pls help
Has anyone installed a lainchan instance? If so what version of mysql did you use?
It always throws me: 'The server requested authentication method unknown to the client'
I just don't get it i have been about 12 hours stuck trying alternatives, my last chance is Lainchan uses 'mysql_old_password' which is basically un-hashed passwords but i don't think thats true

Now that i think about it it may make sense, in Github they recommend MySQL 5.5.3 and mysql_old_password got removed on MySQL 5.7.5, but isn't that insecure as fuarrrk? even mysql_native_password isn't recommended anymore tf

E.g. Your are using MySQL 8, and haven't set default authentication plugin to mysql_native_password

i swear i did, multiple times, but going to try again, thanks atleast now i know it uses mysql_native_password!

They should be automatic, however some changes may require rebuild from the Dashboard.
