worried that he might've misread the situation. I also began wondering why he had been hitting on the girl from work. I brought that up. He said, and I kid you not, I'll never forget these words, "I just need something warm to fuarrrk while I look at my ponies". I was flabbergasted. I think he saw the look on my face, likely disbelief combined with shock and maybe disgust. He smiled and said, "don't you just stick it in whoever and think of what you'd rather be doing?" The italics is his emphasis. Ok, so my opinion began to shift. I felt this was a little more than some innocent fan, or even somebody with a kink for cartoons. I read that as sociopathic behavior. However, I wondered how much I was maybe overthinking it and letting the alcohol cloud my judgement. Lots of men think about fuarrrking other people when they're with their partner, or so I've been led to believe. Or maybe I just was telling myself to soften the harsh reality I was being faced with. I've never gone to check, since I'm afraid I'll find out more than I bargained for. He laughed after a short bit of awkward silence, and pulled out his laptop, saying "let me show you some amazing pictures". Straight porn. Lots and lots of it. I don't think I've ever seen a cast of characters in so many compromising positions and situations before. fuarrrking each other, being fuarrrked by disembodied cocks, being fuarrrked by apparent humanoids. fuarrrked every way from Sunday. Next, he said there was some even better ones. These consisted of some serious BSDM. Violent, lots of what I can only guess were a mixture of pain and pleasured expressions, and some incredibly disturbingly intense scenes. He continued next with his own drawings, which in terms of quality, were some of the best artworks I've seen, very professional and passionately drawn. He must've been feeling pretty bold from my generally positive to neutral reactions. The first thing I noticed was he had self-inserted into each of those images. The usual flattery one would expect from an artist's self-representation was present, but that wasn't what gave me concern. The thing that gave me pause was the content of the scenes. Yes, it was, as one would expect, dominated by these various ponies. But what I didn't expect was the unsettling portrayal of encounters he clearly was fantasizing about. In each picture, without an exception in sight, there was generally an expression of pain on his partner's face (I'm no expert on reading facial expressions of cartoon animals, but it didn't seem terribly ambiguous to me), regular sights of blood, and frequent fecal and urine expulsion. Ok, kind of disgusting for me. However, that was just the first gallery. The second one had less bodily waste, but much much more blood. A few images were explicitly gory. In one, a sequence of frames like a comic showed the poor creature bludgeoned in the head with a blunt weapon and an eye becoming dislodged. This was followed by sexual intercourse in the eye socket. When I saw that image in particular, I slightly wretched. He looked at me, smiling, "it's ok, she's enjoying it. Nothing that a little magic couldn't fix". His smile was menacing to me. I felt incredibly disgusted. He put it away and said "I'll show you some more stuff later, it's much more tame". I settled down and told him I got a laugh out of shock images (I still did not wish to project my own ill feelings onto him, but it was becoming more and more difficult), but I had never gotten over my gag reflex. He acknowledged it, but didn't offer any apology. We continued drinking for another hour, discussing workplace politics mostly. During this time, he revealed some distasteful views on most of our female colleagues. Even the girl he had been hitting on was nothing more than some "cunt" to him for his use and pleasure. He didn't see her as much more than a piece of meat to fuarrrk, and I don't think he even regarded her that well. Most of the women in the workplace were bitches and whores, most were beneath him and most other men. There were a few openly gay men in the office, and he disparaged them worse than even the women. I'm not one to confront others about simply anti-social behaviors in private, since I don't think you're likely to change how people think. In public, you can change how they behave, but that's about it. Then he got to the out lesbians in the office... he said, "I think the best thing that could happen to a dike is if she got raped by a squad of men. Violently, viscous, with hatred and no protection". I know my face betrayed my inner thoughts, he frowned at me and said "what? If you use protection, they might not get to know the joy of motherhood". I excused myself immediately and said I needed to take a piss severely. I went to the bathroom, splashed cold water on my face for a few minutes. I looked in the mirror, and decided that this guy was fuarrrking with me. There's no way a guy who acts like him in public can be such a straight up psychopath. I took a long relieving piss and repeated a mantra of not judging or reacting. That's how I deal with uncomfortable situations, I just withhold judgement and conceal my discomfort. In most every situation I've ever been in where I've had to do this, I found out later I was right to do so. This one would be no different. I washed my hands and dried my face, then returned to his room. The laptop was out again. He was smiling and scrolling. I sat back down in my spot, and he turned it to me, telling me to check out a new gallery of pictures, indicating they were his own creations. More gore. This time, it was much much worse. There were missing limbs, knives and sharp implements in flesh, gashes in the skin. And all of it was deeply sexualized. Next gallery, even more heinous.

Genital mutilation (both males and females), similar bodily tortures. Next gallery, outright organs-exposed mutilation. Next gallery, all of the previous together at once. Next gallery, partial and complete decapitation. Always with his smiling, joyful self-insert, always scenes of extreme suffering, always with expressions of infernal pain and horror. When he finished showing off his carnival of horrors, he was smiling and had a drunk blush going on, "cool? I love it because it's so raw. Imagine being able to get to do that repeatedly?" He was loosened right up. He didn't mind saying what he thought. He seemed to mean what he said. I repeated my mantra, and then thought of people into extreme BSDM. Maybe that's just it, he's into the extreme imagery. Then, what happened next made me very, incredibly uncomfortable. He looked at me, without batting an eye or flinching, and said "I'm fuarrrking horny. You mind if I just take care of myself? Will only take a little bit". I was thinking, "jesus, he is feeling loose". I asked him if I should just go for a walk around the block. I wouldn't mind getting some fresh air and stretching my legs. He declined vigorously, "I realize it is a little gay, but you really should check this soykaf out". I pulled out a cigarette and thought, "Ok, so tonight I also get a peep show". I'm not really phased by gay activities, I just don't want to participate, so I told him to have at it and lit up (he'd previously told me it was ok and I had neglected my need all night). He smiled, and set up his laptop on the dresser, and opened some truly horrifying image that I won't describe in it's lurid detail. He then got the life sized pony out of the corner and set it up to face the laptop. What happened next made my eyes glaze over and roll back into my head. He dropped his drawers, lubed himself up, and proceeded to fuarrrk the giant pony. I didn't dare look to see the details, but I suspect he had implanted a toy into the rear of the doll for his pleasure. Creative, sure... but it made the whole situation feel that much more disturbing. He got into it and was grunting and heaving, the rear of the doll rising and falling as he undulated. I tried to look away, but I was just blown away by what I was witnessing. This completely immature man, having the time of his life, looking at the most disgusting and disturbing imagery I had ever seen, grunting and groaning like an animal, pleasuring himself without a care in the world in front of his company. The surreal moment dragged on into nearly an hour. He would start, go at it hard, then stop. Play with his uh... "partner" and then go at it again. Over and over. At some point, I think my mouth was just hanging open in pure shock. My eyes were narrow, trying to discern what I was seeing. I looked at his gaze, and it was fixated between the image on the laptop and his pleasure toy. I didn't mention earlier, but this massive pony appeared to be something of a giant plushie. If it was hand-made, it was done incredibly well. If it was commercial, lord have mercy on our souls, because I suspected this guy wasn't the only one innovating on their creation. It seemed to be reinforced internally, because it didn't collapse on its legs under its own weight (it looked very heavy), but otherwise I couldn't make much sense of it. After this went on for an uneasy near hour, he apparently finished and collapsed onto the miniature beast of burden's back, panting. After he collected himself, he zipped up and returned the uncomfortable piece of pleasure furniture into its corner. I believe I saw some of his essence dripping from the back onto the carpet. I was disturbed and disgusted and looked at the floor beneath my feet for any troubling spots or crusty spots. Fortunately, I didn't see any obviously, but by then my beer goggles were a three-image special. I didn't realize it at the time, but throughout his entire ritual, I had drank nearly a fifth of the whiskey bottle. I didn't feel nauseous, but I did feel sick. He sat down, smiling and proclaimed, "now that's fuarrrking good!" I looked at him, hoping my drunk expression was stronger than my utter disgust. It seemed to be, or he was so drunk himself he no longer could tell or care. We finished the bottle over the next hour, talking about politics, weather, anything I could think about that wasn't ponies, porn, or whatever other deranged topic he could corrupt with his disturbances. When the bottle was done, it was 4 A.M.. I was absolutely dead to the world, so I excused myself and took a cab home. I slept for the better part of the next 24 hours, and suffered for another 48. I tried to tell myself for the next few days the images in my head and the memories of the night were some twisted bad drug trip I had forgotten taken place. The next day I went to work, he was his usual bubbly self. He flirted with the girl, he played nice with the other colleagues, he showed no signs of the horrifying creature I had spent the night drinking with. The next day was similar. The following, the same. I began to tell myself that it had all been an incredible nightmare brought on by binge drinking or some drugs. There couldn't possibly exist the man I remembered in this reality. No possible way. One week passed, became two, became three. I declined to hang out with him when he asked on the fourth, because I was still low key unsettled. Then the fifth went by. On the Monday following the fifth week, I came to work and he was nowhere to be found. I had worked in the same cluster as him and his love interest, both were missing. I thought, becoming somewhat amused, maybe the little goof finally got his dick wet. The next day, their absence continued. Unusual, but maybe just a coincidence. Each day, nobody came until Friday. I went to my supervisor and asked him where they were. He talked to me in a sad uncomfortable tone, quietly and looking around for anyone who might overhear, "he raped her on Saturday night, tortured and murdered her. He spent the next three days mutilating her corpse and raping it. When the house owner came home, the smelled decay from his room and went to investigate. They found him in a bloody mess, sleeping soundly". My face must have been white. I must have had an expression of pure shock. I asked him if I could take the rest of the day off. He agreed. I went home and vomited for a half hour, then dry heaved for another. I went and checked the news, and sure enough there was a report of a rape/murder in the right neighborhood. I didn't have the gall to go there or call the house. I thought, maybe this creep put the manager and the girl up to this as a prank when he saw the news. He's fuarrrking with me big time. Nope. Neither of them came back to work. I went to the court hearings a few times, and heard enough of the details to know that it was all true. There was not much reporting on the whole situation since it wasn't the type of depravity that people want to read about. Just another pervert, just another sicko, just another murder.
A few months later, I left the city. I haven't even gone back to visit. While I realize he likely couldn't have done that to me, I keep thinking of that smile. He told me what he was going to do, and from then on I learned to take people more at their word. I also will never be able to look at a pony, bronie, or that awful show ever again in the same way. Any innocence it might represent has been utterly destroyed for me.

That's a pretty horrible story. I would never have sex with a plushie in front of someone. Until you got to the murder, I thought he was perhaps one of the Derpibooru staff. I also use the show as an escape, but I primarily use it to imagine being happy, since I largely don't have this in my life; that seems to be a pattern, that people who have happiness will imagine gruesome scenes, and people who have enough unhappiness in their lives imagine happiness instead.
>I also will never be able to look at a pony, bronie, or that awful show ever again in the same way. Any innocence it might represent has been utterly destroyed for me.
I'm not trying to lessen this, but plenty of sick people get attached to different things. I don't really care if anyone else likes it, but I'd be hardpressed to find a topic of interest that doesn't have a story like this associated with it.
I use stories like this to remind myself that, no matter how often my life inserts evil thoughts into my mind, I don't act on them, and this is comforting. In this evil world, I'm going to hold on to what gives me even a little happiness until I'm dead.

I've been thinking of this for the past bit since I've read it:
>; that seems to be a pattern, that people who have happiness will imagine gruesome scenes, and people who have enough unhappiness in their lives imagine happiness instead.
I have to humbly disagree. My life is not happy. I imagine many sad and gruesome things. I also imagine many happy things, and try to focus on those. There were periods of my life were I was happy, and the same thing happened in them as well. Really, unless I focus on my search for some smidgen of joy, then I am haunted by a persistent demon who relishes in my suffering. In the end, however, it seems most of it is self-inflicted. I hope you find some joy in your life though, especially given you've made me think about your words.

I've empathized with the guy a lot for some reason:
>finally got a friend at work
>obviously visits chans, a kindred spirit
>invite him to hang out at my place
>usually don't drink, get tipsy fast, share love of ponies
>wow, he doesn't mind
>obviously visits deep parts of the internet
>show him gore and my darkest secrets
>guy is still chill about it
>best friends forever in just one evening
>get blackout drunk together
>memories get hazy, obviously done and said something stupid
>shrug it off, too shy to ask what was real and what was a dream
>proceed with my days as usual, but nothing is usual anymore, something changed
>still too ask to shy what happened, try to invite them to hang out again
>they refuse
>even a channer refuses to talk to true me
>realization sets in, these wasn't a nightmare, these drunken memories are real

pretty fuarrrking amazing story, true or not.
I used to live with a guy who very well could have been a psycho. He was always polite and of course never showed me porn, but it was pretty clear that the friendly demeanor he had most of the time was nothing more than a mask. I had to talk to the neighbors because he was threatening towards them, and I learned later that he got into a big fistfight with his next flatmate.

it seems specific enough that i might believe it, but still part of it seems unreal. i do not tend to think of people like this man since every interest has some people that take it too far. uh props to you for not sticking iron in your mouth and ending it after that miserable experience.
it makes me seem like a normal human (which i sorta am? arguably) whilst i understand busting a nut to some fictional things is "satisfying" the people who want to make the things real are kinda disturbing. still tho the majority are decent people and as a community it seems impressive.
ive not had the show itself stick with me, tho i do not hate it. i did enjoy watching it with my young sister a few years ago, its better than the current stuff kids are exposed to. tho to be honest i did enjoy the movie of the show that was in cinemas.

This is truly an epic story, Alan. I read the post over the course of an hour long workout at the gym, during my breaks between chest exercises. I was hooked in the beginning, and twenty minutes later I was laughing out loud to the detriment of my extremely hot girlfriend's usual cardio routine. It hurts to laugh now because I am quite sore from working so hard on my square man-tit physique. Toward the end though I must admit I was disturbed. I wonder about the circumstances which lead a man such as yourself to spending this sort of quality time with an apparently retarded person. Perhaps colleague comradery is undervalued in such a society which assigns so much value to personal space and individual freedom. As I sip on my unflavored protein shake consisting of egg whites and chicken broth, I realize I have much to learn about the high functioning autist.

And everyone's spreading the most awful things instead of trying to bring something decent and new to the table.
Every alternative place is filled with /g/ people and I think I don't like the average /g/ person. I don't even like anime, so that cuts me off of 90% of internet culture.

Since I still use /mlp/, I just keep it disabled until I post, and I think using NoScript to restrict what gets allowed in that short window is decent enough. It's unfortunate, but there's not a better place than /mlp/ for discussing ponies anonymously. Another imageboard I use was recently put behind Cloudflare, so I can't even access it from an older web browser. Lainchan is still the queen in this respect. I don't even need to enable JS to upload three images.

Its okay if people come here from other parts of the internet but they need to know Lain has a separate culture.
Tech security, anonymity, hacker ethos, hyper-modern interests. Users tend to be intelligent and somewhat isolated but dont take their frustrations out on each other.

I had a really great laugh reading this. You are being sarcastic right?
Is that one poster still around who used to tell everyone who planned any creative project outside of the internet that they need to retire their dreams and get a real job or they will be poor by the time they are 30 and won't be able to afford a truck? Remember him? He actually said that about buying a truck too.

Followed the thread until it started devolving too deeply into horsefuckery. Also a (hopefully former) fourchanner. But I deeply understand the value of slower boards. I was a /vmg/ regular for quite some time (back when my phone was too weak for most games, now that I can run those games, I find myself playing Simon Tatham's Puzzles and PySolFC over and over again). There's also a value in fast board: I'd rather ask /g/ than try the slower IRC channel.
Introductions done, I lurked here a few times in the past, but I still feel off about the culture. Fuarkk and other lingo, I fear I may stick out like a sore thumb if I try interacting more than lurking. Besides no-frogs and lurk moar, any other tips for newcomers on this cultural aspect?

hello fellow rapefugee
This kalyx quote is something I can get behind, we aren't supposed to live on the chan. Take /out/ for example, one of the slowest boards on 4chan but one of the least awful, because the hobby requires you to be somewhat physically capable and inclined to leave the house, which the rest of 4chan mostly is not. Seeing years old threads on here is kind of a culture shock, but it keeps me from constantly looking at the site. However the average quality of the posts here vs 4chan is enough to make me want to stay.

I've been here for a few years now, it's a shame how much faster the site has gotten to be honest. Every day you'd get a small handful of high quality posts, now you have to sieve through a lot of lower quality stuff to get there. It's not that bad but it's too much like other technology sites now.
Meddler · 2022-07-31 16:35

I'm also a new user here. I got tired of 4chan a few years ago (but could never really quit it for long, sadly)
If someone wants to find an alt-chan that is active, they should probably check out this page https://getwatcher.net/ as it shows the pph and gets of various imageboards.
I myself have mainly been browsing 22chan, now defunct (but it's coming back soon hopefully). Its gimmick was that it derezzed nsfw and "normal user" stuff in the rules, and had a focus on elaboration and high quality posts. Of course it was also very slow, so we made many of the same arguments you see itt. I personally found the best part of slowness to be that your posts matter more, they have more impact. It makes you feel more like part of the community, rather than a drop of water in an ocean of piss. Though I have also felt quite depressed after getting no replies in threads that then slowly died in the catalog, over years...
Also, less people means you get less variety of people and content. For example, most musicians don't browse imageboards. The few that do mostly browse 4chan. So how many musicians are here? By comparison, on 4chan /mu/, [s4s] as well as /g/ are all able to make community albums; I haven't checked other boards. /mu/ can probably make a dozen a year alone; on 22chan it took us a year to make just one.
This idea applies to all things; sadly it is more likely for a person working in tech to be on 4chan rather than here, so 4chan is the place where you will find more interesting things related to tech.
It's kind of like comparing big cities to small towns. And that's why I still come back to 4chan, and I still find that one song on /mu/ that I would've never found anywhere else
cummybot9000 · 2022-12-07 17:28
can't remember the last time i came here , must have been like 7 or 8 years, i used to hang out in irc, i probably left because there was nothing to say, i have nothing meaningful to contribute, our backgrounds and context differ at such extreme that interaction becomes not only impossible but unbearable, this I realized while browsing 4chna, now i'll lurk and my only purpose is to consume all relevant information, everything else comes to me as a painful waste of time. how ironic.

I use lainchan every few days or so. I don't think its slow at all, it's just that big social media platforms and 4chan are overrun with so many people it makes every other site seem slow in comparison. I pretty much quit 4chan too. That site is too fast, its overrun with edgy 12 year olds, bots or glowies and there's way too much dumb pseduo-politics infecting every goddamn board. First of posters on social media are NOT normal people. Its like looking at the loudest class clowns in school and using them to gauge the classes.
Like twitter is 5% of population of which 1/5 write 8/10 messages. How can that represent anyone? And since these platforms all have features to ban dissenters they end up in reinforcement loops that radicalize posters.
Hiro Protagonist · 2023-01-02 10:30
>First of posters on social media are NOT normal people.
Yes, they are. Just check the stuff that normal people and b**mers post all the time at Facebook and TikTok. Drano · 2023-01-02 10:43

"i know them irl" doesn't make them normal... this is simply a tautology - As the behavior is only exhibited by a minority its abnormal behavior by definition of what "normal" means.

>People who never go out into the world have nothing to say, so their posts will be meaningless and bad.
Total nonsense. On the contrary, the more normal person someone is, the more bland and uninteresting their opinions are. It takes one glance at your typical social media site to confirm this.
Cat Mother · 2023-01-23 13:04

I just recently gave up 4chan completely myself. I only posted on a few boards and each passing year since around 2015 I've just felt more and more isolated there. I can't relate to other anons at all. Sadly the same can be said for channels throughout the Rizon network on IRC. I'm glad that I gravitated towards alternatives such as here and libera.chat.
Trinity · 2023-01-24 01:18
I only use /lit/ since you can get some good recommendations there without the horrible bait or straight up sexual psyop posting. Well of course there are still low tier posts but its nowhere near as bad as something like /g/ or /v/ and you can still find intelligent people with reasoned opinions which most boards lack completely. It's also slower than some of the other boards so thats nice too.
Why is lainchan telling me to make a better post?
Nell · 2023-01-24 14:47
>>33831
Not quite. Prolonged isolation and separation from persistent identity and connections frees your mind from illusion and social stupidity, however too long and too much, or coupled with certain traumatic and degenerative process, you become blind. So your type of awareness is deeper and more fundamental than theirs, but you're no longer a superset of them, you're just different.

Wow, a thread from 2020 lol. Well if OP is still here, I actually started coming here because it's slower. 4chan and Discord moving so fast meant I spent way too much time there and never got a chance to get other things done. With Lainchan (at least so far) the slower speed allows me to come here a few times a day without being glued to it like I was with 4chan and Discord. Kind of like a less is more type deal. I can get things done and still chat with anons throughout the day.

I think this is one of the reasons why altchans really started to take off in general. More and more people leave 4chan everyday being replaced by more bots and newer curious minds that has no idea what imageboard culture is all about. A big black homosexual that used and abused lainchan and its users for some free cash, and then when he got bored with bullying others and ego tripping and insider trading he sold it for some quick buck. He created a cult of personality around him through his grandiosity and superficial "wacky" charm but behind that persona there was nothing but a power hungry dweeb that wanted money. Website would usually be held hostage due to "bills needing being paid" that eventually people just didn't take it seriously. All communities, good and bad, have their unwritten rules, their own little culture of what's acceptable and what's not, and that's what keeps a community together. If your looking for a place without rules and biases, you won't find one because that's not community that's just shallow individualism. People have this perception of 4chan is this lawless place from the early days of the internet, something it never was. Chan sites are like rundown bars in soykafty ghettos, they have a "crowd" and their own local atmosphere, some are more friendly to outsiders and some aren't, some are comfy nice places and some are like the bar scene from Star Wars. They have their own unwritten rules, you don't like it? Leave! There is no true internet, the original internet was a network for a government weapons development agency, that's the furthest thing from 4chan you could imagine. Point I'm making is, don't go looking for a "true internet" or a lawless ruleless place, look for somewhere that suits you, that has a culture and set of rules you enjoy, and if you can't find it make it!

Same. Got on 4chan thru the 2016 rabbit hole (yes, new user) and stopped at the /pol doormat. Place was half-decent at the time, but still 35% utter nonsense overall.
Got on /X, and enjoyed that place also.
I know you point to 2016 already being the point of no return, but I was still around and still found the place usable until roughly 2018-19. That's when it really hit the fan and became pure, unadulterated bullshit. /Lit is still usable, thankfully.
Same as you, I like that there's actual discussion here. Folks actually do talk, and it's often high quality. Seriously, I have not seen a flamewar/spat last longer than 3 posts.

Also showed up and had the same reaction. Don't even remember how I found the site, but I was in and the culture seemed... authentic. Like it's an imageboard with cool vibes that ppl *actually* use.?
Netrunner · 2024-07-23 14:28
Yes but the mods allow no fun and the site is humorless. It's probably just the culture, judging by the drugs board. A bunch of addied-out millennials on antidepressants so they seem kinda soulless. Of course there's also the flood detection and post length requirements which are easily bypassable if you have an IQ above 90(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, Do not whine and cry about 8chan, lainchan.jp, "quality", "invasions", "newfags", mods, bans, or kalyx outside of /q/. We allow pleny of fun and humour. )

This community is really wonderful and better than imageboards like tvch.moe and 4chan; people there are really nice (and helpful for tech wizards).
>>41921
I agree on this, it's much better than any imageboard that may wallow in arguing, and is similar to real-life society. I don't know any other imageboards that would be as top-notch as this one.

You guys do an excellent job of running the place and I agree that it's better than most other alt-chans, but I think you do create kind of a paranoid environment with all the 'elaborate more' warnings, minimum post length requirements and annoying flood detection, and I think it drives a lot of people away ("good", you'll say). The other problem is that you seem to delete threads you don't like. Correct me if I'm wrong, maybe the OP deleted it themself, but there was recently a thread where someone posted a YT video of a guy sneaking into Bohemian Grove, and yeah, some of the replies were conspiracy-bro bullshit, but the video itself was interesting, and I think that was really a party foul move on your part to delete it for no reason, on the random board no less.
There are also other things. I know you don't want to turn this into a bitter, resentful, racist soykafhole like a lot of the other chans, but stifling user engagement can be a bad thing as well. It's also partly the userbase's fault. Any time I put effort into making threads on nuanced topics I find interesting, they die, while /hum/ and /r/ threads about inane (IMO) topics get way more traffic, and the minimum post length requirement really encourages people to let their schizo flags fly in said threads, writing huge walls of text that say nothing

>The other problem is that you seem to delete threads you don't like.
agreed
i also have an example to give: the teathreads
they always get deleted for no good reason even tho they are more compelling to read that a good 60% of the schizoposts here

I didn't even know there were teathreads. You mean like different types of tea? Sounds comfy, I wonder what problem they could have with that. Maybe the OP just deleted it, for schizo reasons

There's nothing good in 4chan-style "fast" imageboards. Most of it was just pure spam, trolling, and/or low-quality brain sludge. If you would filter every low-quality board and message from 4chan, it would end up being smaller and slower than Lainchan.

Vitamin K is bad for you?
Dox · 2025-04-22 07:19
>>45515
Yes. The form they used to use would occasionally cause jaundice, and it increases blood viscosity in the neonate, Which prevents the stem cells they just prevented from entering via placental transfusion from reaching the site of vascular microhemmorhages caused by being squeezed tyhrough the birth canal. So instead of proper repair you get clotting and vascular malformations. If your fuarrrkin' body needed high levels of circulating vitamin K at birth, nature *PROBABLY* would have made sur eit was there already. The only reason those fuarrrkwit animals inject it is to circumcise afterwards. All the stuff about hemmorage is due to all the other retarded soykaf they did, like early clamping, vacuum or forceps extraction, inducing labor with pitocin, whatever. Then they make up bullshit to justify it in a circular manner.
Stay far far far away from doctors at all costs. It's not funny, it's not cute, it's not a joke. They are dangerous beyond belief, and no matter how clever you think you are, the longer you interact with them the higher odds they'll slip something in to fuarrrk you over. You are not in control and you are not smart enough to outwit every little thing every little sh!t-for-brains cocksucker has figured out to weave into other routines matters to make it harmful.
A healthy patient is a lost customer. Always maim them so they come back. Crooked mechanic logic. Reducing them to ashes that can blow away leaving the rest of us in peace is too good for them.

Ive been on a serious fear of cancer kick for sometime.
Everything seems to cause it and apparently, the governments own sick out of control psychopaths (the CIA) have been using methods of causing cancer in there targets to kill them:
https://open.spotify.com/episode/35gJsLqZHu7rBp7ua81HVs?si=PCUgSuqpSjqeF8Oml_kmCw
The heart attack gun has been known for sometime. But the cancer thing is new to me. I wonder if theres a connection to covid19? China first stated the covid19 was CIA released. Ive known CIA members who got cancers that killed them in a year. Bizarre numbers of 20-50 year olds dying of cancer lately. Covid19 pandemic was obviously fake (and gay), but what was the reason for it? Why did they make us go through all that nonsense?

Also didn't notice until halfway through.
I'm not a super regular here until recently. Always lurk and never post, until I get acquainted with the culture more. But now i'm trying to find more reason to post.
I'm also a 4chan refugee. Was regular there from 2009-2017. I do miss the old days before the every thread being porn or racism. which I don't care about those things as long as is not spammed across everywhere. I stopped going mostly because it seemed like threads were stagnant, like entire threads were reposted with the same responses and photos. I saw another lainon mention that on another thread. I kinda miss the trolling and edginess of old 4chan when it was more balanced and i'm a fan of le frog. But i like the culture here and will make an effort to post here to keep it alive. or alive enough

4chan is mentioned in the epstein files.
https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA00133349.pdf
One Anon worked in the prison and told us what happened the night Epstein died. The feds investigated.
It's also confirmed that Moot is, in fact, a f@ggot and have been in contact with Epstein.

I like the racism, but I agree there is too much porn. For like a year I used /b/ for ~10hrs a day, and no other board. I've probably closed 100,000 porn threads, maybe more.
