Anyone of you aware there is some dirt on you that could be used against you in the future?
When I was younger and way more stupid, I managed to get recorded while fapping.
I feel like I'll never be able to become even somehwat rich or famous, as that soykaf WILL inevitably leak right at the wrong time.
Am I just paranoid? Are my fears founded?

Hard drives die over time.
USB keys get lost.
Etc
I used to think the same as you about pics of me at parties doing drugs or just super drunk.
Until I realised most of those pics never get uploaded anywhere (at least at the time, nobody had iCloud/Cloud backups) and people just put their old phones in the trash or just break them.
If it happened more than 5years ago, I bet it's most likely gone.
(To be clear, i'm not speaking about intelligence agencies as it isn't the thread here. Most people don't save data for +10years. If you get famous one day, your enemies will have trashed/lost the data long ago)

People are paranoid all the time that their nudes will leak, but when it does, people just don't care. It really matters on how you react to it. Everybody masturbates, nobody will care if it got recorded and leaked, and if you play it off that way, nobody will treat you differently. Hell they may sympathize with you as a victim. Kanye did it perfectly before. He had his dick leaked into the public in 2010 after sending it to a girl on a dating website, and nobody cared because he owned up to it.
As long as you don't commit something morally reprehensible, you good.
But that being said, I worry every day people will find posts I wrote in a political forum when I was a teenager and in my wisdom, attached to my real life identity. I'll be fuarrrked.

>As long as you don't commit something morally reprehensible, you good.
Honestly, my thoughts as well.
If you think about the leaked material, usually of sexual nature, that actually got politicians, rich people, CEOs, etc. into trouble, it pretty much almost always involved something at the very least morally questionable, such as infidelity, and in some cases illegal too.
If it's merely something like a video of you jacking off, or you being heavily drunk at a party, you're probably fine even in the remote possibility it ever resurfaces. It's something that virtually everyone does from time to time, and, while embarrassing, hardly anyone would consider masturbation "wrong", especially in this day and age.
Just to take an admittedly kinda stupid example: if a video of Elon Musk ferociously assaulting his manhood with both hands appeared, people would probably just have a laugh and move on. I doubt he'd even resign or do some soykaf like that. Hell, the guy was even filmed smoking a joint FFS.
People in general do tend to get overly paranoid, which is understandable. They are more often than not greatly overestimating the potential risks, though. People have gotten away with much worse being revealed about them.

Is that even relevant anymore? We live in a time where CS students can shop anyone's face to anything on video, make you say things on tape that you would never say and astroturf the most ridiculous lie about you on social media with little time and effort where even experts can not tell fact from fiction. Right now, people will take anything at face value but eventually even the most gullible masses will get the notice that they are part of the global information warfare and you can't trust anyone.

We're entering a time when basically everyone has nudes in the network somewhere. It's gonna get kind of different in the near future; we're probably gonna see a lot of people become totally humiliated/politically untouchable in an old-fashioned sense because nudes leaked or w/e before eventually moving to a point where we accept this and don't do this weird thing where we destroy people's reputation for having any slight form of sexuality whatsoever viewable by the public. We're going to have to face the fact that all people do this stuff, we can't just soykaf all over people when the secret gets out or else we're all gonna be soykaf all over because we're all being recorded more and more and more and the information is getting much better at spreading and persisting forever in the net.
I really think we're gonna see a president's dick before too long, it's bound to happen lmao. Not talking about this current one specifically. But we're moving into a future where privacy is impossible (I hate it too, but nobody seems to know how to stop it) and so we're going to become uncomfortably aware of how weird and naked the average public or private person is. So we're going to be forced to become comfortable with it if we ever want to be comfortable again.

$10 says it's "egg-shaped" like Epstein's. Whatever that means? I am so confused by that description
Ivan Horvat · 2019-11-24 21:46
Everyone has dirt that can be used to keep them in line. The Soviets had a Kompromat system where anyone important was certain to have some sort of damning dirt on them. The west had this too, with things like Epstein's island being used to bait rich and powerful people into a compromised positions on camera. These were expensive and carefully organized projects based around certain people, but that is no longer necessary with young people. I can't imagine how many dumb teenagers have posted nudes, edgy offensive memes, etc. without thinking ahead. But social media culture allows you to destroy anyone just for being problematic in the past, so baiting people into fuarrrking a kid on camera is no longer necessary. In 20 years, some tech people who used to post on /g/ will be reminded about the times they quoted Terry Davis, some climate activists will be reminded about how they used to sell nude photos on Snpachat to get through college, and so on. Most people will just be told stay shut up, and some might be asked for a few favors. Those who submit nicely might go up in the world and learn about the secrets of others; the elite basically have a nuclear deterrence policy where they'll never take each other out because they can just drop a bombshell on whoever tries to backstab them.
Corporations like Mindgeek exist specifically to harvest compromising material like this. They own countless pornographic services for little to no cost for the users, yet have extensive analytics on their pages. I wonder why?
But this shouldn't be a concern for the average person. Even if you make a few million dollars, you don't have any real threat behind you.

You could also argue, however, that if you DO have a real threat behind you, you are probably in a position where public opinion can't harm you.
In that case, they'll just try to kill you, kidnap you or something like that, which I'm sure nobody would prefer to just having some nudes of them leaked.
Chan Siu Ming · 2019-11-24 23:11
I used to have that sort of paranoia and it kept me from doing things, but I realized that with good enough narrative-weaving and legal advice, anything can be swept right back under the rug. By the time these things can become a problem, handling them becomes a non-problem.
Random · 2019-11-24 23:11
There's probably a few specks of dirt on me somewhere out there, but luckily it's not in the form of nudes or anything else sexual. If anything, it's in the form of chatlogs and stuff I've posted, all from my teenage years and early 20s.
From an objective standpoint, though, it's not seriously damning. Just innocuous posts in support of the "wrong side" of (insert dumbass controversy here), or maybe I said something mildly offensive 5+ years ago that's verboten now. But the thing is, there are some sociopaths out there online who like to tear people down for the pure fun of it. They don't contribute anything, but somehow they have a ton of social influence that they love to swing around. And it's making me afraid to publish my creative works. My fear is that if I start making a name for myself, one of those people will notice me and just start digging. They might even go as far as using the Wayback Machine to look for anything I've deleted. Once they find their "evidence", that's it. They just have to put a spin on it, make me out to be a complete monster, and my career's as good as dead while they get their feel-goods from having just ruined someone's life.

I remember when a member of indie darling DIIV used to soykafpost on 4chan using his name as a tripcode, he called popular women "bitches", dropped the gamer word, and was your average 20-something 4chan edgelord. When I was younger I like writing and was into DA. So I showed someone my writing through a shared google doc and I accedntly showed them my full first and last name name because it was attached to the email attached to the document. I don't think that many people gave a fuarrrk, but my full name is attached to a deviantart post were I was an edgy soykaf head. The other stuff i mentioned on the forum would also link it to being me (I mentioned my race, medical conditions, age, state god was I stupid) and not an accidental name match up. I also said a lot of unforgivable soykaf because I was an edgy tard (hitler was good!) and if any one I know saw that. ugh
Also less career ruining, but more cringy is the fact a bunch of pokemon theory blogs are under my name and I forget the password to delete them.

same poster, but on the other side of the coin I got so obsessed over some one, someone who wrote a book I liked when I was a kid, I spent a week finding all the info I could on them. I just did basic soykaf like google them and look through the results till I had nothing. I found a lot. It was mostly interviews and abandoned projects, but it was an interesting look.
>>14117
I want to do that, but my biggest problem is the fact I like a lot of niche stuff. If I make an account that likes something niche (lets say < 1,000 views), it gets into drama, and I make a new account that also likes the same niche thing people will raise eyebrows.
Splicer · 2019-11-25 18:51

Don't worry about the pokemon thing.
Most people who used the Internet when they were younger have some kind of "cringy" blog or website they lost access to.
I, myself, have the same type of content online somewhere. I first I was *ugh* almost stressed someone I know will find it.
Then I realized most people have very old content like this they made when they were 12 or younger
Now I find it almost cute :).
When I "doxx" someone (I don't actually doxx people. I'm just a really curious person and I like little Internet investigations. Last time I doxxed the owner of a website I use... just for fun, not for doing bad things or sharing the infos. I like to take a look at personal things but I'm not even trying to find dirt on them or even judge them. I just like to know and enjoy the fun of the search. I think I never doxxed someone for bad reasons, it was always some kind of strange innocent voyeurism)
I find content like this almost everytime.
And to be honest, even the most "cringy" content I ever saw was, at the end of the day, just cute
content created by a kid.
I found the same kind of blogs from my friends since I know their old username etc; A lot of content on them are really "cringy" but it's not even cringy when you know it's just content created by kids: So I never cared and I think most people don't.
And I'm glad you realized you were a "soykafhead" in the past, that means you are a better person now.
If you want it gone you can contact the admin of the websites and jusk ask them to delete it, explaining the situation and trying to find a way to verify you are the owner of the account.
I did that for some content under my name (not racist stuff tho) and 100% of the websites I asked
just deleted it in less than 48h just saying it was my name and wanted the content gone. They never asked proof of anything, just deleted the content. (Kind of a problem but heh, that's not the topic here)
It wasn't big websites like twitter/facebook/etc so I hope it's not the case for the content you're trying to delete too.
And most people will tell you that "content on the Internet never get deleted"... well... they are (almost) wrong.
The content I asked to be deleted never got archived by any public archive. Not on the Internet Archives, not available anywhere now. Maybe some intel agency have it but it's nothing illegal so I don't care.
Maybe some neckbeard was archiving the websites at the time and have a private archive but the infos will not be relevant when it will be uploaded after his mom kicks him out of the house.
And even if it was on the Internet Archive, most people don't end up looking for your content on it.
Just try to make the least enemies possible if you know they can find racist content under your name on it lol

I posted all of my fringe stuff on a side blog on tumblr. Being a naive perv in my early 20s I didn't think very much about the possible consequences of posting problematic art on the internet. I don't get why furries and lolicons hate eachother so much. They're basically the same thing, just with kids swapped with animals. You guys should be working together to fight against norms, not throwing eachother under the bus.

I don't hate anyone.
I'm not the creator of that pic but IIRC it is a potshot aimed at woke furry teens on Twitter and their hypocritical sentiments. They forgot that 10 years ago they were the ones taking the heat from everyone on the net.

I don't know how true this is, but I've at least heard that since Disney owns all art that their employees make while working there, they actually have an internal collection of official Disney porn. Apparently introducing this collection to newly-hired artists is part of the onboarding process.

I was 100% sure I wrote the first post until I read the second one. I feel exactly the same except I haven't posted nudes or anything, and nobody ever gave a soykaf about me or my art.
I think it has more to do with how alienated I feel towards people who consume art today, I can't relate to them. I pretty much stopped drawing because I feel I have nothing to say that will be worth to this audience. I don't like anime or cartoons or all the sexual stuff, and the things I like are super rare or dying. Drawing for fun is nice but it's like strumming your guitar alone in a room forever.

People have LOTS of dirt on me but I don't really care. The depraved soykaf I've done is easy to find online. In fact, Google "Felix elincicio mlpforum" and you'll find an entry level into the soykaf I've done as a child
However, it doesn't really matter and nobody cares
Also, you people worried about government surveillance are worried about the wrong thing. The real problem is surveillance by data mining agencies to sell for a profit

It's the same sh1t and same threat for 99% of people.

Have you seen how good deepfakes have gotten? It's logical to assume they will just become more and more realistic over time.
Should that video ever resurface (EXTREMELY unlikely, but possible) you have plausible deniability on your side. Just deny it was you in the first place. You are probably not even going to look the same as you did in the video after years (age, different haircut, different facial hair, etc.).
Hardly anyone will be able to challenge a deepfake claim.

This
I have done some really depraved soykaf as a kid and a lot of people know but most won't do anything. Some have tried to confront me about it but it turned out they back down when you threaten them a little.
This is the same sort of soykaf that people don't get about real crime. 60 to 70% of times most criminals just get away with it while the average person has illusion of safety throigh their crime fighting TV shows where cops are somehow really mad geniuses.
