u guys wanna help me find out who stole the washer, dryer, mini fridge and tile saw off of my front porch? It would make for great detective practice.
Elliot Alderson · 2017-06-30 01:32
>>3740 NYPA aside, don't you have more pics ? I can't imagine anyone deciphering anything from just this one, but maybe correlating several together could yield something. Like if the dudes go around stealing stuff with their address printed on the truck. And green stories are nice too.
fsociety · 2017-06-30 01:42
sounds fun, what info do you have to go off of? city would be a good start, look at similar crimes in the area around the same time
Lord Nikon · 2017-06-30 02:04
Yes what >>3741 said, please provide more information instead of attaching an unrelated image and just spilling the soykaf. You should've done so while you were making the OP.
LoveLess · 2017-06-30 02:15
The city is Harvey, Louisiana. The story goes like this. I just got home from work and was playing vidya. Dad came home and asked "OP where did the washer and dryer go?" I didn't know. Our neighbor has a camera on his house, so we check with him to see if he cold help us out. It seems that at 9am a man backed into our empty driveway and knocked on the door. After nobody answered, he walked over and talked to my next door neighbor for a second and then got back into his car and left. about 2 hours later at 10:40am 2 men in a white pickup truck pulled in-front my home and took the items listed earlier. I'll provide more pictures and a video in next post.
PMYA · 2017-06-30 02:30
I would like to help with this but we're going to need more pics (if you have any) and some basic info like city you live in. On a side note, this gave me an idea. What if crimefighting could be crowdsourced? This already happens due to social media usage being so widespread, photos and videos being uploaded etc. Could this be centralised? I'm not just talking about pooling together information that exists on the internet, but rather a kind of active investigation into ongoing or unsolved crime cases. The whole weaponised autism thing with Russian airstrikes and finding Shia Laboeuf's HWNDU flag by calculating flight paths and the position of the sun could be a proof of concept. That was conducted in an extremely unorganised manner in a format that did not lend itself to the end goal, but it was still effective. How would one go about creating a platform to pull this together and organise it?

>>3746 There are already OSINT communities for intel and counter terror who do this, it seems like a natural progression into community protection

>>3748 Are there any supermarkets where they were heading? How about street cams? I'm asking to see if someone's camera can identify the license plate. Also the guy in the orange t-shirt seems to be young, perhaps he's in collage
LoveLess · 2017-06-30 03:15
>>3749 Not in the direction they would have been headed in and it is possible that the man in the orange shirt is in college but I can't confirm that.
LoveLess · 2017-06-30 03:17
I've been trying to outline the logo on the truck to get a good lead. plz join in with me so we can discuss and compare our findings.
The Plague · 2017-06-30 03:27
>>3751 I will tomorrow friends, but i need to go to work in a few hours and i need my refresher stasis
PMYA · 2017-06-30 03:40
>>3751 To me it looks like the logo is slanted slightly as though it is a big sticker or something. It looks red and blue, is it some sort of political thing? Also is there anything on the back that doesn't belong to you? I can't quite make it out. I'm guessing this isn't the first time they've done this. Tyres look a little flat, particularly front passenger side. Aside from that I don't really notice anything that could help. Anyone know what kind of truck it is?
Marly Krushkhova · 2017-06-30 04:30
why is the logo so blurry?
Nameless · 2017-06-30 04:39
look at landscaping companies in that part of Louisianan, either that or construction companies logos
Crash Override · 2017-06-30 06:55
I brought up the contrast.
Rick Deckard · 2017-06-30 07:04
>>3758 I think this is as much as I can do before you lose detail. I suggest you print up posters with the images you have and put them up around the neighbourhood.
Terzibashjian · 2017-06-30 07:11
>>3759 Facebook, too, that's where the real signal-boosting power is. Lol, I just noticed I'm Rick Deckard and I'm enhancing a picture.

If you left those unsupervised, then I'm pretty sure it's not even technically stealing.

I said I would help, so here I am OP, Here are some logos, any of them seem to match? also this business had terrible appliance reviews https://www.yelp.com/biz/appliance-guys-new-orleans It probably got sold for scrap TBH also check creigs list http://www.wbrz.com/tags/stolen some tools , posted last 2 hours https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwi8vvb0q-bUAhXG7IMKHSSVCYsQFggzMAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fharvey.claz.org%2Fclassifieds%2Ffor-sale%2Ftools&usg=AFQjCNFGWqIv27NXnvY3t-7AqB0x9b1_8g

>>3755 its a picture of my neighbors computer screen. my dad took it
LoveLess · 2017-07-02 02:22
>>3778 no sadly. and we figured that the items were gonna b scrap, but if there's a slim chance i can find the guys who stole the junk, then i'll take it. i just want compensation or some kind of disciplinary action taken.
Roger Pollack · 2017-07-02 02:36
>>3796 Do you know the models of the stolen hardware? Call local storage and scrap shops to ask if they have it in their inventory. Pick up a yellowpage copy and look at the company logos. Scan business directories.
Joey · 2017-07-02 16:55
>>3795 Ask your neighbour to give you the camera files, uncompressed and then post them here or elsewhere. Current photos are near useless.
Hououin Kyouma · 2017-07-03 12:54
>>3803 This - and post stills here - not on some external site - help us help you! Video files would be better than stills (but they maybe too big to post here, so you can link those - do not recompress, just post the RAW video data you obtained) as you can maybe see driving style, limps, gate, gauge strength of individuals better than just stills. Any info from the convo the first guy had with your neighbor at 9 am? (i'm assuming he posed as a friend or sales guy and wanted to know when your family would be back?) - was this the same guy who came back - what did he look like? Can you post images or at least info on the models of appliances taken? That opening post was just so lacking in info even the bastard child of Jessica Fletcher and Columbo would have a hard time helping you! - now everyone has to trawl through the thread to find any further info - and I guess this may negate some Lains from helping!

>>3873 ha soykaf I mixed up crowdfunded and crowdsourced sorry, no you just get mob rule when it's crowdsourced

wait it's also mob rule when it's crowdfunded... nvm disregard that I suck cocks

>>3746 The airstrikes and Shia were done "for the lulz" - such results are not *reliably* attained through such activities. In order to make progress on non-'lulz'y cases, you'd need to provide some sort of incentive, like a bounty system. Even that, though, would encourage individual attempts over anonymous collaboration unless you found a way to fairly split the reward. (I guess you'd need some sort of voting system whereby the participants could direct the allocation proportionally to the deserving contributors.) >>3891 Care to elaborate? Do you have any specific, backed-up claims to make or are you just going to sling feces?
PMYA · 2017-07-11 16:12
>>4008 I agree that mobs forming would be a big issue. I discussed this briefly elsewhere and came to the conclusion that such a thing would have so many legal/harassment problems that the only way for it to exist would be something heavily regulated by an authority, such as what >>3747 mentioned, or for it to be the exact opposite. A hidden service, which would probably defeat the point of its existence anyway because it would no doubt end up becoming a hive of illegal activity.
Donna Hawthorne · 2017-07-11 20:00
>>4008 > Care to elaborate? Do you have any specific, backed-up claims to make or are you just going to sling feces? Actually if you're going to promote the idea of an economic and political system that's never been tried, the onus is on you to provide the evidence or at least some sound theories. But please don't do it here.
