Noticing this type of distribution, within a small range, seems to be typical of a lot of Lainons.
Armitage · 2017-05-27 01:14
The typical distribution. Some of the questions on the 8values test are a little more black-or-white than I'd like. For example, I believe it's important to have military spending but that it should be lower priority. Where does that fit on the scale of whether or not military spending is a waste? Another difficult one is whether victimless crimes like drug use should be illegal. This question makes the assertion that drug use is victimless, which is not necessarily true. I support free use alongside regulated production and sales, public education on the risks, accessible health services, and preventative measures for correlated crimes. Unfortunately that's a little too nuanced to be expressed as part of a questionnaire like this. I suppose I should bring up addressable concerns with the 8values team, but meh.

Masami Eiri · 2017-05-27 22:13
Meh. I wouldn't call myself a moderate conservative. I prefer to look at problems case by case. So most of these blanket statements don't really appeal to me. For instance, "International trade is beneficial" Well that depends on the resources of the trading nations, their development, the banking situation, and a whole lot else. For a specific trade deal you can analyze it and see where it benefits who, but you can't say the whole concept of international trade is beneficial or not. Another problem is one of language. In the question, "Governments should be accountable to the international community", the term "international community" is unclear. According to the Western ruling class, the international community is the US + allies. Perhaps the term should really mean a large majority of the world's nations. Multipolar international law is beneficial to the world's nations, while international law controlled by a single power group is harmful to the average nation. But answering the question will give +10 to world regardless.
Jens Hansen · 2017-05-27 22:24
>>3307 >>3308 The site is likely using the political science versions of the terms "Liberal" and "Conservative", not the extremely warped American definitions of those terms which are stand ins to mean "I vote Democrat" or "I vote Republican"
Marly Krushkhova · 2017-05-27 23:26
>>3308 These tests are always based on the assumptions of the people who made them. "Should we regulate this thing a lot or a little" and the option to get rid of the thing altogether isn't even there for example, whether that means either banning something by authority or simply not supporting the authority that imposed it on you in the first place.
Agent Smith · 2017-05-28 00:23
>>3310 >These tests are always based on the assumptions of the people who made them Specifically, each question is going to affect one of the axis with positive or negative points. How each question is even phrased will change your position along with how strongly you answer it. 8values in itself seems to be biased to lean to Libertarian Socialism in libertarian circles, which lainchan certainly inevitably is.

serious question for everyone in the green quadrant What form of society would you envisage these ideals working in? I can understand the lower right "if you earn it you keep it" philosophy, but how will wealth be redistributed without authority?
Project 2501 · 2017-05-29 16:05
>>3322 That's some pretty low quality bait, Lain. Society is simultaneously progressing in both directions at present. It's called "polarization".
Unidentified · 2017-05-29 16:07
>>3323 It's called mutual aid and normal people do it every day actually.
Lady Jessica · 2017-05-29 16:12
>>3323 Think of it like this: - Y axis is personal freedom. Increasing this means gay people are allowed to marry, there is no state religion, certain drugs are decriminalised and you have stronger and stronger free speech. Victimless crimes are not crimes. - X axis is corporate freedom. Increasing this means deregulating the market, reducing taxes, and making the barrier to enter the market as low as possible. So people in the green quadrant aren't about to abolish every law, just those restricting people's freedom. The commercial market however would be fairly heavily regulated. Green quadrant doesn't mean absence of government.
Erik Johansson · 2017-05-29 16:19
>>3323 Some of the differences from what is happening right now in the US (as a base example) would be switching to proper healthcare (like in other countries as Straya or Denmark). Note that the "if you earn it, you keep it" doesn't have to be invalidated this way, a major idea behind being in the green quadrant is that it is not happening right now - that is, those with power distribute wealth in a way that favours them, so a _very specific_ sort of intervention would be necessary for it to be distributed fairly. Note that this is not the absence of any system, the green quadrant isn't just complete anarchy. (though that is also where anarchists reside, generally) >>3321 >>3322 >>3324 Society as a whole is moving left slightly, but recently the movement has changed and there is more polarization than before, with more people going to the right. US is a good example of a place where the movement to the right has been particularly strong, but if you believe that the specific problems that have caused it (general frustrations that you probably know if) are going to be solved, then the movement will probably move to the left some more.

>>3327 ancient greek culture could be considered very liberal compared to aspects of medieval european culture, and even fascism in europe in the early 1900's. some pre-civilized tribes had essentially no notion of property, no marriage, just free sex between everyone. the marxist belief that society will always become more and more liberal requires one to be very short sighted. scientific progress wasn't held back by christianity like that infographic you can find on the atheist subreddit would have you believe, christianity flourished because times were hard then and people needed some ideology to hold on to if a nuclear war, famine, or some other massive disaster occurs, the world's political landscape will be closer to dark age europe than ancient greece. bear in mind that soon after the roaring 20's where everyone in the united states was doing drugs and having a right good old time, germany took part in ethnic cleansing. they were under too much pressure from the first war and the massive damage to their economy from reparations the term fascism comes from the latin term for a tightly wrapped bundle of thin sticks, because they are stronger together than apart. when times get hard, people get hard as well. that's why someone's family being blown up by a muslim person makes him more likely to hate muslims and join a white power group. violence evokes that primal part of peoples psyches. if you believe times will never be hard again in human history, you're wrong. entropy itself ensures the impossibility of an eternal utopia. there will always be fascism, because it's branded in the back of every living thing's head and it'll never go away. it just doesn't come to the surface when there's no reason for it to.

These compass tests need a third axis; scale. The questions are often framed as how much should the government regulate the market, how much should we put the brakes onto globalisation, etc. Some worldviews would express that the scale of the thing is the problem and that we should focus on our own town, tribe, county, whatever. That is not anti-authoritarian in and of itself. Some tribal governments and Christian isolationist communities have been ruthlessly authoritarian for example but were tiny, self contained dictatorships. They would be low on the scale axis, high on the authority one. A communal farm with equal distribution and direct democracy would score low on the scale axis. So would the "git off m'land" libertarians. Meanwhile Joe Stalin and modern neo-liberals would both score high. Both want large systems covering a huge area and millions of people, however different those systems are along the other axes.

>>3426 they're probably made to show fastly your political stance to others, like we are doing now. Obviously this is silly cause people have different opinions on different things and don't follow test categories. At least is interesting to know if a place tends to be more populated by leftists or rightists (can you say rightist in engrish? I never read it but it seems logical) and how much radical they are. The only problem is that on anonymus imageboards, in particular nowadays that it is full of alt-right trolls everywhere, someone can selfpost a lot of test results with little differences to pretend "they" are more than one. Anyway i don't think this is happening here now.

>>3337 But the PRC is a republic. It's just a one party republic with a strong authoritarian overtone, whose party itself is divided in various factions with different political ideas and interest both on a regional and national level. The president doesn't have limitless power either, he is still elected with a limit of 2 consecutive terms and is accountable towards the party, and to lesser extent the Chinese people. The lack of universal suffrage and open direct democracy doesn't make them less of a republic. Though apparently they have open election on the lower level of representatives (such as Local People's Congress or something like that), and on some occasion dissidents get elected, but the candidates are, outside of unusual cases, selected by the party, and they hardly matters. The rest of the elections and appointments are indirect and made by the National Congress, or Local Congress, which ensure that everything fall under the control of the Party. On an side note, although I've stated that the PRC is a one party republic, it is far from the truth. The CCP does allow the existence of other parties so long as they don't challenge the power of the CCP. It is believed that they serve as an honeypot for the political police. Interestingly, in the recent years, two Maoist reactionary parties have been derezzed.

Special Agent Bob · 2017-06-25 18:10
>>3577 Mutualism is a very general term. Syndicalists believe specifically in a structured future society built by unions currently existing in present society. As the workers movement grows in power, it assumes the social services and public works currently controlled by government until the movement is strong enough to get rid of the government (possibly with a bloody insurgency at some point). After the revolution, the local workers control only the factories, shops and fields they directly work in without any central leadership somewhere else, while maintaining a horizontal federation of autonomous groups of workers elsewhere. You can't be a syndicalist without being a mutualist but there are forms of mutualism that aren't syndicalist. If your mutual aid based community doesn't join the larger federation, you wouldn't be a syndicalist. Look at the root word "syndical" kinda like "syndicate".

Hmm, political compass thing kinda got me off guard. I never would expect that I could end up in authoritarian left. My views on society are very conservative. I won't brag about immigrants, muslims and the denial of traditional values becacuse you've probably heard a lot about it. My views on economy are pretty mixed. I see the importance of free market and private business but I also think that some areas of economy should be heavily regulated and maybe even nationalized. Pretty funny because I actually used to be an anarchocapitalist. I still think that it's a pretty noble idea but it would quickly fail. Paradoxically, the free market could fall without the government regulations because of the monopolies. Civil liberties are important for me. They differ a free person from a slave. The only exception is when these liberties are used in a way that could potentially endanger our way of life, that is our culture, values or civil liberties themself, no matter if it's being done by the government or a group of people. My ideal form of government would be a constitutional monarchy or a dictatorship. I am for a strong government but not a totalitarian one.

>>4252 Another neat one. I could play with the tax sliders all day, but this is the general idea. Trying to keep public services well-funded while encouraging the free flow of wealth is pretty difficult. As if it needs to be said. Gun control is an interesting area I'd like to spend a second talking about. Overall, I support the general populace being able to own guns provided they receive appropriate safety training. However, an argument was made to me some time ago that having freely available guns means law enforcement officers are forced to assume others may be armed and dangerous. This impacts everyone's safety. Consequently, I've come to support a gun registry compromise that allows people to own guns at the cost of bearing that assumption but mitigates the effect on non-owners. It's one of a few places where I'm willing to push into tracking your average person for the sake of security, a topic very relevant to the subject matter of this website.

There is a great deal of sympathy shown for the ordinary refugees in Standalone Complex as well, even though a tiny few of their community are resorting to terrorism. That sort of nuance is something authoritarians aren't known for. Regardless, fiction depicting an authoritarian future is rarely promoting it; pro-authority fiction would probably show the evils of liberal values run rampant.
Agent Jones · 2017-08-28 17:34
>>5184 Maybe they take a look at the crony-capitalism and morally bankrupt universes that last two you mention depict? Perhaps they're not twelve years old, live in the real world, and don't want to see those crummy trash-laden futures come to fruition? One can enjoy fiction without desiring the world depicted within to be reality. Perhaps your perspective is different than that, and you imagine that the future GITS depicts is akin to the way a national-socialist state would function? If so you're vastly underexposed to the topic at hand, to put it politely. National socialism is associated with traditional values and strengthening the nation/volk. People in a Nazi state would focus on the well-being of their family and neighbors, their would be little to no slums tolerated even among the poor, and the economic ladder would be as fluid as possible so as to benefit "the volk" by placing everyone in their most effecient position. Freedom would exist insofar that one does not engage in morally-bankrupt behaviour. Mind you I'm not a Nazi, but you either didn't think through what you were saying at first or you don't understand what you're talking about. Not liking an ideology is entirely different than not understanding it.
BloodCat · 2017-08-28 17:42
>>5207 I wanted to include this bit in the other post, but it turns into another topic, so I'll put it in it's own form as a reply. It's highly doubtful any of the people on here advocating german-tier national socialism (with swasitikas and all) actually want to bring their 'ideology' to light, or that they even fully understand it. These idiots even use the flag, color-scheme and all, of a foreign dead nation which is believed by "the volk" of every modern country to be the incarnation of evil. Like-wise the same is true for the so-called "socialists," who give such a vague description of their ideology, that anything that involves government-institutions providing for the benefit of "the people" is deemed socialist. Yet somehow it should be especially noted for them that national-socialism isn't really socialism because their feelings dictate that must be the case. You can, with a little thought, probably understand why the hard-communists are retarded by looking at all the fragmenting of, and furthermore they're excuses for, their ideology. The use of the hammer-and-sickle is one-hundred-perecent akin to the nazi's use of the swastika in how fuarrrking retarded someone would need to be to use it in the modern west. Someone who forms real meaningful political thought does so about individual issues that can benefit themselves, their family, and their nation the most. From there, what one should do is find, or form, a political force that pushes to help people by enacting those solutions. What one should not do is fall into pre-conceived, ineptly-packaged, world views either created to deceive you by malicious actors or by charismatic fools. Examples for why total ideological adoption is bad: -Modern, western, socialists nowadays illogically advocate open-borders likely due to being subversed. Their country is inevitably flooded to the detriment of it's original people. -Modern, western, communists advocate for the government to protect freedoms such as speech by cannot come up with a solid real-world definition for these freedoms that are not dictated by their feelings and world-view. This essentially thus amounts to theocracy. -Modern, western, nazis believe they'll attract a following by condemning and hating everyone who doesn't think or look like them. Those who suggest otherwise are hit with "muh PR" memes.

Tequila · 2017-08-28 21:16
>>5209 There were two optional meanings I could discern by someone making that statement in this context: 1. You can't enjoy cyberpunk fiction if you're a nazi because nazism doesn't fit into the cyberpunk paradigm. 2. People with authoritarian ideologies can't like cyberpunk fiction due to most works depicting authority (in either the from of the government or private enterprise) as a corrupt force that ruins society. Obviously that line is in reference to option two. Akin means sharing similar qualities in reference to something else, the qualities shared would in this case be authoritarianism in both the fictional stories (depicted as bad) and in the nazi ideology (depicted as good).
Tequila · 2017-08-28 21:59
>>5210 The problem may simply lie in the fact that you guys have come up with next to zero fiction of your own that's actually worth reading or watching and have to force some interpretation of your own onto existing narratives. Sipho Nkosi · 2017-08-31 01:18
>>5211 As stated in my post, I'm not a nazi. I however was not keen on the statement "i can't really figure out a nazi appreciating [cyber punk fiction]." Mostly because this line of thought reveals a mindset of "If you're not from my list of approved political- and world-views, in no possible way could you appreciate cyberpunk literature. You can only really enjoy what I enjoy if you derive and understand the same things I do from it." Trying to universalize your view of the universe is beyond retarded, and it seems like, ironically, in our information-based age it's become even more common than in the past. Although not a nazi, if I were to take up the role of devil's advocate here, I'd say pretty accurately that you just blatantly moved the goal post. This especially becomes apparent when you consider that plenty of cyberpunk fiction has little to do with political themes. Most of the messaging is often philosophical such as questioning the seperation between man and machine, what is true sentience and consciousness, or the existence of the soul. Sometimes there really isn't any messaging aside from what you take away from the story yourself.

i dont really like the 8values either. beyond the sometimes loaded questions, i disagree with the choice of labels. >equality/markets too much overlap with liberty/authority. also, they're not really opposites. recommend centralized/decentralized or populist/<whatever the opposite concept is> instead. i know the "economic axis" is pretty universal with these things, but i do think that you could do away with it and make it more general. that way this axis represents only the amount of input that the public has, with the question of how much you actually have to listen to the government handled by the liberty/authority axis. >nation/world this one's fine if you play loose with the definitions of nation and world. the concept would be better expressed as the size of the sovereign unit, with "the individual" on one end, and "world government" or something on the other. that way you can more meaningfully reflect, for instance, a person's preference for federated city-states vs. larger republics. >liberty/authority i wouldn't mess with this one. it's pretty well established what the two concepts represent. just be careful with the weighting of the questions. two people who want "the same amount of laws" (roughly speaking) should get the same score on this axis whether the laws are written by popular vote or by a king. the question of king vs. democracy is handled by the first axis. >tradition/progress i don't like this one at all. they aren't even close to being opposites, and i don't know anyone who is against "progress" in the abstract. most people have very different stances per issue based on whether or not they believe the tradition in question is a good one. if you did want to keep it, the question should be more about how progress should be made: through adherence to or rejection of tradition. i can't come up with a catchy name for this, but i guess it's kind of a tradition/"modernism" axis. the main thing missing here is "equality", and it's actually a tough one to put on an axis. you could frame it in terms of equal opportunity vs. equal outcome, but that's a much more narrow concern than the others. equality/meritocracy might also work. the main problem there is that it can't differentiate between people who believe that equal opportunity is required for true meritocracy, and people that factor in the "merit" of your ancestor's work and would take a more hands-off approach. i'd probably throw out the concept entirely and replace it with an individualist/collectivist axis.

Most political tests are soykaf because they're as broad as possible while presenting preconceived dualities. People say 8values is good but the "equality - markets" duality irks me, it's stuck in the Enlightenment era because that duality excludes discrimination based on hierarchy rooted in tradition and instead presents the two flawed choices of either full egalitarianism or full meritocracy. I recommend Politiscales, it's comprehensive and the creators seem to know their stuff. Pictures related. http://www.politiscales.net (I've fuarrrked up this post and deleted this twice now, this is why I never fuarrrking phonepost)

>>7206 This is definitely much better than 8values.
Agent Jones · 2018-03-16 05:41
>>7206 Also, I think you ancoms should look into Jünger's Anarch, National Anarchisn or Evola's Ride The Tiger or something. I have no idea how you can be egalitarian at all when time and time again, we're proven that the lowest common denominator is the one that allows our world to slip into a cyberpunk dystopia. People who just want to party, who are hooked onto their social media and who are completely subsumed into the modern culture of rootless consumerism are somehow just as equal as the average lainon? These people need an educated Brahmin caste to rule over them, and that had been the case for thousands of years until the European nobility had degenerated so much that the rabble got the idea that they needed to be disposed of. The first step towards our much feared cyberpunk dystopia is the notion that someone can be an international global citizen of the Earth who is just a person and nothing else. No faith, no tradition going back hundreds of years, it's just you, the present and your bourgeois indulgence in trinkets. Essential ethnic traditions are sacrificed at the stake for mindless hedonism, and once people are nothing but cogs they can easily be used by capitalists for profit, because a sense of maintaining tradition in spite of such temptations is gone. I don't know what else to say. Don't be mistaken, it's not just the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, the priestly caste and soldierly caste also used to exist above the bourgeoisie. The bourgeoisie used the riled up proletariat to dispose of the (inarguably already defective) nobles and clergy and installed themselves at the top instead in the French Revolution. Now the proletariat will dispose of the bourgeoisie, and what comes after? The proletariat will go too, they will dispose of each other and the cycle of history can be completed. Hopefully this perspective will at least create doubt in those who weren't aware of such an idea already. I also don't get how you're against capitalism when the entire ideology of communism is based around the concern of who gets to control the capital. It's like how Satanists are against Christianity even though they lock themselves into the Abrahamic canon - it's seemingly very short sighted and reactionary (as in reacting, not the Right) more than anything.

>>7206 Definitely a more interesting test compared to 8values, results attached... Don't know anything about politics yet besides having some /cyb/ opinions, so far a centralist economically, still reading and ready to change my position in the future. >>7208 >our much feared cyberpunk dystopia This phrase inspirited me to talk something about /cyb/. It's hard to fit into the boards because /cyb/ has disappeared and this is neither politics nor technology, feel free to completely ignore it... I was once accepted mainstream liberal's general idea of "an open Internet" and this idea has led me to world of Free and Open Source besides technical reasons and personal interests, and soon found the "open Internet" are empty words by itself by the corporations and governments for their interests, the hackers from GNU, FOSS are the real promoters, and started to find out the idea such as "anarchy" and "transhumanism" was an actual thing, but in fact at this stage I still didn't really understand the context of it at this point. After Snowden I suddenly found why there are so many things went wrong.... And I started reading about early computing history traced to the 60s counterculture, civil rights movement, new left, 70s influences of libertarianism, personal computer revolution, and Whole Earth, formation of hacker culture, 80s cyberpunk, free software foundation, and 90s Electronic Frontier Foundation, Barlow's Declaration of Independence, cypherpunks and cryptowars, etc... A wonderful experience of exploration, and it has answerd most of my questions. And I currently think the nowadays problems of the Internet is simple. Many of the evils from the Silicon Valley hey disguised themselves as "californian ideologists" with the an promising outlook of the Internet and made themselves as the people who are working towards of the ideals by all of these movements in the past, but unfortunately what they actually did was completely an another story. They did not work for the Internet but created the New Internet Order after the rise of WWW. Today I am found the many ideas from the Wired Magazine and general "californian ideology" interesting, and luckily to some extents, after Snowden the cryptowar has came back and it might be a great opportunity to partially decentralize the system from the WWW empires yet again. And finally led me to this place. BTW, I think the "cyberpunk dystopia" is natural paradigm shift from one system to another. easily visible by looking at the role of Big Brother being taken from governments to corporations. I welcome it from a historical perspective, late-capitalism, early cyberpunk.
Mentat · 2018-03-16 07:39
>>7209 >I welcome it from a historical perspective, late-capitalism, early cyberpunk. After much deliberation, I welcome it too. History is cyclical and it's pointless to go against time, the only way a traditionalist world can appear again is through a cleansing, and the quickest way to such a cleansing is through acceleration. Make everyone equal, let those savages in, a brief spark of hedonistic self pleasure before everything falls into chaos which itself has a purifying element. I think Nick Land writes about this, but I haven't read anything by him yet, even though I should have.

>>7208 Sorry if this is a bit excessive, but I thought of another thing. How do anti-capitalist ancoms who see technological megacorps as a threat reconcile the fact that Google, the epitome of a nefarious megacorporation, has gone extremely left wing in the past few years? And how do you explain the establishment main stream media completely supporting their case against "stomping out extremism"? They're clearly not motivated by profits from virtue signalling anymore, what they're doing on YouTube is far too much, normal customers are fuarrrking pissed with losing their ads, and yet they persist fully. They, the actual establishment corporations together with the media, are branding even centre right stuff as violent far right extremist content that must rightfully be shut down. Just this week it was revealed that they're excluding Asian and White men when hiring in favour of "people who have been historically persecuted", and that (a bit hideous) guy got fired for even criticising their attitude towards men a few months ago. Silicon Valley is literally becoming a hub of progressive egalitarian politics when it comes to social issues, and they're far more left than the average American. This isn't motivated by profits anymore, they're actively putting aside financial benefit and product efficiency in favour of these politics. Jordan Peterson who sells the most broilerplate 90s Bill Clinton soykaf and who's only good at sounding pleasant is as extreme as the fuarrrking KKK according to Google. Even from personal experience, a friend of mine made an ironic rap song in 10 minutes where he says fuarrrk women and how they're whores, he got maybe 500 views. Removed in 24 hours for hate speech and all appeals were denied. This is utterly ridiculous. And how do you respond to the influx of right wingers to alt-tech? Sites like Bitchute and DTube (which is IPFS based) are having an influx of right wing users who are at threat of being pushed off the platform. They're demanding the government to regulate internet freedom and to guarantee free speech on private platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Outright communists can stay on YouTube and Facebook all they want mostly, it's the Right that's being forced to use solutions that oppose big tech. Oh, and the online campaigns that leftists run. If a content creator or even a single person is right wing, at least a huge part of people sympathetic to communism go for the route where they email hundreds of corporations how the person they're against is an awful bigot who must be swiftly embargoed. Using capital with no second thoughts like this is not in conflict with your ideology at all? Forgive me for typing up so much sludge so quickly, I have never had a civil conversation with staunch ancoms but I have hope in lainons so I got really into it.

>>7218 > the fact that Google, the epitome of a nefarious megacorporation, has gone extremely left wing Appearances. Capitalism tends to co-opt notions in vogue in order to appear docile and friendly. They hold those views insofar as it serves their bottom line. > what they're doing on YouTube is far too much this is advertiser pressure above and beyond any internal logic. Advertising again is about appearances, and good appearances are to follow the flow of societal pressure - in this case virtue signally me-too, BLM, etc. >They, the actual establishment corporations together with the media, are branding even centre right stuff as violent far right extremist content that must rightfully be shut down. Supply and demand. > Silicon Valley is literally becoming a hub of progressive egalitarian politics when it comes to social issues It's all appearances. There's a significant homeless problem in the Bay Area where much of these technology companies reside, and you'd guess their egalitarian drive would send them on a mission to restore these people to homes and a well-fed lifestyle; it hasn't happened since appearances don't actually perform *deeds*. > Removed in 24 hours for hate speech and all appeals were denied People report the video; this says more about the zeitgeist of the viewership above and beyond the content of any particular youtube policy. > it's the Right that's being forced to use solutions that oppose big tech This again, is a response to the demands of a population of people above and beyond any internally driven policy. Companies do what gets them paid - and in this case pandering to an over-sensitive audience and advertisers is what's paying the bills. > Using capital with no second thoughts like this is not in conflict with your ideology at all? In order to exist within a given system, you are forced to utilize the tools that system provides. There's very little one can do to exact change from "outside" a system (ie. without capital in a capitalist world). > Forgive me for typing up so much sludge so quickly, I have never had a civil conversation with staunch ancoms but I have hope in lainons so I got really into it. No soykaf. More importantly, nobody has the resources and inclination to come after us with anything but the most automated of tactics. An imageboard of at the most 1000 people who aren't politically active or otherwise a particular threat or asset is a very low priority target. Then there's the fact that the data is being presented as images making it more difficult to process. Not only is it not worth anyone's time, it's a mile away from it. >But even then, can you honestly say you knew when you interacted with someone who socially engineered you into acting a certain way compared to someone who you simply had an honest interaction with? What's the difference? If someone comes up to me and says "Hey, do you want to go swimming with me?" and I agree, was that an honest interaction or social engineering? He went into it with the aim of getting me to do something but then maybe I just wanted to go swimming. The trick to not being manipulated is not losing sight of your goals. Then, even if you are pushed towards something, it's something that furthers your own goals as well.

>>7231 If you have no priors as to the probability of the activity, the likelihood of it being true is equal to any other activity that you have no priors of. The set of all statements that you have no prior of is unbounded and thus nonsensical for understanding a threat model.

I can't be bothered doing the political compass test as it is biased nonsense in that it puts almost everyone with non-extreme views in the libertarian left quadrant (although that is where I actually belong) while claiming almost all mainstream politicians are well into the authoritarian right quadrant. The 8values test gave me Libertarian Socialist which is what I'd consider myself anyway so it worked for me, although I dislike how loaded some of the questions are. There seems to be reasonable variety in this thread (besides for the obvious favoritism towards liberty and progress) so it looks less to possibly be less biased although I'd like to see results from other communities as well.

I'm a nationalist in the political science sense (a country has the right to self-determination), as opposed to a xenophobe who just doesn't want to deal with foreigners. I'm also probably slightly more of an essentialist than the results show. The results say I lean more towards communism than Capitalism but It's probably the reverse.
