As one of the last remaining contributors to this wiki, I am humbly requesting that people here keep it up to date and potentially revive it. The Lainchan article is heavily out of date and I lack a lot of knowledge to update it. Please help fix this. The Admin seems to have gone dark himself. It's all we, as a cross-chan community, seem to have left. The spam seems to have stopped too.

Well, what more is there to add? It's not like there has been any major event lately

The last major update to the page was March 2018, and before that it was November 2017. It also is a stub.

Not much has changed, in terms of drama I don't think anything has happened actually.

There's plenty more to edit besides the lainchan article

I'm truly not concerned about the outdated or just incorrect information I see about Lainchan elsewhere, for a simple reason.
When I see people unduly criticize Lainchan elsewhere for one reason or another, they're usually someone I wouldn't want to correct and drive to Lainchan in the first place.
This generalizes to many things. If a den of fools is looking for its new headquarters and dismisses a place you like on false premises, why would you correct them?

You have a plan? something that you would like updated ASAP?
Not a fan of the installgentoo branding but hey, maybe with more focus on a specific topic an experienced user might chip in and we can update the wiki

It seems that this site has forgotten that this site began all the way back in '12 as The /g/ Wiki. After the popularity of 8chan's /tech/, it became "The Install Gentoo Wiki". Install Gentoo also formerly ran several services for this cross-chan community. I am the only active editor at this time, with a few lurkers editing specialty articles. Fundamentally, this is one of our wikis and it is out of date.
I didn't just link it because it has an article on lainchan. I linked it so we may take an effort to give valid, updated information to it. For example, the Firefox Addons page has been out of date since 2015 due to Firefox fuarrrking over users and changing the API to something they claim is "Faster" and "More Secure", nonsense buzzwords. Nonetheless, every addon there either no longer exists or is in a sorry state of non-development.
Please help me update this wiki. I only know so much

I don't really see it that way and I'm not alone. I have no connection to this wiki and Lainchan doesn't really spout the Install Gentoo meme. I noticed you've submitted this same post to several other technology boards on other imageboards, so this is spam in a way. I won't care about this wiki when it's gone.

Random anon here - speak for yourself. The wiki has provided me lots of useful information and I am very grateful for it.

I agree with what >>15559 said. I've also stumbled across https://wiki.installgentoo.com/wiki/Programming_Books#God-tier_books which is a list I disagree with. I wonder if the person who made that list actually read those books or did they decided to put together a list of books that /g/ spergs about. What also puts me off is account creation and endorsement of non free software such as windows. The wiki has too much 4chan and 8chan influence for my liking.

That's most of imgboard advice in a nutshell, at least they provide their resources
Sorry OP but in a way I really agree with dropping the wiki and starting a curated list from scratch with more accurate curation

I have to say I really like this wiki. There's no better place for electronics purchase suggestions you guys really collate all the research I'd have had to do myself before purchasing.
What the fuarrrk happened to the chink soykaf general though? Now it's called Chinese soykaf general (you guys gone soft or what?) and it's not the same article anymore. There used to be like more general info on purchasing from Gearbest and Aliexpress and soykaf.

The Install Gentoo Wiki? Now that's not a Wiki I have heard of in quite some time.
Neuromancer · 2020-03-30 11:16
This thread gave me an idea that perhaps we should have a Lainwiki but for technology, not just about SEL like https://lain.wiki/wiki/Main_Page. Currently I lack the resources to make it but I wouldn't mind contributing if someone decides to launch it.

Thanks for keeping the wiki alive and contributing to it, Mr neck beard. Maybe we can get a new generation here to keep adding to it.

Thank you for your efforts. Community run projects are essential so we dont all end up using corperate soykaf. I will see what I can contribute.

Haven't installgentoo wiki users migrated to https://wiki.cloveros.ga ?

If you have books you think would be better, you can try and contribute to the list instead of complaining about it
