Normies are going to go to this site en mass

4chan is of course down, and a lot of people are going to altchans. I have a very strong feeling that people are going to be staying here and exacerbating the problem.
BloodCat · 2025-04-15 16:23
>>13241 Can they even find it? And if they do, will they even be able to tolerate the site culture? At worst, I think people will come here, try to troll, get bored and leave. That or moderation is going to have to kick into high gear to ban some people.
Undisclosed · 2025-04-15 16:34
I don't see why we should assume the people coming here will be especially worse than some of the dedicated posters. every day i see posts by a handful of creeps who don't give a fuarrrk about post quality or the culture of the site (in fact they would much prefer to replace it with their own). they incessantly brew soykaf and honestly any activity that isn't them is imo a positive.

There's something rather sus about 4chan being taken down now. Not that it's been anything resembling an anti establishment site since the 00's but it was one of the few communities that still prioritized anonymity and letting people contribute without registering. Plus, it wasn't owned by the cartel of American tech corps that has now practically merged with the American government. Maybe it's just paranoia but I have my suspicions.
Lunch · 2025-04-15 22:17
I am one such dreaded normal and i've never been a problem for this board. I have not written the worst posts i've seen here and i don't flood, anyway. Don't you think various altchans could use a little more posting? As for 4chan it will be back up, it's Hiro celebrating his 10th anniversary of tenure.

Similarly, OP posts are expected to be broad in subject, specific in intent, and well thought out (e.g: if you have a minor tech question, ask in the tech question general, don't burn a whole thread for it- if you DO start a thread on a family of tech questions, give lots of context- what you know, what you don't, what you've tried, provide some code, etc.)

>>13251 > but it was one of the few communities that still prioritized anonymity Nope. Never has, never will. It's a fundamental defect in the concept of a centralized chan-like imageboard. People are pseudo-Anon to each other, not to the staff or anyone they give access to. To the staff all of your posts across all threads on all boards could be viewed as one single thread. You could watch in realtime, jump in and nudge wherever you want, hook a botswarm into that info, train an AI on your output to send bots that mirror you, whatever. There's quite literally nothing good about it. The entire thing was one big trick. And if the feds or staff want to screw with you, it's just a matter of using parallel construction. ie you obtain information illegally, and then you work backwards build a compelling case for how you came about it legally. As far as I'm concerned 4chan was intended as a parallel structure for the DARPA Lifelog projects like Facebook. Controlled pressure release valve, and you can observe and contrast the behavior of individuals across both.
Cereal Killer · 2025-04-19 12:50
>>13251 4chan was 100% a government project (even if moot actually was just a normal guy who started it for fun initially). It was the source of so many counter-cultural memes there's no way it would have been allowed to stay up if they didn't want it up for some reason. There were probably hundreds or thousands of posts per day that could have been used as an excuse to take down the site for some legal reason. I know what you mean about it not being genuinely anti-establishment, but it was still the only popular place where you could post basically any opinion and it would be seen, and whatever you think about the deterioration of the culture of the site in recent years, many of the users who remained there WERE genuinely anti-establishment despite the wider site culture. What was the purpose? A controlled pressure valve for malcontents? An information gathering project? An experiment in the psi/paranormal effects of mass consciousness / meme growth. Probably all of this and more. The fact that they chose to destroy the only remaining popular place for malcontents I think signals we are reaching the end of the game, whatever the game is, or at least entering an entirely new phase. You can't shut down something like 4chan without understanding that the people there will find another outlet for the energy that was going there. I SURE they are watching for where this energy goes and trying to shape it for purposes we can only guess at.

A 36-year-old female epileptic, whose behavior was normally “quite proper,” responded to stimulation by “giggling and making funny comments” and flirting with researchers. A sullen 11-year-old epileptic boy became chatty and friendly when stimulated. “Hey! You can keep me here longer when you give me these,” he exclaimed. He also announced, “I’d like to be a girl.”" Neuralink is a red herring imo. By the 70's a lot of the bidirectional communication with the brain stuff could be done wirelessly. Modern day implants would be either grown in the body or inserted as modified parasites / bacteria. Also I've never owned a cell phone, live in a rural area, and yet I can go 4 months with no internet connection and on returning google already knows everything I've seen and thought. >>13297 >but are you sure you weren't just near somebody else who does have a phone, and they got you by voice print or something? even a conversation with a shopkeeper might've been enough Yep, I've controlled for just about everything. It seems to be largely visual. If I look at an object, say a rusted wheel rim, think of it in a certain way, and count the lugs on it, I'll get home and there will be a recommendation for removing rust from a wheel rim. Thumbnail is the exact angle I was looking from, same number of lugs, same everything. To have inferred this would have required having seen anf characterized that vehicle elsewhere, logged it, detected or inferred that I was there via prior patterns and statistical magic, perhaps using a distant wi-fi router (no phones or people around, one wi-fi router maybe 100 meters away), generated a bunch of predictions of what I would think, dropped them all in the youtube recommended. Yet that isn't what happened, the only thing car related was the wheels, so perhaps it could triangulate somehow and infer that I was looking down. I don't know, that's just one example. On another occasion I wrote "7" on the back of my hand, then next to it going the other way "303". A youtube video I had on paused itself (an actual pause, not a buffering error) at exactly 7:33. The list goes on. Some years ago I tested whether I even needed to use search, and instead imagined a video thumbnail, refreshed a few times, and then it would show up. I considered infrasound (subvocalization)... Eh, the thing is it's not limited to the internet either. If I'm focused on the moon in a particular way, which I associate with blue roses, a blue rose will appear somewhere in my life in the next few days. People will also ay things that reflect my recent thoughts, hyperspecific things. I'm getting off track. Point is, initially like most people, I thought it was technological. I came up with ideas like microorganisms living on the surface of the eye and duplicating inputs, nanotech embedded in the optic nerve, something hooked into the cerebellum (controls language, body position, grammar, syntax, math) or some other area, EEG pickup, maybe some exotic quantum sync method where brain chunks are like oscillators so you can sync and entrain them remotely by mimicking their activity pattern closely enough. And the list goes on. Anyway, that's it. Shit's weird and it definitely happens. All that matters to me is that when I point out the obvious, I don't have to hear "no".
Hitomi · 2025-04-19 13:54

>>13291 >the glowies gain more from 4chan being around apparently not. or at least not any more. while it very clearly was monitored. things like BBC posting stopping when the iron dome was breached and so on. military briefings leaking of some b 00 mer generals having a green cartoon frog on the vga projector and trying to make sense of it all. media loving it as a scapegoat, posting "memes" they made themselves and then write another article about it. the recent attempt at consensus shaping about the ukraine conflict and make people support the war machine with nazi anime waifus. the examples just go on. the thing is, while they did all this, the users who were wise to it watched them in turn. and to this, someone high up enough might have become wise as well. I unironically believe that the covid narrative fell apart at least partially due to it having been identified as a nothing burger back in 2019 and all those later revelations like the lab leak hypothesis have already been known or strongly suspected to be true many years beforehand in their respective general threads. I've seen clearly organized flooding and demoralization posting increase more and more to the point the site was barely usable and yet it couldn't really, not reliably at least take control of the behavioral patterns of the people who went there. the powers involved are smart and capable, that is evident. but they just never seem to "get it". while effective mass control was already well established before goebbels, you have people who will keep seeing through the fake veneers. who will always remain disagreeable. and those types did congregate in places like this. at some point they might have realized that it's not really worth it, you know? and take down the without doubt most influential platform where that type of person would form these spontaneously emerging think tanks. while monitoring the most difficult to manipulate people is interesting from an intelligence perspective, a collective conscious forming that's counter to the status quo however is a threat. but that's just my schizoid two cents on it >>13287 >An experiment in the psi/paranormal effects of mass consciousness don't interpret the dot strongly

>>13302 As far as I can tell the core metrics reality uses are engagement and believeability. If you could get to a point where a pile of gold falling from the sky was believeable and you cou;d accept it, without diminishing engagement, then it would occur. Engagement just means it watches your pattern of attention carefully and then creates more of whatever you react to the most, good bad or indifferent. There are some other things, but that's loosely how I'd systematize it. The difficulty is in separating creation and precognition. Like there are certain things I can manifest reliably and easily, one is work in the form of odd jobs, the other is running into people. It is very rare I see anyone I know, or have known, while out and about. However if I say the magic words, "I should...." and imagine it, feel it, decide that it will occur. Then within a week I'll run into that person, somewhere. It may have been 10 years. But it'll happen. SO the question becomes, if that person no longer existed, or was very far away, would I have been capable of even trying to manifest it? Was the manifestation actually precognitive, I had agreed, or was otherwise preparing, to encounter them, which is why they'd been on my mind? Likewise with thinking of someone and then them calling you a few minutes later. I was thinking about getting work, while I was playing Penumbra. Lot of fixing things, crawling around in vents. Next day someone calls me, the ventilation system in her basement fell apart. So I go into this dark dirt floor basement and am fixing all these vents, then fixing the hot water heater. Straight out of Penumbra. But while the intention to get work is obvious, where did the impulse to replay Penumbra come from? I have a loose idea, and it makes sense given I'd been thinking of roses and Amnesia, and the same studio made Penumbra... so I was thinking of the symbology. Last example, I watched in one sitting the show "RIN: The daughters of mnemosyne". Wasn't what I expected, lot of oddly familiar stuff. Anyway, ends with Yggdrasil and this egg thing. Then I watch the 4th Matrix right after, the ship is called the Mnemosyne. Well sun comes up, I'm reflecting on Lethe and Mnemosyne and the elements of this show that seemed plucked out of my life, and I get a call. Someone has this giant egg shaped rock in their garden, and it fell over. So I go and set it up again. There too, desire for work, matching function occurs, I go and act out whatever I mentally (and in fact feelingly, which is only partly emotional) engaged with. It's ahrd to say. Tests are ongoing but my overall impression, like lifetime impression, is that it's not strictly precognition. Or being offered a few branches and unconsciously choosing one. It's happening in the background all the time and shapes what you encounter both in realtime, and especially during sleep. The matching function as I call it is also quite tragic, but that's another story. I'm also pretty sure I've popped people and places into being, or something like that. It may be that not everyone is born, sometimes a role is thought up and a soul is willing to just jump in and fill it. Many possibilities.

Unless it knows when something like that is running and goes silent. you're getting too paranoid in the wrong directions. possibilities: get a VM running and run chrome vs degoogled chrome and wireshark to see how if there's any difference in hosts its connected to. Google doesn't need to monitor your network traffic directly, though. if you use their DNS which is a default and likely being used as a chromium default too then the page can be independently scraped for new content and used to modify your algorithm as well. Another possibility: your ISP or router is doing deep packet inspection. so use different networks and see what that changes. >>13313 some of this seems subjective - if you have a limited set of symbols in your vocabulary and they refer to broad concepts like simulation or tabula rasa then you'll notice them by virtue of that being your thought process. >>13314 >usaid getting cut does pass occam's razor maybe. but it would take an additional assumption that USAID started paying for 4chan - would this be under moot, or hiro? since 4chan was sold in 2015, what might that say about the culture shift? it would also be a singular instance of something we don't have other examples of. the "site got too expensive to take care of" narrative has many other examples and tracks with what we know. >we (as a society) lost a place where anything could be discussed, including crucial counter narrative that then ends up trickling down to normal people at large i agree it is a travesty we no longer have 4chan. but its good to remember that mods are never impartial, this also goes for lainchan, soyjak, and it was true of 8chan, too.

I haven't lurked that place much in recent times because it just kept getting worse (I know it was never good but there's always a worse) but it is regretful that it isn't available any more, be it just for its history. sites come and go, even if there was something special buried in all the piles of crap. news would often break there first for instance and I still do believe that it even influenced public perception like during the covid craze, be it indirectly by functioning as a public think tank and processing (and discovering) available information. those early /chg/s were where this site was at its best, with much of what had been discussed then eventually being picked up by youtubers and then the broader public. and being able to control this would be of obvious advantage to anyone seeking to have a hand in public perception, don't you think?
