Hey I'm not sure which is the best board for discussion of this study/discipline, feel free to move it I read this article last year on the potential replacement of batteries for solar storage to the use of compressed air https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com/2018/05/ditch-the-batteries-off-grid-compressed-air-energy-storage.html as the article points out, there is still a lot of raw engineering work that needs to be done before this becomes workable, but I'm going to try to experiment with this at some point now i'm doing some construction using air tools and they're absolutely fascinating to me as well i'm curious to know what uses / potential other people see in this technology, where it's going, what resources are available for study, and what barriers exist. I mean apparently compressed air can heat and cool domiciles but it was never picked up.

I think this belongs in /diy/, but aside from that I think the big question is what the cost/benefit factors are. I understand moving off the grid, but I'm curious what is limiting the scale of implementation if this is a feasible idea.
