I Just wanted to say I love this community and I'm really glad I found out about it as well as SEL, apparently it's even gonna be more active, so that will be great. So this thread isn't pointless, tell me about how you've been felling last week, lainons
Lain Iwakura · 2017-05-23 05:43
Horrible, i always feel horrible. But i got a few job interviews, i don't think i'll get any of them but at least it's something. And welcome, Lain.

>>2799 What kind of jobs have you been applying to?
John Titor · 2017-05-23 18:56
>>2799 Just believe in yourself Lain! I know you'll get the job!

This will make me sound like a dick, saying all this in front of people who are currently unemployed, but I feel like my job is the most pointless and infuriating thing in the world and I wish they would just goddamn fire me. "Good morning anon!" "Hello there, guy who's supposed to give me guidance and help me learn programming! Can you finally give me something to do in a real fukken programming language?" "Lol, nope! I'll be over here doing real work in visual studio while you get to fix ancient bugs in this putrid, eye-melting, soul-crushing application-specific meta language, complete with myriad operators that execute in arbitrary order, invisible background shenanigans for database queries that we will never properly explain to you and absolutely no OOP features. So here's your bullsoykaf problem for today: margaret thatcher over there wants to print out working hours for this contract over here, in this nifty form someone made ten years ago, but all the data got displayed on the form twice in a row. Have fun!" And then I spent plenty of working hours looking at this eldritch mess of a homegrown scripting language, used by three people in the entire world, understood by no one. Trying to figure out why the exact same soykaf gets printed twice, despite all the conditions and safety checks in the script that make sure you don't dredge up the same soykaf from the database twice. Then I looked at the contract in the application. I looked at the contract task number, and at the "linked task" field right next to it, and it's the same goddamn number. The contract was pointing to itself. So that's when I decided that all neoliberal baby boomers need to be guillotined. In a fire. Thanks for listening.

>>2821 this sounds very similar to a job i got stuck in for years where they used an in-house language too only advice i can give is get the fuarrrk out, seriously the skills of using such a language are non-transferable and your company will know it - the company i worked for took advantage of this fact to keep hundreds of employees there thankfully i mostly worked on C++ soykaf including the interpreter for the language, but that was miserable too (ancient awful code) felt so fuarrrking good when i left

My new job has been making it much harder to do hobbies I actually enjoy, not complaining a lot. I just find it disappointing.
Project 2501 · 2017-05-24 08:21
Weeks been terrible, depression came up in massive force so been pretty burnt out because of that. Found a girl who's been a massive help though, so things are starting to look up again
Unidentified · 2017-05-24 21:00
>>2825 Thanks for the advice anon. I'll think about picking the right time to run away screaming.
Vasya Pupkin · 2017-05-24 21:06
>>2828 Sounds pretty cool that you found someone willing to help you through tough times. Maybe you can watch some shows together, simple things like that. Supposedly, enjoying entertainment in good company will bring more genuine relaxation than solo distractions.
Lady Jessica · 2017-05-26 02:03
I hate my job. Im so stressed that at any given moment I rubber band between violent outbursts and being on the verge of tears. The only things holding me together are my dog, alcohol and this stupid lain radio station. I want to drown myself in cyber soykaf but I cant find anything suitable.
Terzibashjian · 2017-06-29 22:27
>>2826 ditto here. My job is alright, the people are great, but between job, gf, and friends I feel like I have no time for my hobbies anymore.
Molly Millions · 2017-06-30 08:00
I've actually been having a fairly decent week. I ate, slept, cleaned and read. I feel like I should improve myself and start actually investing in my art and make that comic book I've been thinking about. ...I think it might be bad that a good week for me is eating, sleeping, cleaining and reading.
Hagbard Celine · 2017-06-30 16:09
quite comfy, i have good friends, it's summer and i have nothing to do. Thanks for asking!

I've been okay, I've been swinging back and forth a lot in my emotions, from casually depressed to content and back in the matter of a couple hours. The world is such a big place, and there is so much information, and so many people; this is old news, I know, it's obvious stuff, boring stuff, immature existential angst. This is the thought that informs this post, at times I find it hard to type these words, because of the innumerable number of ways in which ... do I have free will? If I do, then there are so many options, if not, then I guess this post is pointless, just entropy. And you, you, person who is reading this right now, who the hell are you? See, this is what I'm talking about. You. You exist. That's really hard for me right now. It causes me many emotions and thoughts. Here is where I wrote a paragraph trying to explain those thoughts, and then erased it because it didn't read correctly. I miss a particular person in my life. I go and look at the ocean almost every day, and think about them in some degree, not as an obsession, but as a ... point to work from, informing my perception of everything else in the world. Of course, it isn't that person, I barely knew that person; I miss an idealized form of them that I had in my head when our lives were in contact. I'll never see them or speak to them again. But hell, for all I know, it's you. Isn't that nice? My week has been fine. Just another week. I'll see you later. I hope you are well.
Just another Random Lainon · 2017-07-07 16:27
I don't feel anything. It's very difficult for me to understand my emotions.

>>2798 Had a pretty chill week. Trying to learn electron microscopy. >>2922 I was in this situation minus the dog for 3 years. The best advice I can give you is to walk. I left my job with no work and though I have next to no money now, I've managed to land something starting September.
Incognito · 2017-07-07 20:04
My past month was horrible. Broke up with a girl I wanted to marry (we were 4 years together). I wanted to cease my existence. Still do, but it's pointless, so I'm still here. Anyways, trying to improve my life quality. Recently made my first piratebox with zsun wifi adapter, pretty nice. Want to learn more about electronics and improve my programming knowledge (gonna go through SICP). I'm new to lain too, so far this is my favorite place on the net.

I really don't know how I am anymore I spent 3.5 months at psychiatry because of my disease since January and managed to get better at life thanks to that. Now I feel like I'm coming back to my old suicidal self that just locks himself at home playing vidya and watching stupid soykaf on Youtube all day long. I have a job, I have my own place to stay at and I have a girlfriend who is a massive help for me. I should be fuarrrking happy right now, yet I'm not. The hell is wrong with me

>>3868 what games you play? Is your girlfriend OK with that? I am living a decent week, I can't be much personal becouse maybe someone who I know browses here. I will go camping with my gf in a matter of days, with my family and then we will go to the house of.her family, outside of the city we live in. There is someone who I think about often, but I know zhe (neutral pronoun?) is actually outside of my world but maybe we will meet someday somewhere. I am trying to build a game for android and learning C, it doesn't seem to work. Please highlight the mistakes I did with English, if you have time to waste.

If you have time, please highlight any mistakes in my English. tl;dr Everything you wrote is understandable, but the grammar is a little off and parts come out a little wordier than they should. You'll get better as you read, write, talk, and listen to more English.

>>3876 >I am trying to build a game for android and learning C, it doesn't seem to work. I would recommend using Dartlang for android app development. Dart isn't as universal as C but its a higher level language so its easier and faster to learn and deploy. Just a suggestion :) https://www.dartlang.org/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dart_%28programming_language%29
