Starting a thread because I'm curious about making money off of user generated content (mods: i didn't think this fit in tech, but feel free to move it if you disagree). From my understanding, licensing agencies buy people's home videos and sell them to aggregator pages on social media. There seems to be a lot of money in it.. is it worth getting into for a low effort hustle? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check this cancerous soykaf out: >https://www.facebook.com/Storyful/ The options i can think of: >make a bunch of stupid meme videos and sell them to licensing agencies easy enough, but i doubt it pays well >steal unknown videos from youtube and post them yourself less work getting content, more work keeping up an army of sock accounts. you probably would also need a shell licensing company to "buy" the videos from so that your actual page doesn't get taken down by IP vigilantes. >actually buy the vids (from creators directly, or from a middle man) i have no idea what the margins are like for this kind of thing, but you could practically automate the entire operation. problem is, i don't know how you actually get paid out beyond whatever the social website of choice deigns to give you. >just build a following by sharing/linking other people's content, then come up with a way to profit off them make sponsored posts, sell the page, misc shilling, etc.

Or perhaps you can start a youtube channel. The main premise of the channel should be drama or how youtubers prefer to call them "commentary channels" check this video out https://youtu.be/H9_6UCkxu_U there are countless of these "commentary" channels on youtube such as https://www.youtube.com/user/ImAllexx https://www.youtube.com/user/WildSpartanz https://www.youtube.com/user/LeafyIsHere https://www.youtube.com/user/MultiNfz https://www.youtube.com/user/Pyrocynical https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZSVvDqRX9_b377Jta8eA_Q https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT7BLBDnD-wEXeqZSg24aJw which are quite cancerous, but it turns out people quite fancy seeing drama related content. Youtube has been struck with some controversy because ads were playing on ISIS videos and the biggest youtuber (pewdiepie) has been labeled as an "alt-right supporter" for making edgy stupid jokes. So currently youtube is trying to be more family friendly and they are demonetizing these so called "commentary" channels, so my advice would be after gaining a handful audience make a patreon because that's what usually small yt channels resort to.
