What do you think it will look like?(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, Rule 4 Please elaborate in your future posts as to what you are interested in the cyberpunk future and why as well as describing your answer to your own question.)

Damn great video.

Alphabet takes its gloves off and uses its power to dominate the globe. The information they have is used to attract perfect carrots to lure people to their side and perfect sticks to punish people who go against them.
You like that girl, right? What if we manipulated her into liking you? Just sign here.
No? I guess we'll have to tell her about how you spent all that time lurking her social media, and then we'll push some less flattering images and posts of yours from years ago to the top when they look you up.

it would not be that overt... imagine having to even see that there are other human beings around you?
to be honest, I think the future looks something like:
>massive populations shift as climate change (especially SE/SW asia) pushes people inland or northward
>human migration stresses infrastructure, producing megacities and urban sprawl
>countries will loose control of megacities (alternatively they will use technology, probably commercial via megacorps to control massive populations)
>where the state looses control, from population or resource depletion, or technological evolution, organized crime will flourish, tradesmen who are unable to do their jobs (fishermen, farmers, etc.) will increasingly rely on transnational criminal organizations to provide work and food/shelter
>military intervention will focus on preventing actual engagement when possible, use of drones and perhaps autonomous vehicles/combat mechs will function in the place of people think like GiTS
>law enforcement will become more mechanized to keep up with evolving criminals and to deal with high density threats in megacities
>law enforcement may be replaced by military or become paramilitary (otherwise, paramilitary companies will provide security for the highest bidder)
The dominant languages will be
>Chinese, English, (Arabic?) and Spanish
The arctic/antarctic will be the only place to escape massive amounts of people, and those will become industrial oil fields and shipping lanes (good for nordic countries) but there will be nowhere to avoid millions of people. If humanity can find a way to leave the planet, moonbases may show up (mars mission by 2020 when?)
Everything you buy will probably come from amazon and friends (they are now looking at the auto industry). If amazon were to merge with bayer-monsanto they would control the entire industry from megafarm to fridge.
Drones and autonomous vehicles will replace drivers everywhere, but bicycles smaller personal vehicles (perhaps hoverbikes) will be common
MAYBE all human interaction will be through the wired. 5G was scheduled to go mainstream in Q1-Q3 of this year, which means everybody will have gigabit speeds everywhere (the current hurdles are legal, not technical) which means that VR/AR and weak AI systems could be installed everywhere and will be used similarly to the advertising in mass effect (walk by a 5g relay tower or sign, get a custom ad irl targeted to you based on your data signature - basically what facebook has been doing in the wired for almost a decade). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRAr9P02Qfk
All of these are based on scientific papers, so it is more of a matter of waiting them out rather than imagining them.

You are no longer allowed to own your own vehicle, as self driving cars are considered safer and people who manually control cars are labelled a risk to public safety.
Microchipping goes from a fringe thing done by "internet of things" zealots to mandatory for government employees and prisoners to required for most jobs to something required for citizenship in totalitarian states like USA. Babies get forcibly chipped at birth, like a 21st century version of circumcision.
Important people are controlled by their metadata that Google, the NSA, and other intelligence groups steal. Either they manipulate the information they receive so they act in a predictable way, or they are threatened with it if that doesn't work (i.e. You get a call at 8:30 AM. They tell you that they know the route and time your daughter takes when walking to school. They also say that there's a dark alley with no cameras on the way. It would be a shame if there were a rapist there today, right? Just endorse us in the next election and it'll all be fine)
DNA testing becomes required. First, it will be for insurance. Then it will be for the purpose of national security. The whole world will be accounted for in a DNA database. Even the people who dodge it will be in it because their relatives gave in.
Devices will drop more and more features in order to force you to adopt proprietary methods of using them, and therefore, forcing you into supporting a brand for life. Perhaps external computers will mostly cease to exist, as implanted computers replace phones and PCs. Therefore, people who are not chipped will be unable to participate in society.
Aesthetically, it will be uninteresting. It will be the same brand of Apple store brand minimalism applied to everything.
The truth will cease to exist. People figure out ways to fake all the things that used to be evidence. History will no longer matter, because there is no way to prove that it wasn't all an elaborate fake that came into existence a few weeks ago. Every photo could have easily been generated by a machine, it's no longer possible for any digital forensics to prove if a photo or video was edited.

>even the people who dodge it will be because their parents gave in
worth noting that your DNA is significantly different from your parents' DNA. There's a lot of shuffling and epigenetics that goes on there. You could make pretty good guesses about specific genes(punnet squares) but you would have nothing close to a complete genetic map.

>still thinking the government will coerce you into anything
every study has shown that incentives work better than intimidation, and the government has little power compared to advertising corporations (like google and facebook) and sellers (like amazon). If anything, you will see companies indirectly supporting political manipulation (as they already do) by selling products or advertising in a manner that steers opinion to one or another, akin to how social media campaigns are used as political propaganda (the russians, chinese, and north koreans have become exceptional at this). Elections cannot be safeguarded, because social engineering works better than any voting hack ever could.
Rage is a better tactic than encouragement and support when you are trying to get people to react, expect most campaigns to be nothing but "dirt" on their opponents or their campaigns. Which brings us to the second part of your post:
>The truth will cease to exist. People figure out ways to fake all the things that used to be evidence. this is already a growing problem, and could technically be used as a defense against legal prosecution

It will be a future where people like us prevail and become an unstoppable force.
Linda Lee · 2019-03-15 22:39
It will be a future where people like us will be in jail for not using mandatory proprietary software.
Do you really think that citizens of Google will be allowed to have DRM-free content and unregulated hardware?

You truly speak like a hacker from 90s. So narrow minded. You will be allowed to exist, although your existence would be limited you aren't really a threat to the system at large.

This seems probable. Although I'm not that certain about the state losing control. I'm afraid the West will adopt Chinese measures of controlling the population through something like WeChat. And with better image recognition and the advancement of the CCTV state (with people's approval), there may be no place for petty crime in the future.

It's way easier than that. Make licenses and regulations so strict and expensive no one wants to use them anymore.
You might not completely remove them from existence, but it's close enough.

Google's contributions of a lot of things to open source seem to suggest as much too.
They freely share... inconsequential things. The order of the day will be along the lines of "make them feel important" while harmless.

I agree. They'll be treated like guns in most countries: yeah, you can get them legally, but the process in doing so is so time consuming and there are so many restrictions and rules to go through that they might as well be illegal. I imagine you'll be required to put a dashcam, GPS, etc. in them for "safety reasons" so that you can't get around surveillance by jumping through hoops.
