Who of you Lains are going to visit the 34th Chaos Communication Congress and which talks or workshops do you have in mind?
Would you like to hold a comfy meetup at the Teahouse again? :3

I went last year and I'm coming this year too. Should we have the meetup on day1 or day2 this year? If we do it on day3, congress will be over just after we met each other.
Ender · 2017-12-25 02:36
to be honest the congress gets worse every year. Too much politics and less technical talks. Also the CCC of today is like kicking dead whales down the beach tranny cock and regularly drives out wrongthinkers. It's a fuarrrking soykafshow.

Good suggestion. We should schedule our meeting on IRC again, just like last year. This time in #conferences though, because Appleman wants it so.

That's what I'm going to do anyway. As long as I can walk around without getting harassed by SJW bullsoykaf, I will attend to congresses.

If you look at transgenderism as a precursor for transhumanism, bias against that sort of thing is definitely cyberpunk, you see it in a lot of cyberpunk works.
But I think you're using "/cyb/" more to mean "the values that this communities upholds", in which case: this is a metropolitan community, with transgendered people and transphobes alike. Please don't speak as though you speak for everyone.

The Fahrplan this year looks better than the last few years. Also I like to object, that the c3 has grown ervery year. The people you want to hang out with are still there, but you have to look a bit around.
I'm looking forward to the 34c3 and the new location. Friends of mine are already there.

Nemissa · 2017-12-25 17:49
>>6363
I can. At one of the later years in Berlin someone was kicked out because he wore some Thorsteinar Merch, a shop associated with the right wing groups / culture. While I construe from the all-lifeforms-welcome scrolls the CCC subscribes itself to especially during Congress the implied decency to not present myself in uniform or banners of any broader political activism that is out of scope of the CCCs _political_ fields or should I say original _political_ fields the people higher up seem to think differently. Otherwise I wouldn't be enduring the open representation of Antifa Chapters at the congress. Funnily enough there is a distinct lack of Sportwehrgruppen.
And yes I know the genesis of the CCC but then cut the hypocritical all creatures welcome bullsoykaf. It could have been a common ground to tackle technological and adhering political problems but no it had to become an ideological circle jerk.
The rapid expansion was a mistake (not just in my opinion) and people criticizing that have been shunned and attacked on the lists and outside of it when questioning policies and the overall direction of things.
>>6361
>Fahrplan too shallow discussion
I'd like to add a dimension. I'm familiar with the crowd that meets at congress to hack things. You know those nerds who never leave the HC. The last years people got told off for soldering "too much" and testing at their tables. This year the word is that you're only allowed to solder at some designated tables. Flying *copters is completely forbidden. Only outside if you have a license and some other fun requirements. Photographing peoples faces and displays without permission is a normal occurrence not a rare exception that results in a monitored deletion of the photos taken and a stern lecture.
Now to be fair some of these things can be attributed to building owners and their safety requirements but the overall cultural shift can't.
> Also I like to object, that the c3 has grown ervery year.
That statement is not wrong in itself but missing the point. For every visitor in 2011 we have 3 additional visitors in 2013 (>=4 in post 2014). And what we're talking about are still the adjustments happening from that massive expansion.

These guys are literally just Nazis with different goal posts. Instead of Jews it's white "cis" men. They force their opinions and values onto everyone else and don't listen to any kind of criticism or alternative thoughts. They are not more tolerant or liberal, they are just tolerant and liberal about *different things*. And exactly as fascist and closed minded about everything else.

The point is it's not diversity or equality. They are just trying to change who is privileged and who is discriminated. And it's all done under the banner of liberalism and freedom but it's the exact opposite.

Ehh.
I saw a few people with cameras around. There were a couple of press people, who when I saw them, unless they were actively shooting were either pointing their camera up or at the floor, or had it covered (or both). Some other journalists came and were doing video, but they asked permission before starting to film. Other people with dslr's and other cameras tended to have them up or covered.
There were many people will cellphone cameras, its harder to follow them, but most seemed carefully framing things to avoid random people being clear, shooting from below targets, waiting while people move et cetera.
is it perfect, I mean, no.
But I feel like you're representation of it is here being a little over the top. Maybe expansion isnt a good thing, I am not trying to comment on that, but specific critisisms should be backed up.

You use different words but the meaning is the same "you must believe what we believe". It is fascist thought police pretending to be left wing and liberal.
A better mission statement would be "All creatures welcome except those who cause trouble". The emphasis needs to be on what people *do*. not on what they think.

Yes, telling people they must believe X and not Y is a fascist ideology, even when Y is also fascism. Do as I say not do as I do. It is not a contradiction. It is literally how authoritarianism works. Tricking people to believe you are the opposite of what you are is a good strategy when what you are is evil.
We need to get politics out of tech. "Diversity" should be a bad word just like "ethnic cleansing". Show me code that works and do the politics somewhere else.

I guess the CCC is just not for you, then.
Congress is all about combining art, politics and technology.
And congress isn't the only technology group with political intentions.
If you're into anarcho capitalism, there's the blockchain clowns.
If you're into neo-liberalism, there's silicon valley.
If you're into feudalism, there's urbit.
Also, the idea of technology having ever been free of politics is a neo-liberal lie.

Trouble is a distraction from what we are trying to achieve e.g. talk about technology. The point is there should not be any political bias in the organizing. If the antifa are kicking off at the npd it's the antifa that should be kicked out because they started the trouble, not the npd because you don't like them.
