Try to elaborate on why you are running this experiment and what moments in time you are looking to capture. ?)

First post here in a long while.

Ok. This probably isn't a good recipe for quality content, but I guess we'll see.

Nameless · 2019-11-03 04:37
I check my threads several times a day, but mostly lurk. I might be posting in this thread frequently..
Special Agent Bob · 2019-11-03 04:45
guess I'm bookmarking this

I refuse

Ok, but keep in mind that i usually don't have anything interesting to say.

fuarrrk this site
fsociety · 2019-11-03 10:43
>>13302 Unless we make it so. Awkward silence pushes us to think about something interesting to say. >>13284 I'm usually a lurker too. My first visit to lainchan for the day, a quick check on the latest posts, then go to the radio page to listen to some swing / cafe while writing some conf and docker-compose files for my random devops contract side-job. Pic is some random drawing of mine. I hate it, because I messed up her left-hand. But it's been two years and I don't ever feel like fixing it. It's archived. It's Done. Even though it is not nearly finished. Like dozens of others.
Motoko Kusanagi · 2019-11-03 10:55
I guess not having a topic also makes it easier for lurkers like us to join-in without worrying about derailing the conversation with our unworthy thoughts. Although, yes, this will probably not lead to quality content, it does feel kinda comfy. >>13303 Or maybe not very comfy after all.
Splicer · 2019-11-03 11:11
waiting on a bus station for another hour so i may as well check what's up here on lainchan

>>13284 >Every time you visit https://lainchan.org, leave a post in this thread. Why?
Erik Johansson · 2019-11-03 12:09
> Every time you visit https://lainchan.org, leave a post in this thread. why create the illusion of actual traffic on an imageboard by spamming a contentless thread like this
Y.T · 2019-11-03 12:12
>>13308 because we can
Marly Krushkhova · 2019-11-03 12:14
Does this apply only to the frontpage or any boards/subpages? And should we bump this thread every time we reload said page?
Lord Nikon · 2019-11-03 12:17
maybe post some cool looking images so this thread isn't a complete waste?

what if I have an auto-refreshing lainchan tab pinned all the time? Do I post every time I switch to it? that feels too spammy. also, is this thread considered rule-abiding?
Jens Hansen · 2019-11-03 14:08
>>13314 >>13310 Only when you open up your internet browser. But feel free to post more. And you're welcome to add quality content to other threads. >>13307 >>13308 Why not? >>13306 Hello friend. I haven't used a bus too recently. I wonder if public transit can be enjoyable in other countries. Most of the time I just make story panels of the characters I see, but sometimes get uncomfortable thinking I'll never see them again. >>13304 Awesome drawing. I have this fantasy where I turn off the computer and throw away my cellphone. And if I ever need anything I would go to the library to look things up. That I would study things, start learning something. I don't know why I am here.

hi
John Doe · 2019-11-03 15:16
>>13304 >Awkward silence but this is the internet + lainchan. Unless you're on a discord/skype call, I don't think such a thing exists on the net. Especially not on lainchan, which - as most chan-users know - is a very slow imageboard.
Jet Black · 2019-11-03 15:35
>>13305 >>13319 It's funny ,but lately, I feel, that lainchan is one of the most consistently paced imgboard around, at least you are almost guaranteed to fine some response to your thoughts. Any way, I'm just feeling cool right now, after a leisure hike in a mountain.
Bobby Newmark · 2019-11-03 16:30
>>13317 I have the opposite. I have this fantasy where I turn on my computer, and all information I ever encountered, all thoughts I ever had, every idea, every person I met, every thing I want to do, all, are recorded. Recorded and archived, and sorted, and tagged, and indexed, all with relations and context and priorities and weights and then, on the other side of all the ordered chaos I would have a simple list. what to do today. orderly scheduled into time chunks that fill my day. things that I wanted to do, things that I wanted to review, things that I wanted to learn. Things that I ever ran away from. And then. I would do it. I don't know why I am here.

>>13323 I will keep you posted as I figure out the same thing. A common error I've committed every time I've wished for a turn-around would be to fully commit to everything I've ever wanted to do. Truth be told, a schedule of wants felt boxes. There's a progression. Do one thing today you wish you did 5 years ago. And keep on adding until there's chaos. Then you sort.
Boris Grishenko · 2019-11-03 19:31
>>13323 Would you care what order the tasks filled the list? Or would you just be happy to do whatever it told you was next?
Batou · 2019-11-03 19:37

>>13335 It makes me feel guilty to open up this place. I feel so self conscious. >>13334 This is the scary thing about schedules... sometimes you forget to look at your compass.
Elliot Alderson · 2019-11-03 20:12
>>13334 Of course I care. My countless past selves would supply it with a huge pool of wants and wishes. I surely will not be able to fulfill all of them before I expire, so the order matters. The order should be determined by a set of weights, like perceived priority at the time, and how much time the item spent in a pending state without being executed. Creating bookkeeping tasks is the responsibility of the system. It should for example give me a auto-generated task to review 5 older tasks and re-evaluate their priority. Take a look at these 3 inspiring items and see if they give you any new ideas. Please review the tags of this photo or document and possibly enrich them. Of course I'm just brain-storming, I don't know the all details of the system I want. >>13333 Well, maybe the system will give you a list and help you optionally schedule it if you want. Otherwise, you can just use it as a todo-list of sorts. Basically, I just want an extension of my brain that works roughly the same way, but has way more processing time, and automation potential. >>13337 then maybe schedule an introspection & compass lookin' session :)
Yuki Nagato · 2019-11-03 20:20
>>13315 >Awesome drawing. I wonder how long it'd take to get to your level. I like the flower. Thanks :) I don't know how long it would take, too many variable factors. For me, I kinda started getting seriously interested in drawing around 7 years ago. I only draw rarely though, I'm mostly a programmer. sadly. but I am really interested in the theory part of drawing and digital painting, and I read and watch a lot about it. Basically, it will take you less than me if you work harder, and more if you work on it less.

hey bros and foes with the stinky toes. im here to pose some prose. as this thread comes to a close i think of how close you came to earning an ascii rose. not gonna do it. not today. not gonna put that subtle sugar near my nose. i find myself coming here a few times a week since i found it a month ago. i see everyone saying the board is slow. I don't see that as a problem. When boards are too fast like 4chan it all seems rushed, and the time a post stays alive is embarrassingly short.
Dozer · 2019-11-03 23:12
I'm back again, although I should be studying. I like the subculture on this board. It's less toxic than others. You guys are good.

>>13339 It's something to consider. Thanks for sharing your drawings :) >>13346 My experiments tests my understanding on the Internet. I find myself growing distant. The first experiment was to cut it all down. I wasn't prepared for that (I think I am now, almost). So I slouched back in. The second experiment was to put more thought into what I say to others. I instead found these will never match reality. The third experiment was to gather others with a unified goal. But that failed since we all continue as is. I thought maybe it was the medium again. So the four experiment was a medium shift. But that failed because you can't - at least it seems to me - you can't bring people on a journey with you. This fifth one is just me trying to understand why I come here. More often than not, I feel sick inside. More often than not, I see no reason to post. I want to challenge others with why they lurk. Because I don't know why I do. Well I know I want to turn my brain off, but that isn't a good enough justification. I think I need to accept how alone I will be in the future.
