Is there anything we can do to increase transparency of mod actions to users? Like a board with deleted posts/threads and reasons why it was deleted.
Actually, backup for a sec, do mods even have any insight into what other mods are doing in the first place?
Because it seems like half the lainchan mods are just deleting posts at random.
It would be nice if they actually had to spend 5 seconds justifying it.
Because constantly having posts just vanishing from one day to the next with no explanation is annoying.
What are you even trying to archive? If people don't know why their post was deleted they're just going to continue.
Or is this whole cyberpunk theme just ironic and arbitrary censorship is the actual point of the chan?

Deleted posts are deleted. There are already moderation internal logs of deleted posts and other administrative actions. Most of the deleted posts are annotated with reasons for the deletion in this system. Staff have insight into what other actions staff take.
The main reason these are not public is that deleted needs to remain deleted, especially when dealing with illicit material and spam.
Your assumption about deletion at random is incorrect. We spend more than 5 seconds justifying it, but you don't see that justification.
I assume you meant to type achieve and not archive, because /archive/ is for archiving quality threads that for some reason or another are requested to be preserved or restored from backups.
As per the rules and prior discussion, we are trying to achieve quality discourse. We have tried leaving posts and threads up and placing less focus on Rule 1 . If you break the rules we will delete your post. Do it repeatedly and you'll be derezzed. , in the past.
But that just lead to multiple threads being derailed or being spammed, and the warnings given (either blue soft warnings, or red hard warnings with bans) being ignored.
People currently learn why their post was deleted by either asking on /q/ or reading the rules, or the warning system which does get used.
As for your last question, I don't really understand it, the FAQ entry on What is the purpose of Lainchan ? partially answers it, but I don't see what cyberpunk has to with systems transparency and where information control and its impact wasn't a central theme of cyberpunk discourse.
I don't believe that there is censorship on Lainchan that is arbitrary.
All of the rules that get invoked when deleting a post are documented, for example
You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf.
Don't respond with aggression to perceived flames or trolls (or at all.)
Do not spam or advertise unrelated content.
Do not post child pornography or questionable 2D/3DCG/3DPG sexual depictions of children. This includes "child models".
If you must post it, spoiler any NSFW content and make sure it's relevant to the discussion.
Do not upload malicious archives.
And all of the mechanisms that prevent a post from being submitted in the first place are solely to prevent bot spam and adult service advertising.
As for your initial question, what you can do ? Well you can continue lobbying for your change in deletion workflow in this thread, or you can make another proposal, or you can submit pull requests with the features for a proposal to the project on Github.

While we're on the subject, what's with that geek-girl free code rescinded article someone keeps posting and deleting? It seems like an interesting topic for discussion, I think Appleman killed it because it was about some programming-based politics, rather than programming per se?
Maybe instead of cock fighting, you assholes could find a suitable subject to post it under that you can agree on so the rest of us can cock fight over it too?
I mean it's delicious, this could be gamergate 2: electric boogaloo.

It was originally handled without my input, but I later handled the latest reposting by deleting it. It is only tangentially related to programming and is simply being copy-pasted across imageboards; I haven't checked, but the post may be directly lifted from 8chan's /tech/, which is unacceptable.

I don't really see the value, since it's become spam. It may have been different if someone had actually written an original post for Lainchan and all of that, but that's not what occurred. It's just spam now.

I find it in poor taste to discuss particulars of posters in this manner. Fortunately, others can note that it's still being posted occasionally.
Draw from that what you will.

yeah, no problem, i was just wondering if it's a single guy or a group of people. But it's such a specific issue that it'd be weird to be a group.
Anyway, he seems to be gone now, thanks.
