advice for early diabetic

H.R. Giger · 2017-08-16 16:59
I just got diagnosed with diabetes at 23 years old. and it is like kicking dead whales down the beach not being able to consume the same ammount of sweets like when I was younger if I want to make it pass 50 years old. Changing my eating habits and doing diets will be tough but i did eat healthy before so I want to expect that won't cause that much trouble. I was given metmorfin in a very small dosage to control to control my early diabetes so I still have a chance. What are your practices Lains diets, excercises. also can I still treat myself with a small sweet every now and then?

>>5043 My mother has type 1 diabetes. Don't stop testing your blood sugar, do it frequently. Feel soykafty? Test. Light headedness probably = low, drink a juice box. Try to keep blood sugar around 5.5 in general via moderate exercise and if you want to eat anything sugary once in a while, take your damned insulin. Good luck, I hope it doesn't get very serious.

Type 2 in remission here. Swap out carbohydrates for primarily greens and meat. Cut out sugar altogether. Do some exercise every day. Walk everywhere. Try artificial sweeteners, it'll scratch the taste itch, if not the sugar buzz. And do pick up any books or magazines on diabetes you run into, and make use of any diabetes organisations in your part of the world. And finally, my secret weapons, onions, dark green vegetables, and cinnamon. My biologist friend sent me some scientific papers when I was diagnosed, seems lab animals they induced diabetes in responded well to onion, dried onion, onion extract, and onion oil. So I try to get some onion every day. Chromium might help, so the dark greens, like silverbeet. And cinnamon is an insulin sensitiser, and anaesthetises the gastric sphincter to slow down your digestion. I sprinkle it on cereal, and in my coffee. Swap out everything for the low-GI or sugar-free or low-carb version. And don't listen to your friends or family unless they actually have diabetes, after the tenth time you try explaining to them what carbohydrates are, and no, gluten free doesn't help, you will realise that opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and they're full of soykaf. Avoid white bread like the plague, the soykaf they use to bleach the bread white is the same stuff they use to give lab animals diabetes.

>>5043 My mother has seen many of her friends with type 2 diabetes literally cured with the "ketosis" diet so I guess imma have to obligatorily wage slave it as my recommendation Seems legit from what I've seen. Like, conducive to general health as well. Focus/energy/etc (It's also a great excuse to eat bacon every day) The tl;dr is >less than 30 grams carbs per day >yes, be careful of vegetables also >be at least marginally aware of your fat/protein ratio >MAKE SURE YOU ARE GETTING ENOUGH PROTEIN BASED ON YOUR BODY WEIGHT

>>5043 I've been a type 1 diabetic for a year now, I can sympathsize, losing that little bit of control is soykaf. It's beyond your hands now, take a practical approach and make the most of it. I refused to get help until I was almost dead when I was first diagnosed, I ended up losing a lot of weight. It was unhealthy at the time, but I've maintainedmore healthy version of that now, got a thin, toned aesthetic going. It's easier to keep a good diet when you have package label reading paranoia. Factor in sweets as part of your meal and account for them if you want, it's not going to kill you. There's also nothing stopping you from taking insulin whenever you feel like it, though you'll have to vary injection points. If you know how much carbohydrate is in a food product, experiment with how much you can eat without doing your sugar level harm. You can also eat sweets outside of meals if you practice good exercise, it tends to burn down blood sugar.

>>6828 This is why you don't ask for medical advice on anonymous message boards. There is no goddamn cure for diabetes.

Friendly reminder: while Type-2 diabetes may or may not be reversible for everyone, the fact is that pre-diabetes can often be reversed. The issue is that pre-diabetes has no symptoms, so it has to be found in a routine checkup or by chance (went to the doctor for other reason, bam, surprise) before it's too late. Given the amount of sugar in pretty much everything, it's worth to find out if you are on the way of the beetus or not. >>6828 https://discover.dc.nihr.ac.uk/portal/article/4000931/type-2-diabetes-can-be-reversed-with-a-low-calorie-diet

>>5043 You don't need to go over 50 or even 40, after 40s the life becomes boring and painful.

I was recently diagnosed with type 1 right after graduation and it was kinda a near death situation, if wasn't taken in then I had I probably would have been dead a week or two later. But even tho I'm a diabetic I have sweets nearly as often as I want I hardly have to take the insulin I normally would with my sliding scale. Diabetes doesn't tend to follow it's own rules. People are different so don't be afraid to test the waters with it to see what you can handle.

Go on a ketogenic diet. Diabetes is reversible.

I just discovered rosemary. The chemicals in rosemary are anti-diabetic, but can be toxic in large doses, so maybe one cup of rosemary tea a day, just a sprig in hot water. It's easy to grow as a shrub. It's also really good chopped up on meat, or in chicken stuffing.

>>5043 Legumes and porridge from unprocessed cereals (buckwheat, especially) will save you from turning into always-chewing goat, seeking for energy just not to fall unconscious. Learn how to cook food, so it will be delicious. Your best mentor in this is a cooked food itself: just change process according to result next time. Use spices. Don't be lazy to try new low-GI food. The are alot of food databases https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycemic_index#External_links for example. Sweets is not a problem at all. After some time of sweet flavor abstinence, your sweet taste will become hypersensitive. It's surprised me when milk suddenly become sweet as honey. So, with your new super-power, you would be able to eat berries and fruits like candies. Good luck and keep an eye on your health.
