Encouraged to share more from IRC users, I want to share a few things about my experience working at WalMart in the southern US. AMA!
>I was once offered a blow job from a drug addict in exchange for money or drugs. It was a woman with few teeth, very skinny, and likely was not as old as she looked.
>I watched an obese woman ride an electric shopping cart through a Taco Bell drive-thru. I lol'd.
>Lifted trucks are very popular in the southern US, and I was once asked by an obese woman to help her climb into her truck. She was too fat and the truck sat too high. I literally pushed her up into the driver's seat. I immediately went back into the store and washed my hands and arms a straight 15 minutes or so after.
>We had to call the cops on an alcoholic (who was drunk) for refusing to leave the store after he became belligerent with a cashier. He was angry because he couldn't buy alcohol after 11:00PM. The ordeal happened around 3 in the morning.
>Me and a coworker were tasked to ask an elderly couple having sex in their car to leave the property. (The man was doggy-style on the woman while wearing an oxygen mask, I kid you not). They each had to be in their late 60's/early 70's.
>Sunsets were beautiful to watch while pushing carts in the parking lot
>Seeing customers genuinely happy after being helped was priceless and enjoyed it when they talked to me about their lives or anything else
>Management was awful, and often never paid overtime past 40 hours. Many of the managers I worked for have since been fired for it
>A woman walked her dog into the store, the dog crapped on the floor, and a manager walked in it by mistake. I lol'd
>While using the ride-on-floor-scrubber, I poured a lot of water and soap on the floor in a corner of the store, spun a doughnut, and then dried the floor. I was called into the office by my manager, and we both laughed while watching the surveillance camera. He did not punish me.
More upon request.

Not walmart, but I worked as a night hustler bouncer on a fairly popular pool hall during my early teens. I worked there under the condition that my stance would be final, and my judgement outweighed everyone else in the place, including the owner. The reason for it was so no hustler could use personal connections to pass through me. The owner accepted because I had a really nasty prior reputation of being a nasty person to pick a fight with. So when they tried the typical "I know the owner and I'll get you fired" I would just toss them outside with a smile.
It took two people being tumbled down concrete and steel stairs to be relaxed enough to afford being able to pass the night reading Sailor Moon manga. Try to picture a bunch of rowdy hustlers being too scared of an effeminate guy reading shoujo manga, and being unable to do anything. I despised hustlers so I enjoyed it for the first couple of years, and it allowed me to pay higher education.
I later became an elementary teacher :V

Im a vendor for a bread company, and so I go in and out of places like Kroger or Wal-Mart on a daily basis. My job is simple enough on paper... go in, count the bread , straight up everything , add the newer... fresher... stock , and move onto the next store. Simple.
Course what they don't warn you about is the workers. Granted, it mostly depends on how getto the locations of the stores are... but the PURE HATE I've seen from people while working this job has me worried.
The worst I've seen so far, is this one black woman ( ima call her Kay, not real name ) , whom sole job is to clean the floors. Sweep, ride that odd cleaning car thing, you know the drill.
One morning, Kay decides her hatred of bread vendors is at an all-time high, and decides to begin making passes at us in that cleaning-mobile. She never technally hit us fully, always JUST stops before doing so, prompting her to cuss at us for " being in the way ". We even did our best to ingore her, and stay far out her path... with no luck, as she got bolder and bolder the longer we where there.
Long story short, she DID ending up running one of us over. Like, ACTUALLY DROVE THE DAMN THING OVER A GUY ! Needless to say , we got her fired on the spot, and the person who was ran over came out of that overall safe and alive.
Didn't know till about a week later, apparently Kay was piss-assed drunk that night, but was the kind that never looked like she would be. Go figure...
.
Honestly though, I personally can forgive ALL the crap I see, if they just keep the damn stores clean.
Working Theory : " No such thing as a Clean Kroger , or a Wal-Mart with actual backroom space " .

On some level it might just be envy because you get to go outside and drive around to different places and they are stuck in the same building 8 hours a day like a prison. The grass is greener on the otherside kind of thing.

What was your experience dealing with sickness? I don't mean this in a germaphobic way, just curious. Did you get sick a lot? How bad was working when sick?

similar experience here, that job sucked *ass* because all the workers at all the stores hated me, and all the managers at all the stores thought that they were my boss
