It could be argued that if Kerensky and the Duma had told Britain and France to pound sand immediately after assuming control, the anti-war populace would have flocked to their side rather than the openly anti-war Bolsheviks. Russians in 1917 were thoroughly sick of the war and would have joined any cause whose leader promised to get them out of it.
