I regularly eat hot peppers and hot sauce and hot stuff in general. Nothing crazy hot, but I usually eat at least a handful or so of pickled jalapenos every day, along with putting tobasco sauce on food I eat throughout the day. I even put hot sauce on takis or flaming hot cheetos sometimes and eat that. I'm pretty immune to it.
About a week ago though I purchased a bottle of el yucateca green habanero sauce, which was really quite spicy by my standards. It was delicious though, had some lime flavor in it along with the habanero. I opened it up about 5 days ago and then used most of the bottle over the next two days. On the second day I made a big pot of really hot chili con carne, and stupid used a large amount of the el yucateca on the bowl I had for lunch that day. Ever since then I've felt like I have a lead ball sitting in my stomach. It feels generally sore all the time, and a few times has even made me feel nauseous the pain got so bad. I regularly take opiates every day, and the only time the pain subsides is about an hour after each dose. I've abstained from anything spicy since the last bowl of chili, but the pain is still there. I'm concerned I've fuarrrked my stomach up somehow. I just want some reassurance that this will pass with time, and I can go back to my regular diet of delicious spicy foods.
Has anyone ever had this happen to them? It's been like 4 days now with no sign of getting better. Do you think it was the hot sauce, or have I done something else bad to my stomach?
