Is the irc down for everyone or just me?

The KiwiIRC integration has been broken for some time now, because we are not registered with their special service, I will look at either fixing it or replacing it over Christmas.
Using a regular client works.

Web IRC should work now using the online client either from https://lainchan.org/irc.html or https://lainchan.org/irc/ .
Apologies for the delay in restoring its service.

The web client works just fine for me, but I keep getting disconnected in HexChat. Any idea why? What am I doing wrong?

Try enabling SSL

Oh, that works. Thanks

I'm getting this error:
> Connection failed (certificate has expired.? (10))
Does this mean I need to renew my ssl certificate? If so how do I do that?

No, it means lainchan's certs expired, Appleman should renew it. I don't know why your irc client automatically aborts the connection, you can usually just ignore the warning and connect to the server anyway.

Thanks. I am using Hexchat and I just enabled the "accept invalid SSL certificates" option for Lainchan

...which resolved the issue

Lainchan's certs are autorenewed with LetsEncrypt.
However they are not yet automatically reloaded into memory in the IRC server. If you trust me you can connect to the IRC server, knowing that the new certificates are only a /reload -ssl away.
If you don't trust me, then you can wait until I run /reload -ssl to load the non expired certificates into the IRC server's memory.
