https://asgardia.space/en/ What do you think of this? It should be a sort of space nation, for now there isn't the tecnology to phisically transport untrained people to the space station but every citizien has 100kb to upload on a satellite. You can request citizienship on the site until 1.000.000 people do it (now they're about 250.000l)

>>4969 Last time I checked, they only accepted only 25,000 candidates, and before that they accepted only 10,000. The idea is cute and all but you know - people think that there is more to it than there actually is

I can't wait to send a picture of my dick into space.

it's pretty cool, I'm not that convinced by their constitution though

>>4974 Technically speaking you probably already have.

>>4975 The constitution seems alright, although there could be some changes. What don't you like about it? I didn't see anything about self defense and weapons/firearms. Can one own and defend themselves, property and family with weapons?

>>4969 How is it a kingdom? Does it have a monarchy? I assume this is a constitutional monarchy then?

>>4990 heh it's a matter of taste, I don't want to derail the thread. I'm not exactly into big governments, even in space >Chapter 1.9 Asgardia has no place for political parties. However, every Asgardian can freely participate in the political life on Earth. so you can participate in politics but you can't associate with likeminded people, dunno how's that supposed to work. It sounds kinda authoritarian >Art 18.3 The views of people and Asgardian citizens about human dignity shall be formed and fostered through education, parenting, propaganda, and the media, in accordance with Asgardia’s Supreme Values. allowing government propaganda in a constitution is a weird idea, even if it's for a fair cause >Art 23.3 To ensure information security, the Government regulates the circulation of certain types of information on the basis of the Constitution of Asgardia and in accordance with the procedure set by Asgardia’s laws. Doesn't go well with free speech, pretty loosely defined too tbh aside from equal legal rights the only supreme value I could ever agree with is letting everyone choose their own values as long as they don't hurt anybody. I like unrestricted free speech a lot too. Still cool to see thought experiences like that though
BloodCat · 2017-08-14 17:56
>>4999 Yea, I agree that there shouldn't be big governments. How would you write your ideal constitution? Can you have free speech as well as removing anything that could hurt the nation?
Fred Nurk · 2017-08-15 14:14
>>5003 I dunno I never really though about it, not gonna write an unresearched off topic tl;dr >Can you have free speech as well as removing anything that could hurt the nation? it depends on what you mean by nation, as I understand it "nation" is a concept, concepts can't be hurt because they aren't people. Ideas can only be refined, proven wrong or turned into something else and free speech helps with that. No idea is good enough to become an unchallengeable dogma imo, even if there are people willing to die for it

Since it's already being discussed, a space station or planetary colony is the last place to start some kind of liberal democracy or free state. You may be outside the reach of Earth governments but life in a place like that has to be tightly regulated and controlled. I can't believe firearms were even mentioned in this thread. Even if your bullets can't breach the hull, every square millimeter in those places is used for something and you're bound to cause damage no matter what. A place where even the air you breathe is a controlled commodity is not exactly a breeding ground for freedom. And imagine the fire regs.
