I have a question about working out... total noob here though.
Let's assume I want to start working out, not so much for fitness, but for increasing my life expectancy. I am slightly obese, 100kg on a 181cm body... I also have a shoulder injury that is healed but my right shoulder is permanently damaged.
Where is the upper limit of exercise where instead of improving my health, my body is rather starting to wear itself out and therefore is actually detrimental to my longevity?

first workout: literally go until you can't. Push yourself right up to the point of pain.
every workout after that: use lessons learned about your limits to make a workout that's challenging but not destructive.

Hatha yoga and cardio training would probably be best for specific longevity.
Then once you're in reasonable physical shape maybe investigate Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais Method.

>slightly obese
>100kg 181cm
better start cutting that dreamer bulk for your own good familjones, that's a bit more than "slightly".

I think all you need to stay fit is some floor space and a pull up bar. But I filled my floor with electronics and then lost the tools to fit the pull up bar somewhere in the mess. But... throwing stuff away is like throwing away dreams.

I think you'd have to train a hell of a lot harder than you are going to before you affect your longevity detrimentally.

kek, i feel you, also I have not used my pullup bar due to PC parts in the way of my door, and unfortunately I hurt myself pretty bad at work, making it almost impossible to do a pullup, so all i ever do is bike

buy a barbell, adjustable dumbbells and over 100lbs worth of weights (yes glitterboy you do need muscle or you won't ever look good). make sure the weights can fit on the barbell and dumbells. that will be like 200 dollars. then get a squat rack for like 100 dollars. then do squat, deadlift, overhead press, pullups and pushups.
eat less food and do intermittent fasting aswell. once you are skinny (maybe like 70kg) you can start running (you are fat as fuarrrk right now bro you will hurt yourself if you run) and bulking. that means you eat a lot of GOOD food like oats, milk, seafood and veggies and become strong.

I was in the same boat OP. My problem is my knees are fuarrrked so I can only ride a stationary bike. My problem rn is finding time. Honestly just do some cardio. first time go until you think you can't then go for another 5 to 10 you'll quickly learn that right now without doing exercise what you think is your limit is actually just the first level of "pain". I used to get out of breath and all that but I kept going and now I can pump out a 20 minute bike ride before I start to really "feel" it.
Also if you have friends to go to the gym with or someone you know who goes to the gym a lot go with them it helps get into a routine
