Hey lainons, do you go outside, just for sake of being somewhere? I'm talking about like urban exploration, climbing, bushcraft, camping.
Meddler · 2019-06-27 15:46
I live near a beautiful forest, often when I have free time I will go there and walk around for a bit.
Drano · 2019-06-27 16:03
Going for a nightly bike ride has become routine. If I don't do it, it feels like part of my day was missing. It's very boring after doing it for a year straight every single day, same route, but I guess I get to be outside and have some alone time.
Tequila · 2019-06-27 18:14
>>11945 Dang, kinda jealous since nearby forest is small and quite far away, also a road in middle of it. I go there quite a lot. >>11946 Bike rides are awesome, I gotta get my bike and not just use my mother's bike haha

I usually ride my motorbike all over the city and the country so I can find somewhere to creep around and lurk irl. Maybe do some mushrooms or drink by myself. I'm a sadsack with no real friends, but as long as I have this I don't go crazy. I actually stay pretty stable otherwise. Been doing it for about fifteen years. One thing I've noticed is the radical reduction in spaces which are accessible by random people / not surveilled. If I had to make up a (likely very inaccurate and biased) statistic off the top of my head I'd say it's gone down by 95%. I used to do it by car, but the motorbike makes it easier to get through gates and obstacles / ghost out on megalomaniacal assholes who want to lock you up for exploring the universe. People are kinda stuck indoors with their AC and electronics and the world outside is simply constricting around us like a snake. It is like kicking dead whales down the beach. I wonder if people are starting to get more afraid of the outer world because they don't go there anymore, so now it's only subject to their imagination. Yes, I am a rather paranoid person, why do you ask?
Ivan Petrov · 2019-06-28 07:58
I go outside for the sake of it a lot, anywhere where there are not too many people is fine.
Elliot Alderson · 2019-06-28 09:06
I moved to another city kinda recently, so I'm travelling around for no particular reason. I often ride a scooter, or a rented bike. I sometimes take photos. I used to do it more often and carry a camera on me at all times. I'm hoping to go back to this when I get my life sorted out.
Joe Bloggs · 2019-06-28 14:43
>>11956 That's a cool way to get to know stuff around you, I should take my camera with myself more too. >>11953 Same, I love being alone, especially with nature all around you.

I've gone on failed hunting trips to get wild meat (I would have it inspected first) and deerskin. I have been determined to do a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. challenge (minus getting drunk) and have a brief innawoods experience to examine some of my survival skills and because I intend to live alone near some wood in either central New Hampshire and western Maine someday. Also, I do mild sunbathing for extra vitamin D, I do some swimming at the public pool, I occasionally practice basketball, and go out for jogs from time to time.

>>11951 >People are kinda stuck indoors with their AC and electronics and the world outside is simply constricting around us like a snake. I fuarrrking feel that, man. I want to get out of my house, but there's nowhere i can go without a valid reason.

>>11982 %s/S.T.A.L.K.E.R./hobo/g Abandoned buildings can be dangerous. You want to leave someone (or something, an alarm system) outside on the watch and study the building for some time before entering. >>12031 You can: - go to a restaurant to eat - visit popular locations to know what's up in your city - buy a camera and walk around taking curious photos - buy a fun mode of transportation and ride around having fun - do a small walk in the evening to relax after a stressful day You can use the internet on your phone while doing so, every day.

>>12031 I'm sending you a fist of solidarity through our little technological hell-net here. Since I was old enough to drive myself to school I've been practicing what I call "breaking glass walls." The idea is that during my commute to wherever I have to go--invariably another place to get stuck inside for long hours--I had lots of choices, lots of paths to take, streets to turn onto, but the framework of my obligation effectively meant I had a single tunnel open to me from point A to point B. A tunnel with glass walls that while allowing you to see apparent free choices alongside your path, you weren't really allowed to deviate from it. So you have to break those glass walls, drive down some random street on an impulsive whim, and then once you're out of the glass path you can take any arbitrary, branching route you want. Go get lost somewhere. Skip out on your obligations, spend some time outside yourself and wallow in the unstructured exploration of the world you've finally broken into. Of course you get into trouble a lot of the time, but who the hell cares at the end of the day? Turns out the person who cared most was me--everyone else showed some perfunctory disappointment, then moved on to neurotically obsessing about their little tunnel of glass forcing them to move forward towards a preordained fate of their own.
Elliot Alderson · 2019-07-04 21:24
>>12033 that's the thing, a lot of these cost money. Existing in public costs money now a days... how many places can you just, chill without getting hit with a loitering offense?
Unknown · 2019-07-04 21:26
>>12061 lain, this perfectly describes what I like about acid trips. Breaking out of the invisible walls temporarily and exploring. So wonderful :)
Ishikura "Tatsu" Tatsuhiko · 2019-07-05 02:48
My back yard is full of ants and mosquitoes. I'd take walks, but there's no path except for the road and people speed down it. Perhaps if I lived in a nicer location, I would. The longer I go without doing this, the more I feel I don't want to and the more nature repulses me.
Dozer · 2019-07-07 04:24
ah, definitely. late-night car rides with no destination are my favorite.
Random · 2019-07-07 20:07
>>12061 an interesting think for sure. I'll give it a shot when i have the opportunity and see where i get.

>>12119 ...and going outside is free. There are other advantages to this new and experimental treatment such as seeing anything besides your screen and the inside of your room. You may also encounter other users and have a "conversation".
Sipho Nkosi · 2019-07-25 04:32
Yes. I've got no real life friends so just to explore and maybe find something interesting
