What are the best books written for learning a language for native English speakers? Can be for any language, but post the best of the best in your opinion. Obviously you won't learn to speak it correctly, but reading and writing in it is surely transferable from books.

Two questions, OP. Firstly, why would you want to learn a language without learning to speak it or comprehend it aurally? Secondly, what language are you wanting to study?

Every chapter is a new vocab list and a new dialog. It turns out humans are pretty smart and grammar lessons aren't needed for basic comprehension. If you learn the vocabulary you can put together enough of the grammar to read accurately. >>11925 >Firstly, why would you want to learn a language without learning to speak it or comprehend it aurally? For many people, there are far more opportunities to read a given language than there are to speak a given language.
