Hello everyone, I don't know if this is the right place. Mods fell free to move this topic.
I want to learn some low level programming language, but I'm not sure if should I take cobol or assembly, I would love to know your opinion, witch one should I start with?
What are the main differences between the former and the latter? I mean, which would be more "useful"?
Does anyone here use any low programming language? If so, which one?
What are the alternatives for those languages?
Fell free to share any material, thanks in advance.

I don't have any experience with Cobol but knowing assembly language has been a god send. It really forces you to understand everything that you're doing and that translates beautifully to C/C++ and other non-interpreted languages. It also greatly helps with debugging and reverse engineering.

The >>>/λ/ board would be a better place to ask these questions. More specifically the beginner's general thread.
