Haven't seen it talked about much, but if I recall correctly I think the Lainzine touches on it a bit and I generally think it's something that fits in a culture of underground livin'/resistance to capitalism and all that. /cyb/ soykaf
What's the best you've found? Are there spots you commonly hit?
The walmart nearby my place has a giant dumpster dedicated to fruits and vegetables only and I go on the first day after the trash truck comes, so I usually end up with 5-10+ lbs of fruits and veggies for free, mostly clean and in good health.

my dumpster diving hobby is a bit different from the more common pragmatic approach of finding discarded foodstuff and other commercial waste. i find old tech and either disassemble it for parts or fun, or fix it up if it could be useful, or simply keep it if it fits into any of my collections (thinkpads, vidya, apple hardware, pdas)
>Are there spots you commonly hit?
my town has a recycling center that i hit up once a week or every other week, pics related. all electronics used to go into the scrap heap but there's a separate bin for e-waste now that's much better. back when i was in school there was a bin for old electronics in a computer lab that was a fuarrrking goldmine.
>What's the best you've found?
in the past year or so the best things i've found were:
- 11inch mba that had something spilled on the keyboard, ordered a replacement kb for 25 bucks and the right screwdriver, now my mom has a nice cheap netbook.
- commodore 64
- ps3 slim with busted hard drive, popped in a spare 2.5 hdd and it works good as new, finding it meant i had acquired all gen 7 consoles from the dump and gotten them to work : )
- wii + some games, probably the most common console that gets tossed in perfectly working condition, traded in to gamestop for ~50$ in credit, basically free money
