Internet Culture

Let's make a thread about little pieces of internet culture that you find interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIVgSuuUTwQ I begin with a music video of the song Inner Universe from Ghost In The Shell S.A.C. on YouTube. Some time ago, one dude started to religiously comment everyday with the words "I will comment here every day to prove that this song will NEVER die!" Since then, more people started doing the same. Looks almost like a cult to an cyber deity.

Anytime a big group of people like that who don't know each other but unite under one common cause and then use their collective knowledge to solve it, that's so satisfying to see. I loved the era where you would get a new video game that nobody knew anything about and then consult forums to see if anyone else happened to figure out the answer. It's like putting together the pieces of a big puzzle but everyone has one piece each. It has a strange sense of comraderie to it and it's cool to see people using the internet collaboratively for just the love of the hobby.

Back around the early 00s, there was this tiny scene for making what were called IAQs, basically video game FAQs/guides except for games that didn't actually exist. Usually they were parodies of existing games. JRPGs, fighting games, mascot racing games, stuff like that. One guy (a member of the group Disaster Labs that's best known for Arfenhouse) even made a whole series of IAQs based on the Megaman X games, called Dead Horse V. I enjoyed reading them, even though I was too poor to afford most of the games they were making fun of, and even though many of them were full of in-jokes from the creators' social groups. In fact, Disaster Labs itself introduced me to a lot of other gaming-related communities. Like the emulation/romhacking scene that inspired me to make a bunch of awful /b/-humor-laden Final Fantasy and Earthbound hacks. Or the community for a DOS-based RPG engine called OHRRPGCE, which is still being worked on to this day (albeit for modern operating systems). It's also full of furries for some reason, but then again, so were many non-mainstream gaming groups back in the 00s.

>>18904 It's dead now. But it was an autist (Tsuki) trying to build a cult around himself deceiving people by misusing Lain. Lain is g0d. Tsuki is a fraud. The site had a nice aesthetic tho.
