Dox · 2018-09-05 10:55
Go on #questions and ask for voice. Yeah, it's retarded, why is this a thing now again?

Asked it a couple of times but I don't seem to get much of a response.

Every time I change identities or disconnect I have to ask for voice again. The setup in the IRC is not very friendly to privacy. Who ever is in charge of this please consider changing it because it's in the spirit of Lainchan.

Isn't this only for #lainchan?
That channel is like kicking dead whales down the beach anyway.

There's no way to help you because you can't even read or use your brain so good luck.

How is this setup against privacy? Whenever you need to change your identity you don't have to disclose any information about you to get voiced, since all it take is asking for voice or waiting around until someone gives you voice.
One can argue that this is convenience problem and I would agree, but it can be circumvented by registering with NickServ and asking Appleman1234 to make ChanServ automatically give you voice. This of course is against your need for privacy since it ties you to an account and so we conclude that you can't have it all. Privacy is possible, but it is not convenient and vice versa.
Changing it is not that good of an option, since then moderating the channel by filtering out unwanted users, becomes impossible without disallowing Tor access server wide. So what is more harmful to privacy? Disallowing Tor across the whole server or voicing users in a single channel?

You have to be voiced (+v) in order to talk in #lainchan. Ask for voice in #questions. Fair warning: You'll have to wait a while.
