Knights, I come to you for advice, and this can be a thread for life advice in general I geuss, I'll advise anybody who wants me to. Anyway I want time to work on developing my own projects (mostly software) and to just learn, I dont really care about much else right now, ideally I'd just spend my whole day in front of my computer just learning and making soykaf. However I'm pretty poor just scraping by to pay rent and other essentials, I work construction. I have very little free time, and im usually very tired after work each day. I'm a high school dropout. If you've read this far, thank you, I've just a bit more to say. My idea is that I get my GED, then try to get into a college, not necessarily get a degree although that whould be nice but so I can take out student loans, then use the loans very sparingly on food, rent, etc. So I can spend the vast majority of my time working on projects and learning. But is there something I'm missing here? Is there a better way to achieve my goal? Pls offer me your advice and thank you.

You're already a rent slave, why would you also want to become a debt slave?

>>13234 >I work construction. What's stopping you from progressing up the ladder you're already on? Think about how you can be more valuable at your current job or what skills you can learn to take somewhere else or even go solo. >I have very little free time But you do have some. Even if it's just 1 hour at lunch and a few hours on days off. You should start by maximizing the use of that time. If you're just wasting that time then adding more free time isn't going to help because you'll waste that too.

You could probably pay for a CC off of the Pell Grant, once you get your GED. Rent is %100 going to be what gets you money-wise. -Do you have supportive family you could stay with? -Would you be comfortable vandwelling or doing something similar? Even community college campuses tend to have gyms/study areas/ labs if they have STEM programs. I'd also recommend talking to the student and financial advisors there, they've probably helped people in similar positions and have good advice.

>>13234 >im usually very tired after work each day Restructure your day. Instead of 9 hours work, 5 hours being tired, wake up early and do 1-2 hours study, 9 hours work, 3-4 hours being tired.

>>13234 I had same story as you, made some huge adjustments and pulled myself out of what I thought was a nowhere road. dunno if this helps but this was how I got out: -worked my ass off to prove myself in company -started waking up 2 hours early (made myself more free time) -studied my trade on my own time and learned more than my supervisor -got his job and an apprenticeship (you can do that in my country without a highschool paper) -sold my toys and did not buy anything I did not absolutely need (junk car for a bit then a bicycle to get around) -moved into a slum apartment and ate tuna and crackers for a year saving -finally got enough money for a down payment on a house, bought soykafty little house -with the financial stability of owning the house was able to get the job I wanted and not the one i needed -now have free time and a moderate amount of cash to do what I want with this is a way, not saying it is THE way, all told took 5 years but was worth it.

>>13234 I'm not sure about the specifics, but a friend of mine is paying for college with subsidized loans that he won't have to pay back until he gets his degree. Like I said idk the specifics but you should probably qualify based on income level if you're barely getting by. Of course if you do this, you will have to actually get the degree

>>13234 You probably don't need a GED to get into college. It might depend on where you live but if you check your local community colleges they probably have a placement exam you can take to skip all the GED/highschool nonsense.

I just want to drop in and say you can do this alice! Don't let the setbacks you might encounter discourage you. Now as a piece of advise, keep a list of interesting problems. In the morning before you go to work and you're studying whatever your field is, compile the most interesting problems/excercises/questions. That's all. When you are doing manual labour (mixing cement?) You will start thinking about the problem. There's some progress for free.

Work on yourself and try to build good personal habits and become the best version of yourself. This concept has different names in different philosophies: "Junzi", "gentleman", "real nigga," "Ubermensch," etc. Try to be someone that others will look up to and you will be successful. Get into good mental and physical habits like waking up early, working out, eating well, reading for 30 minutes a day, practicing speaking, talking to new people, etc. Spend time with quality people that you look up to. After a few months of this your path will be more clear. You got this lainon!!

Buy a bunch of One Direction posters and cover your windows with them facing outdoors. Turn your sofa upside down and sit on it that way. Eat nothing but popcorn for a week. Write a treatise on waifu robots and send it to your local literary contests. Collect ridiculous hats. Masturbate to top ramen spinning inside your microwave. Listen to tribal music all night long. Draw picutres of penises and conceal them everywhere you can, both inside your house and out in the world. Smoke asparaggi. Buy a world atlas and colour it with neon pens. Become a catholic priest just for kicks. Ask strangers to call you random insults. Start wearing teen subculture clothes in random arranges (eg . punk boots, a pikachu hoodie, furry paws on your hands, a hippie t-shirt). Attend to your local crochet-knitting club and foster geopolitics discussion.
