Lainchan back up
Jane Doe · 2026-02-17 14:07
why was the site down for a couple of days
body sufficiently elongated
Lord Nikon · 2026-02-17 20:01

I was checking if it's back so frequently and only one lainon seems to have noticed too.
The internet as we grew up in really is dead, isn't it? I hate this.
Demeere · 2026-02-17 20:36
i noticed it too, so that makes us three, yay
Meddler · 2026-02-18 04:18
>>13871
four, i love my lainchan
Project 2501 · 2026-02-18 09:22
Don't forget about me bud. i was checking daily
Roger Pollack · 2026-02-21 17:04
Anyone know why the site went down for a couple days? I was baking a thread and got worried the place died.
Bobby Newmark · 2026-02-21 17:21
>>13930
no idea lol, hopefully death wont come for another hundred years
Trinity · 2026-02-21 17:27
Don't know either. I saw someone say it could be a DDOS attack. I found out when I tried to login to the IRC, and my client was showing an error
Pulse · 2026-02-21 17:30
>>13932
I tried checking /news/ and the IRC before making a thread and it was just me in the IRC lobby. To be fair I used the web client /irc/ links to.
Special Agent Bob · 2026-02-21 22:03
I'm glad it's back. Someone on cy-x posted an alleged screenshot of a chat with appleman that someone on 4/g/ posted that said the host accidentally suspended the account. Is that true?
Tomohisa "Tom" Kanezaki · 2026-02-22 13:15
Is lainchan currently filtering based on useragent? I can't connect with any desktop configuration. Can phone post with Graphine + Vanadium + VPN.
I performed a traceroute from desktop and stopped getting replies after hitting a Goliath firewall IP.
I was only able to connect via mobile starting last night.
Jim Hilger · 2026-02-23 07:41
https://cy-x.net/topic/lainchan-is-down/722
apparently hosting provider fuarrrked up and accidentally suspended lainchan
Emmanuel · 2026-02-23 07:51
god just pull the fuarrrking plug already
Undisclosed · 2026-02-23 12:44
>>13930
I can't access lainchan unless I use tor, maybe has to do with the outage? It just doesn't load and stays in a blank page.
Erik Johansson · 2026-02-23 12:47
>>13936
Can I get the TOR link? I was trying to find it while lainchan was down but couldn't
Lord Nikon · 2026-02-23 13:18
>>13930
>i was worried too.
just an update this place still lives lol
Sabo Engle · 2026-02-23 14:22
>>13937
lainchan doesn't have a hidden service .onion
Liet Kynes · 2026-02-23 21:16
did threads on /music/ get wiped? I remember the pagecount being bigger than 5
Cutter · 2026-02-25 00:03
Its odd how mine and even the a local stores internet acted up at the same time also some other sites.
I dont know what is going on but i dont feel like its a coincidence.
At first i blamed it on my soykaf mobile internet which is as slow as 56k, but this is just too odd of a time.
Also im so dependent on this place, i have nowhere else to go and am pretty helpless without it, its disturbing, im so glad its back even if only for a few minutes a day.
Agent Jones · 2026-02-25 20:53
Someone, we don't know who, ddos'd the site for a few days at the same time ramnode seemed to do a scheduled update. I'll leave it up to you to imagine what's happening
Crash Override · 2026-02-27 04:32
It's still unreachable for me but only over IPv4 - hit GlobalSecureLayer and get no further. IPv6 works just fine.
Has Appleman decided we're living in the future, or does the server just need a kick?
Roy Batty · 2026-02-27 10:09
I was one of those people that noticed this, too, especially when I used https://uptime.com/freetools/global-uptime-test/2755332/lainchan.org
A couple of regions - namely Tokyo, Japan and Dallas, Texas (USA) - gave out 'connection timed out' errors, but one example - London, UK - was working fine-ish even though the rest of the UK (?) noticed that Lainchan was down. Even Reddit took notice of that on the r/lain subreddit community.
I also tried seeing if there was any issues on the Lainchan GitHub repo, but nothing had came up within the page's issues tab. Hope this helps!
Demeere · 2026-02-27 16:32
This is the first time I've been able to access lainchan in over a week. What's going on?
Dozer · 2026-02-28 09:36
I get warnings about HTTPS being unsupported on Lainchan now, they block page load. Weird oldish FF.
Don't believe it's my browser though and while it could be a server / load balancer config issue, it's new so it could be a MitM artefact.
Cowboy · 2026-02-28 23:12
>>13943 (bit shift flip flop)
Not one post was made on this site in the meantime; liminal "sage" attained?
Take it easy channizens.
Wintermute · 2026-03-03 08:12
i still can't access this place through a good browser like links
what go on
William Holtzer · 2026-03-06 09:00
The website was offline for a bit and then when it came back I am hearing that it isn't working for everyone. What has been going on lately?
Ivan Petrov · 2026-03-07 03:54

Schizophrenia is when nothing's a coincidence so surely it must mean something. I've got a reflective skull too.
I bet you've got schizophrenia and your emitted thoughts bounce back at you being interpreted as external stimuli.
For others: keep a paranoid schizo around like a canary, makes a lot of noise but can save your life.
BosnaMan · 2026-03-07 12:25
Just to add my bit - I can only access the site on my phone via mobile data, other networks time out.
Bobby Newmark · 2026-03-08 04:09
>>13947
This website is only working via IPv6. It's probably that your carrier supports IPv6 but not your ISP.
Rick Deckard · 2026-03-08 06:55
>>13947
>>13948
If you want to connect from home or another IPv4-only network, you can use Tor.
Drano · 2026-03-09 00:26
The oddest part about all of this is the lack of any response from the site team.
What are they hiding?
BosnaMan · 2026-03-09 06:19
>>13948
>>13949
You are right that I dont have an IPv6 address at home, but I'm connected from IPv4 network right now.
I suppose there's some work being done on the site.
John Doe · 2026-03-09 10:00
>>13950
site has been turning into 4chan since the instability began, coincidence?
Demeere · 2026-03-09 13:21
>>13950
What about asking /q/?
>>13951
What kind of work? Polishing? At the moment I don't know, but in the meantime, you can use this link:
https://uptime.com/freetools/global-uptime-test/2755332/lainchan.org
This is a very handy link if you want to keep track of any time-out connection errors, and somehow, Lainchan miraculously works the next day after I access from Uptime, but only for a day - then next day, I get time-out connection errors.
I mean, how strange is this error? It's like the heavy fog outside my house...
John Titor · 2026-03-09 17:09

>ask /q/?
You know damn well that 99 out of the 100 mods of this site (90% of total users) are watching this very thread.
If the site team wants to release any info, they will make a thread on their own, or even reply here.
Guthrie · 2026-03-09 17:13
I noticed a number of websites their HTTPS stopped working but if they had HTTP it was still working. I suspect it was a bad server update somewhere.
Rick Deckard · 2026-03-09 23:25
what does it mean if your posting leads to "please make a better post"?
Unspecified · 2026-03-10 03:12
I still can't access the site from Chrome or Brave, only Tor works.
Hououin Kyouma · 2026-03-10 21:08
It's been inaccessible for me a bunch lately. Not sure why it lets me connect every now and then. Access over phone data (AT&T) seems to be the most reliable route for me.
Agent Richard Gill · 2026-03-11 20:38
what does it mean if you try to post and it refuses the post and just says "please make better posts" or something to that effect?
Masami Eiri · 2026-03-12 15:21
I check in at least once a week. I was really sad to see it go, because it's hard to find the Goldilocks websites so to speak. Just the right amount of stuff to look at and ponder, not enough that I scroll away my day.
Koos van der Merwe · 2026-03-13 12:40
I cannot reach lainchan.org at all from my home network. Not even ping works. It's as if I'm completely blacklisted.
I actually thought lainchan was dead until I visited on a whim while on a mobile connection.
Mobile network works however, as does Tor. I strongly suspect a much too aggressive filter is active, or even a rangeban for whatever reason? I can't debug it if I literally can't even ping this site.
Currently posting from Tor. I hope this post goes through.
Also, the pinned threads are at bump limit. Unpin some perhaps?

It just hit me what the issue likely is after checking abuseipdb: the admin probably lost the IPv4 address https://www.abuseipdb.com/check/107.161.19.243
I'm behind a cursed double NAT44 setup. I don't have NAT66 setup nor have I been able to make the primary router give a IPv6 prefix.
I tried to test this via two VPSes with ping6, but for some reason it says the "network is unreachable" and I cannot be bothered to figure that out, but if someone can simply trying ping and ping6 I'd appreciate it.
William Holtzer · 2026-03-16 11:42
22chan went down at around a similar time and still isn't up yet. A few other altchans also seem to have disappeared.
I wonder what's going on with the service providers to start knocking this stuff offline?
>>13955
This is a good theory.
Apoc · 2026-03-16 11:53
i actually hope they pull off the plug because the site has been with us unfortunately since for a decade
Tomohisa "Tom" Kanezaki · 2026-03-17 15:38
Currently I am still unable to access lainchan.org from my home network on ipv4 though people on the IRC say they can and for ipv6. TOR and cell network still work. I can get the site page back from a curl. It seems specific to home internet via the browser.
HELIOS · 2026-03-21 12:13
This gets even weirder.
On my network, if I'm using wireless (a laptop and a phone), the site loads fine. On my desktop (ethernet), both web browsers fail to load the site, but if I use w3m or curl -L, I connect without issue.
One thing I noticed is that curl without -L pulls down a 301 message.
Unsigned · 2026-03-31 01:20
It was down for so long the dead internet theory schizo made their usual post on /g/ instead. Got massive whiplash.
Fred Nurk · 2026-04-04 05:56
The SSL certificate expired or it might be a self hosted CA, and unfortunately Firefox won't let you access lainchan. But Chrome does, for some reason
John Doe · 2026-04-04 09:46

I'm getting the same warnings from librewolf and brave
