I miss when this site was comfy, fuarrrk this world.
Batou · 2018-02-26 21:46
I still find here much more comfortable than other IBs, I like it here.
Haruyoshi · 2018-02-26 23:27
I may have not been here when this place was comfy, so you can blame me for ruining everything.
XERXES · 2018-02-26 23:39
nothing about image boards has ever been genuinely "comfy". they've always been fake and contrived comfy in the same way those "wholesome memes" bullsoykaf is "wholesome". Not having people call you a niggerglitterboy doesn't make a place comfy.
John Titor · 2018-02-27 00:10
I only came here because megachan self-destructed. I don't think this place was ever comfy.
Nobody important · 2018-02-27 07:53
>>5297 Sure it has. Sushi is comfy as fuarrrk. This place was never that comfy. There was still politics and heated arguments, but still pretty comfy at times. At the moment we seem to have a bunch of new users due to the troubles on other chans which always changes the atmosphere a little but they'll realise they need to lurk moar soon enough.
Lady Jessica · 2018-02-27 08:56
>>5299 Sushi is dead. I don't really care about heated arguments if it's discussed in a good faith and as long as I can learn something new from the other person's perspective.
William Holtzer · 2018-02-27 09:09
>>5294 If you compare this board with other present image boards you'll probably realize how comfy this board is. That being said, I think this has to do with users too. More amount of users contributes to more threads and different ideas which can sometimes result in heated arguments which in my opinion is always a good sign that someone is going to learn something.

same here, lainon. Lainchan is a shell of its former self. >>5297 >>5298 lainchan used to be pretty damn comfy. If you missed out on that, that's like kicking dead whales down the beach.
Koos van der Merwe · 2018-02-27 12:18
>>5298 this From the beginning it was just spergs c1rclejerking, then went into some kind of reform to try to fix itself by having few projects (lainzine, programming, hacking...), it all went to soykaf when kalyx started sucking the site dry. He would shut down the site and then whine about "no money for domain and servers". Idiots would give him money and he would buy macintosh or something. He usually got bored with us and simply just went off jerking his ding dong on videochats and not giving a fuarrrk. Appleman stepped in cuz everyone else just started off their own little chan because kalyx was killing the site with his ego. Now we have a sperg for owner. It was never good, but for a few brief moments that you can call those soykafty zines copy paste zines and CTFs. You are all whining about nostalgic idealized image of chan that never was. Something like when /b/tards say "omg, /b/ was better back then". You forgot how soykaf it was. /b/ was never good, and neither is lainchan.
Lord Nikon · 2018-02-27 17:58
>>5303 >He would shut down the site Never happened. Worst he did was a flashing banner. >everyone else just started off their own little chan Also never happened. Unless you mean .jp in which case you've got your order of events mixed up. >copy paste zines There's no copypasta in them. It was all written by lains. You seem to have this idea that a chan==it's owner. We're talking about the site having a comfy culture and you bring up kalyx's begging like it's relevant. Nothing could be further from the truth. The owners/mods are janitors. Most of what they do is clean up when there's a mess. The comfiness, and most other things besides, are on us. It's the community that decides the tone, not the owners.
Project 2501 · 2018-02-27 18:28
>>5304 >Never happened. Worst he did was a flashing banner. He did shut down lainchan few times for a week or few days saying he didn't have money for hosting and ebegged his way into turning it on. >Unless you mean .jp in which case you've got your order of events mixed up. There are many more than just jp. And now I havent. >There's no copypasta in them. It was all written by lains. Almost all soykaf written in there (except for art) is copypasted from somewhere else. >You seem to have this idea that a chan==it's owner I said it was mostly spergs c1rclejerking until it tried to have a reform (in which it failed). Do you have trouble reading? >We're talking about the site having a comfy culture and you bring up kalyx's begging like it's relevant. It just says a lot about the culture surrounding the website when he cold blooded squeezed you dumbos out of money, bought bunch of macsoykaf and jerked himself in videochat, no? Shouldn't the owners and leaders of community be a symbol for that community? The fact of matter is that lainchan is filled with weak minds that thought saying "idiot" was bad discussion tool. Kalyx sold them a lie of a "tech chan that is comfy" and then sucked them dry. It only shown how gullible they are. You must prove it was comfy in the first place, not keep the soykafty "muh good community" meme alive as if it's going to manifest itself into reality. As far as I see lainchan is a horrible community of spergs c1rclejerking about info not needed, saying "thank you" a lot whenever they can. That isn't comfy, that is annoying. >The owners/mods are janitors I am not going to even insult you on your intelligence, just tell you to go look up the word in the dictionary. >Most of what they do is clean up when there's a mess. "They do it for free" meme still stands, no? Isn't that the owners meme of "muh good community" coming to fruition? Meme it and they shall come! >The comfiness, and most other things besides, are on us. It's the community that decides the tone, not the owners. Ah yes, and do pray tell, what does this comfiness manifest as? Spergy 3 page diatribes? Desktop threads? Whiny arguments over semantics? Copying and pasting of what they find on stackoverflow? Sh1lling your music or your website? People repeating that this is a "comfy website"? No. If it was really comfy it would be self evident. No need to call it as such. The whiners who say "the good old days" existed from early 1800s. It is in human nature to over exaggerate the value of time you spent as a kid. This is usual ego defense mode to protect itself from acknowledging time you spent was useless. It happened to other chans, it happened to lainchan (mostly after 3 or 4 years pass, then it starts kicking in it seems). Just stop whining and stop calling it great, and instead make it great. it is kind of ironic seeing a desktop thread here when most of people running away from /g/ were running away for such reason, ricing children sharing something nobody cared about or asked for

>>5305 >He did shut down lainchan few times for a week or few days saying he didn't have money for hosting No he didn't. >There are many more than just jp Not that have anything to do with us there aren't. >Almost all soykaf written in there (except for art) is copypasted from somewhere else No. It's not. I should know I wrote some of it. >It just says a lot about the culture surrounding the website Kalyx's actions say literally nothing about the culture. >he cold blooded squeezed you dumbos out of money Were you around back in those days? Everyone knew kalyx would spend donations on whatever he pleased. It was right there on the donations page. >Shouldn't the owners and leaders of community be a symbol for that community No. This isn't a personality cult. They should clean up the mess and stay out of our way. >You must prove it was comfy in the first place I don't need to prove anything. We all saw it for ourselves. >As far as I see lainchan is a horrible community of spergs So wait. You don't like the site and yet, after what must be two or three years if we're talking about kalyx begging, you're still here? Something stinks here and it isn't the community. >"They do it for free" meme still stands, no? >still No. This isn't 4chan. We aren't going to hate on them for doing their jobs. >owners meme of "muh good community" Again with the focus on owners. Kalyx didn't push that. People just genuinely liked it. >what does this comfiness manifest as? Read the thread. It was never that comfy. Go to sushi if you like comfy. This place was mostly about the serious discussion. Sorry "3 page diatribes." If you don't like it that's fine, it's not for everyone, but then why are you still here years later? It makes no sense. What do you want? Why are you wasting your time? We (i.e. the community) built a thing that we liked and we're happy with it. If you don't like it, ok, but we're not going to suddenly change how we do things to fit your ideals of what a chan should be.
William Holtzer · 2018-02-27 19:28
>>5306 >No he didn't. He did. Just because you can't remember it doesn't mean it didn't happen. >Not that have anything to do with us there aren't. People from this chan went away and made their own. That has nothing to do with what is happening with lainchan? That says nothing about their mentality and opinions of this chan? >No. It's not. I should know I wrote some of it. Your personal experience doesn't necessisate reality. There is a reason why it's called "subjective experience" and not "objective reality". Also, I said "almost all" ALSO, I wrote some things too. >Kalyx's actions say literally nothing about the culture. Suuuuuureeee. And President of USA says nothing about USA. Or an owner of company says nothing about that company... >Everyone knew kalyx would spend donations on whatever he pleased. It was right there on the donations page. Yet he would whine about not having enough money for hosting on IRC all the time, and how he was hungry and etc.... Totally not ebegging, just "donations", as you said it. >This isn't a personality cult. Roight, roight. Or so you say. >I don't need to prove anything. We all saw it for ourselves >"it was comfy" >"no it wasn't, it's been soykafty all the long, see how soykafty spergs convos now? It's always been like this, what are you talking about? Show me one time when it was "comfy" " >"I DON'T NEED TO SHOW YOU ANYTHING" 10/10 good community and comfy feels from this discussion. You really showed me. >So wait. You don't like the site and yet, after what must be two or three years if we're talking about kalyx begging, you're still here? I like to come here and soykafpost or troll f4gs on IRC. I amuse myself with spergs like those on here. >Something stinks here and it isn't the community. I BET IT'S THE RUSSIANS >No. This isn't 4chan Touche. I actually didn't know it was 4chan seeing a lot of soykaf and autists around.... DAMN, it is lainchan. I guess I never knew how to read properly. Or you didn't know how to read? Do you even know what that meme stands for even? >jobs top kek Btw, it's not a job if you're not getting paid. >Again with the focus on owners. Kalyx didn't push that Were you here from the starts? I bet you didn't. I seen kalyx himself say on IRC that he shamelessly meme the "it's a good community, not like here" meme on /cyber/ , /g/ and /tech/. There were no former audience to say whether it was good or not, so people went with it and tried to make it into a good community kalyx memed it was. >If you don't like it, ok, but we're not going to suddenly change how we do things to fit your ideals of what a chan should be. NO NO NO. Don't wiggle your ass out of that question by side stepping it. I asked a sincere q, how is this chan "comfy"? Just saying "we're happy with it" doesn't count. Say specifically what you like about lainchan. I gave you examples of how soykaf it is, how all of you are just spergs that idolize a past that never existed and you say "sure, whatever"? What a spergy dumb cunt you are. PS Saying "no" to everything I said doesn't mean you proven me wrong dumbo. Learn on your discussion skills, dear participant of "good community". Damn, for a "good community" I sure got a soykafty conversation out of it.

>>5307 >Also, I said "almost all" it's really, really not. Like seriously, anyone can smell copypasta a mile away. It's here, for sure, but it's by no means the majority. The stuff that keeps me coming back is all OC, and there's plenty of it, especially outside of /r/, /hum/, and /tech/.
Drifter · 2018-02-27 19:53
>>5307 >He did. Just because you can't remember it doesn't mean it didn't happen. It didn't happen. I've been here, active and involved, since the very early days. >People from this chan went away and made their own. Also didn't happen. >Also, I said "almost all" Still didn't happen. Some people posted their articles to multiple places but that was the limit of it. You are just making stuff up here... >This isn't a personality cult. >Roight, roight. Or so you say. Seriously? You're going to try and claim that Apple-fuarrrking-man has a personality cult? Really? >I BET IT'S THE RUSSIANS No. It was you. But hey it came out fine. You said yourself, you're a troll and a blatant liar to boot. Good for you, but this whole "It's not how you remember it. You're lying to yourselves" is way beyond your reach. >Were you here from the starts? I bet you didn't. You'd bet wrong. >There were no former audience to say whether it was good or not, so people went with it and tried to make it into a good community kalyx memed it was. That's not how that happened at all. Back in the early days kalyx had a very different vision of the site. brewing soykaf and memes were allowed. It was us making it a good community, by our own standards, that lead to these things. >I asked a sincere q, how is this chan "comfy"? You got your answer in the last post. It's not and it never claimed to be. >>>/sushi/ >Saying "no" to everything I said doesn't mean you proven me wrong dumbo. This isn't a court. I don't have to prove soykaf. Almost everyone reading this was here, they saw it with their own eyes. I'm here for the same reason you and everyone else is. I enjoy this.

>>5309 >"nu-huh, you're wrong" jeez you spergs are annoying Go be a virgin somewhere else, I am not entertained by you anymore
Lord Nikon · 2018-02-27 20:35
>>5310 b-b-but "muh good community" It feels comfy having a "nu-huh" convo with a sperg, doesn't it?
Ein · 2018-02-27 21:21
>>5310 >I am not entertained by you anymore That's a shame. We're all just here to enjoy ourselves after all. Toodles.
Unspecified · 2018-02-27 21:46
>>5300 The problem with that is there are too many people here now with political agendas that aren't interested in a debate or in learning from anyone else. They cherry pick the "proof" they feel comfortable with from the internet because it backs up what they already believe, while ignoring contrary evidence. Then they attempt to evangelize the entire internet with their gospel truth, including making us part of their mission. Does that count as "good faith" to you?
