Thanks mod for what you've done in /lambda/ Talking about those attacks, are they made by tor exit nodes or regular IPs? do they get derezzed? pic unrelated and it's soykafpost so spoiler

It's comforting to receive something that isn't blind hatred. I appreciate it. A disgruntled user made the posts over Tor, yes. Don't worry though, we'll probably have the threads knocked off the end restored from backups soon, and I've already proposed some mechanical policy to prevent this from happening in the future.

>>9150 ## mod isn't in your name, why?
λx.x · 2020-11-10 06:18
>>9156 I didn't care to login at the time purely to make that post.

The mods are fantastic. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be able to write this post on tor w/ no js

>>9150 >blind hatred So it's blind hatred when we ask you why you do your job like you do? Also, I'm kinda disappoinred you didn't delete my pony post.

What a bore. I've been so busy with my work and other things that I've barely been able to even use /λ/ lately. There are posts I've wanted to write for weeks, but my quality standards have prevented me from yet taking the time to do so. Worse, /λ/ is a board heavily focussed around projects, and it's difficult to discuss intimate details of more esoteric work and maintain even pseudonymity, so there are several threads where my choices are leaving them to languish, making more vapid posts than I could, or effectively spamming my work in it, because few others are interested by the topic, or have as much to write as I. >>9226 >So it's blind hatred when we ask you why you do your job like you do? It seems fair to call someone spending two hours spamming my board with gore and feces blind hatred, yes. I understand that it's fun to criticize the staff, I didn't like the 4chan staff when I posted there, but moderating an anonymous imageboard for over five years has made me more sympathetic towards them. >Also, I'm kinda disappoinred you didn't delete my pony post. I won't blink; I decided to leave that specifically to see if someone would complain about it. It's the manner of post which has to be entirely deleted, since it's pointless without its image. I've been keeping track of everything in /λ/ for years, so it may be found interesting I believe that may be the first pony image ever posted in it. On the topic of mostly irrelevant images, I'm going to allow the furry who found his website mentioned here to keep the image attached to his post, since it's slightly relevant. I'll probably delete it later, but I'm also just significantly more hostile towards the more infectious forms of irrelevancy. Look at that pony post; no one has even responded to it. Meanwhile, if I don't beat down people who post their anime girls, they'll do it every damn post, and eventually tell people who don't like it to leave, and how everyone who likes programming must like anime; this started happening recently, with someone posting them every post in a thread, and then others started taking the time to remark on how nice it is anime girls were being allowed, and posting more. No one seriously argues anyone who likes programming must like My Little Pony. In contrast, part of why I grew to despise 4chan's /g/, and part of why I instated the relevancy rules here, is because anyone who complained about only wanting to discuss actual technology would be told to leave over there; look at 4chan's /g/ now, some fool gained power and keeps spamming his demonic waifu over there; the inmate now runs the asylum. Anyway, I've complained enough. I'm curious as to what any of you think, regarding discussing work. I really am reluctant to share my work in several threads, even if it's relevant, because I could so easily overwhelm a discussion if I weren't, just because I'm more enthusiastic.

>>9232 >I was the first pony poster in /λ/, ever Cool, do you think I can get a medal? Perhaps have my name show up like yours, except instead of Mod it says ## First pony poster of λ. I would appreciate it. And Yes, I would be interested in seeing what you are working on, not because of who you are particularly, but because I like to see what people are doing. It also reinforces my imposter syndrome. I really always thought you were the verosimilitudes guy, I've always been under the impression that there is a grand total of One serious programmer in the board. No kidding.
λx.x · 2020-11-24 06:53
I deleted the furry's image, since a second one was posted and the thread had some arguing over this, but the posts themselves have been left for now. >>9241 >Cool, do you think I can get a medal? I'd suggest the ## joke capcode, but I don't recall offhand how to use it. >It also reinforces my imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is such a silly meme, at least for some. I never question myself. If holding any programming ability whatsoever, don't doubt it, but merely seek to improve it. >I really always thought you were the verosimilitudes guy That's correct. My website is http://verisimilitudes.net and my Gopher hole is gopher://verisimilitudes.net . >I've always been under the impression that there is a grand total of One serious programmer in the board. No kidding. This lone serious programmer being referenced is me? While I do think I'm clearly one of the better programmers on this node of the network, there are several other good programmers who use /λ/, so I wouldn't recommend discounting them.

How does it feel that despite your best efforts even you cannot stop the imminent degradation of /λ/?
λx.x · 2021-02-28 01:19
>>9830 I don't understand the question, not seeing such. If needed, my moderation will simply become increasingly aggressive.

I'd also like to drop thanks for allowing tor postings and not banning them because of this idiot. It's nice to be able to share myself online truly anonymously and I'm very thankful you guys continue to allow it even in spite of the issues it causes.
