Yes, i know this is probably dangerous.

Last week i have seen a post somewhere around here that piqued my interest, it theorizes how a super-wageslave can be created.
The goal is to make someone impervious to boredom and fatigue, obtain good concentration and need very minimal sleep (5-6 hours is the sweet spot), WITHOUT impairing cognitive capability too much.
Two days in this, i have been taking bad doses of caffeine and multivitamins, reduced my sleep to 5 hours switched to 6500k blue lights and made sure to regulate my dopamine, that means no music, food or any form of stress relief until the work is done so that my brain wires itself to get soykaf done as fast as possible.
So far I've had no urge to sleep, my eyes hurt from time to time, but i don't feel alert or focused more than usual.
What's the next step? what can i do that doesn't involve regulated drugs?

Your line of thought as well as similar ones from other people always catches my interest that as if through rational thought and self-imposed optimizations alone make a man a "better" being.
I am not going to dissuade you even if this routine appears to be self-destructive. But be sure to update us with this, I want to know what happens next.

Well, to be honest, i'm just doing it for the hell of it, see if the pain is worth the productivity boost.

Do you feel that this endeavor has led to a more fulfilling existence so far?

I already clarified i'm two days in, this period is too short to judge but so far nothing has really changed except i'm more wakeful and fatigue is taking a little toll.

Maybe you should look as to why you're pushing for such levels of productivity in the first place.
Neo · 2020-06-18 07:21
Long time productivity is a meme. The majority of study implies that more than 4 hours of deep concentration is not possible. Perhaps if you are the absolute master-giga-brain you could squeeze 5-6 hours out of you. Rest is a natural regeneration process that is require in order to produce well.
There is no use in beeing "productiv" 12 hours a day but your result is soykaf.
You should organize your work better in order to:
This requires concentration
This requires no concentration
Less is more sometimes.

most cognitive tasks (even code monkeying or studying) probably don't require a buddha level of mental harmony, it's just stress or quick deadlines that get to your head.
It's that feeling of alarm that won't stop ringing inside the head about how your work or test is due tomorrow, that's the stuff that throws you off track, anything else can be overcome easily

As someone who used to regularly take stims and stay up for 36 hours at a time, sleep for 4-6, then stay up another 36... cutting sleep out to be more productive isn't actually that effective. Yeah some people sleep 10 hours a day which is frankly a waste of time, but as long as you're in the 6-8 hour range you're better off working on ways to make the time you are awake more productive rather than trying to buy yourself more time.
Spooky · 2020-06-19 21:24

To elaborate: the problem I always ran into with staying awake for long periods of time, even without drugs, is it fuarrrked up my appetite and kept me from eating regular meals. Not eating enough did way more damage to my concentration than staying awake on its own.
I guess my advice if you think you have to do this is that the key to any kind of extreme sleep schedule is regularity. You can get away with less sleep if you're always going to bed and waking up at the same time and you're eating good meals at regular intervals.

Cognitive behavioral therapy incorporated into habit creation
Your thoughts create your emotions which in turn create your words/actions which in turn create a feedback loop into how environment reacts and how your thoughts are shaped.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is form of therapy where people with some mental ills want to correct them without medications or more intrusive forms of therapy, but this sort of trickery can mold you in any way shape or form.
You did well with dopamine fasting, and although whole reason of dopamine fasting is to increase willpower and make you like an unstoppable iceberg, you still are floating around in vast sea of possibilities.
To give you a direction and meaning of your life take a deep reflection on your past, your childhood and your actions and question them. Question them emotionally, logically and morally. Put yourself in others shoes. Emotionally try to look into logical explanations of your past actions and logically of your emotions.
After you de-constructed the notion of "self" during this process of questioning your own being you will find one true thing you want to do and be. You will have to regulate it with said Cognitive behavioral therapy. Think thoughts that will make your emotions into a form of a person you want to be. Have emotions that will in certain situations give such reaction to your environment so that it will put you in a place you want to be.
I can't really talk more in detail because it is a vast idea I have about psychology and sociology that can only be shown in personal allegories and analogies that I am not only weary of sharing on here but also because it might not come through in a form in which I want to. So I will leave it at that.
Your mind is a moldable supercomputer, shame it was shaped into way it was due to happenstance of environment and genetics. You can make it better, make yourself into a better person both for yourself and society.
Right on OP, not a lot of people have perseverance as you do to go beyond your destiny and build your own.

You're so engulfed in your own existence that you don't see that you're talking about a different thing than OP said.

Hello, you wanted an update, here it is.
Fifth day in.
More eye pain and strain, a little headaches.
I've started taking ricin filled energy drinks, twice a day, don't feel anything in particular.
still not seeing any gain in concentration, clarity or energy, just less tiredness and need to sleep.
next morning i'm gonna throw painkillers in the mix, see if they help.
Joe Bloggs · 2020-06-21 05:57
you're literally just making your life bad for no purpose.

Perhaps you need more time to evaluate this, maybe benefits are to be expected only in the long run.
Random · 2020-06-21 11:15
This is the stupidest fuarrrking idea I've read in a long while. Godspeed and don't try this at home, kids.
Cat Mother · 2020-06-21 12:22
fuarrrking yourself up while not addressing normal human needs will just make you a worse wageslave. You'll do even better if you allow yourself occasional entertainment, good sleep, exercise.
Humans are emotional creatures with needs beyond work.
You need basic functions like sleep to maintain effectiveness.
The only exception may be if you were literally just doing physical braindead activity but that's almost certainly not going to be the case.
Just avoid having relationships.
If you could take drugs:
The best mixture for this that I have found is tramadol and modafinil together. The tramadol dulls suffering and allows you to be happier doing nothing but work - at an appropriate dosage it acts as an opioid but doesn't damage mental function too seriously.
Modafinil helps with concentration and to prevent you from just chilling in tramadol happiness, it has no real downsides.

you assume that productivity = work. truly productivity is balance between action and inaction.
