Not quite sure where to post this, so I guess I'll post it here. Sorry if this isn't the right place for it. I've decided it might be a good idea to make a physical library or archive of an array of things on the internet on the off chance that the internet gets censored beyond use and that the many libraries of pdfs, torrents, documents, studies and the like are lost forever. Any advice on how to go about doing this? Maybe a collaborative effort? There are a bunch of downloads and torrents of books and things out there, and it might help to throw them all into one download so that anons can easily obtain these things on physical drives in case Pandora's Box is one day closed and the internet is either lost or turned into TV 2.0.
I originally wrote out a long-winded explanation for why I thought this might be a good idea, but I figured nobody would read it if I posted it, so I posted this tl;dr of it instead. I'm new here so I'm not really too familiar with what is considered enough information or what is too vague. If you want me to say more let me know. Also, if it's not considered shilling, I can provide some links to good bundles of pdfs and stuff I've found here and there.

I've seen something similar to this topic on survivalist boards, but talking about preserving net stuff in case of a nuclear exchange, by shielding it in a Faraday cage.
But what would you save? Furry porn, dank memes, chat logs, YTMND, cat videos, Chuck Norris jokes, Newgrounds cartoons, Naruto/Harry Potter slashfic... all these moments will be lost, like tears in rain.

Get the Biggest NAS you can afford, and start downloading everything you think is important. Maybe run a seed box and skim the torrents running through it to collect more stuff.
Other than that, I am not sure what you can do. Storage space is becoming cheaper with time. Probably, the amount of data you can store will increase at least as fast as the internet grows. If you have the resources you should be able to save everything you can access in a lifetime on media with cost that approaches zero.

As a follow up,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNA_digital_data_storage
If you can stand to wait out the sequencing times or reduce those sequencing times, you may be able to reduce the cost further by using self replicating storage media, like DNA.
Its density is higher than the tape above, and it may well be more stable in the long run.

The above is another super dense long term storage technology that is being developed. It is very slow to read and write to, but it has enormous capacity and excellent long term stability. Probably still very experimental and thus expensive though.
Please share your delicious philes.

"The size of the internet" is a hard question to answer concretely and depends greatly on how you define the internet.
If you just want the data that is indexed at the major search engines, and other silicon valley giants, and include all academic presses and journals as well as all libraries have managed to digitize over the last few decades, you would probably be looking at a figure around an exabyte of data. maybe 2 or 4 by now.
If you want to hoard ALLL THE DATA! thus making a complete back up of the entire internet, every server and chat log, every tweet, every non indexed site, every image, every transaction long ect ect ect. you will be looking at an exponentially larger number depending on the granularity of your backup.
Probably something on the order of 10 - 20 exabytes. maybe more by this time.
Assuming worst case scenario here...
Using the tape technology that IBM developed, it would take you about 70000 of those 330 terabyte cartridges that IBM claims it developed. That is a number that would fit in a large house probably, depending on the cartridge size... If we take the data density per unit length they gave...which is roughly 102,250 bytes per inch-lengh of tape, we find that 20 exabytes, or 2*10^19 bytes can be stored on roughly 1.96*10^14 inches of tape. This number translated to miles is, 3087105777 miles.
That is several metric assloads of tape. It could be done, but the cost would be enormous, and the value would be questionable due to having no efficient way to index all that data nor any fast way of reading and writing all of it. Assuming the time it takes you to make that tape archive does not exceed the doubling time of the internet, you should be able to catalog everything...

Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry, I should've been more specific. I'm focusing on practical information such as pdfs and the like. I'm less concerned with games, memes and such, at least for now. It would be cool to put all of these pdfs and videos into one download available for everyone, and maybe even have something that anyone can add to. No idea how to do this though. Megaupload, maybe? Their limits on download speed seem a little ridiculous in my opinion.
Also, it seems that I've lost most of my links. Sorry. Here's what hasn't been lost:
>the /ark/
A giant torrent of everything related to /k/ - military, firearms, survival, etc. The original link I found seems to be broken but I'm sure a mirror can be found somewhere.
>/32/ library
8ch psychopolitics board. They have a nice library with books on memetics, social engineering, marketing, propaganda, etc.
https://mega.nz/#F!m00SjRRA!R_I9wzUTEhSN6spP35TyZg
>/co/ drawthread pastebin
Tutorials on drawing and art. There's some pdfs available for download, among other things.
http://pastebin.com/4CpXsY7a
>/omg/ library
/x/'s Occultism and Magick General library. There's a lot in here; Freemasonry, Discordianism, AA, LHP, Shamanism, even Wicca.

Will update as more links are recovered. If any anons have any as well feel free to dump them here.
