Why is it that whenever a tor thread goes up on any tech related board on any website, schizos crawl out of the woodwork to say it's compromised? Every single one I've seen employs one or more of these talking points:
* Tor project did insignificant thing X in regards to the software, they are compromised
* Tor project said something I didn't like, project is compromised
* Third party Y somewhat related to the project screwed up, somehow this links the tor project directly, therefore they're both compromised
* Tor project are jews/niggers/sjws/terrorists/antifa/insertstrawmanhere, they're compromised
* Tor was made by the govt., tor == cia/mossad
Here's an example, >>>/sec/6642. It hits talking points one and three, then devolves into name calling, much like any other conspiracy theory thread. Anyone that tries to refute this theory (which you can't, because it's based upon self-made 'facts' that the person arguing for the theory will never accept as false) will be rejected and called cia/mossad/jew/nigger, further creating an echo chamber of ideas.
These sort of unfounded, contrived, erroneous, and downright idiotic threads serve no purpose but to create false ideas about tor, which is stronger the more users and data it transmits. By purposefully driving people away from tor, these threads make tor weaker.

some people are just harmful, if it is possible block them (respect to the mods for doing that). I would not call them agents or anything else, just harmful.
Why?
Cause some people (have to) enjoy this kind of speculation, they have found a safe and simple way of understanding the world (it is the Other (a human with a different essence i.e. the jews, sjws, NPCs, goverment, antifa, etc etc)). Then, their proofs being false data, and using a thesis based on that to deduct suppositions. This essentialism (in my opinion) is the main aspect of harmful political ideologies, as it goes against the basic notion of all people being born (as of essence (i.e. they were not by accident born in a rich family, by accident born Jewish/Catholic/black/gay) those accidental values are for them the determining and unchangable factors) equal. It is such a deep divide, that there is no value to discuss with those people, as this basic metaphysical difference cannot be discussed with any facts, and they lack rigour to discuss it on any sensible level. Yes, this fact is quite against democracy and debate, as it will not lead to any useful conclusions and will stall progress.
Tor (and/or any other program you use) could be insecure, but then, just do code review of the actual network code. If the browser is the problem (and lets be frank here, nobody can do full review of Firefox code now), then use other browser and configure it yourself if you do not trust Tor organisation.

>* Tor project did insignificant thing X in regards to the software, they are compromised
Most tech type people are not security minded and don't understand threat modelling. You explain to them a situation where Tor doesn't work and they immediately go "aha! TOR is a scam, enjoy your botnet losers look how smart I am".
>* Tor was made by the govt., tor == cia/mossad
Same as point one. Lazy, ego driven tech type people uncover some vaguely obscure detail about the project's past lying just under the surface and that makes them feel clever.
>* Tor project said something I didn't like, project is compromised
This one runs a bit deeper. You need to go back a good number of years to find a Tor talk or panel which doesn't have a man in a skirt or a "poc" or some other clueless diversity token shoved into the spotlight. And that irritates people because it gives the impression that the Tor network is not actually the Tor project's number 1 priority.
>* Tor project are jews/niggers/sjws/terrorists/antifa/insertstrawmanhere, they're compromised
Again, this one is not completely irrational. If a security tool is owned and developed by a group of people with a single political ideology who feel morally justified in dicking over "the enemy" then that is probably not a tool you want to trust. I'm not saying that's where Tor is, but sometimes it appears that is where Tor is heading. Especially after the ejection of Jacob.
>Why is it that whenever a tor thread goes up on any tech related board on any website, schizos crawl out of the woodwork to say it's compromised?
To a point Tor is actually an effective tool and a pain in the ass for law enforcement and intelligence services. Obviously there are technological ways that a sufficiently resourced and motivated group can break any individual's anonymity and privacy but the cheapest and most effective method is to just scare people into not using things like Tor in the first place.
You said it yourself
>purposefully driving people away from tor, these threads make tor weaker.
