Refugees looking to run a festive annual general on lainchan want to make sure it follows the rules

There's a group of us who have been running these secret santa general threads on another image board, but after years of running these from (2017-2024) we have been told we are no longer allowed to run these there. To keep it short we'd like to run our general on /r/, and we want to verify it doesn't violate any of lainchan's global rules, or /r/'s rules. Basically anons post amazon wishlists, watch holiday movies together, participate in onsite user ran thread competitions on occasion (like drawing contests), and anons are free to choose at will if they would like to buy someone something off of their amazon wishlist. These run until January 1st, and are a seasonal thing. Thanks for reading!

>>13011 Thanks for making a /q/ thread first. And asking about whether the concept of making a themed post violates Lainchan's rules. Currently you have described various things , and I think they need to be separated to confirm what you actually want to do , e.g. you also use the term to keep it short, but Lainchan's global rules want you to elaborate. So please elaborate and clarify by replying to my post. Currently you say 1. we'd like to run our general on /r/, 2. You say that you want one general for a) secret santa activity involving amazon wishlists b) holiday movie scheduling and organisation c) user ran thread competitions Here is the reminder of /r/ specific rules Do not create threads in which no discussion is expected to occur, e.g. dumping threads. Do not create template threads. The global rules are as follows Do not post in or view any boards if you are under 18 years of age. If you break the rules we will delete your post. Do it repeatedly and you'll be derezzed. Do not call for mods, or announce reports in a thread. Always argue in good faith and avoid using personal attacks. You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf. Don't respond with aggression to perceived flames or trolls (or at all.) Do not whine and cry about 8chan, lainchan.jp, "quality", "invasions", "new users", mods, bans, or kalyx outside of /q/. Do not spam or advertise unrelated content. Do not post child pornography or questionable 2D/3DCG/3DPG sexual depictions of children. This includes "child models". If you must post it, spoiler any NSFW content and make sure it's relevant to the discussion. Do not upload malicious archives. Read the rules again. At least 3 times. My questions for further clarification are as follows 1. Which other imageboard and why have they told you are not longer allowed to run this activity there ? 2. What happened in past threads that caused your group to not be allowed to continue to post there ? 3. Why one thread as a fake general, why not multiple threads ? 1 for secret santa, 1 for holiday movie review / organizing, (could be in /r/ or /vis) and 1 per user competition that is run (could be in /r/ or vis). Threads that are fake generals without existing understanding of what they are collating / discussing tend to be dumping group threads were minimal discussion occurs. 4. How do you intend to prevent making this general or the multiple threads in its place a thread were no discussion occurs (dumping thread with just link to amazon wishlist, or attached picture and placeholder text) ? How do you intend to ensure both the OP and the replies are actually elaborated on as to prevent a Rule 4 violation ? You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf. 5. How do you intend to prevent this general or these threads from being a Rule 7 violation Do not spam or advertise unrelated content. (Especially with the link spam of all the amazon wishlists ?) I can think of several mitigation strategies for some of the above questions, but I am interested to see what you and your group would do by default. As a side note, you don't have to ask to post, you could have just made the thread on /r/ and it would have been warned and eventually either pruned or deleted when it broke the rules too many times as per Rule 1. If you break the rules we will delete your post. Do it repeatedly and you'll be derezzed. Thanks once again for making this post, I look forward to your reply.

>>13013 >Asking about whether the concept of making a themed post violates Lainchan's rules >OP had described various things Imagine the possibilities... Always double-check elaborating on your opinions (rule 4) has always been a key rule on the site, but I really love how much effort you put into this with questions such as... >"How do you intend to ensure both the OP and the replies are actually elaborated on as to prevent a Rule 4 violation?" I also love OP's suggestion for /r/ (where discussion is needed)! The secret Santa trend really gets everywhere, you know? And Merry Christmas!
